Make Me Call California - Axel Zwingenberger (Cover)
Hello folks! Finally I'm back again. This time with a new masterpiece by Axel Zwingenberger, the master of boogie woogie, whom I myself happened to meet in 2020 in my hometown. The song is called "Make Me Call California." It is a rare song and a rarely played slow boogie or blues. I love the melody and the slight touch of melancholy it offers. So give it a listen and have fun. I hope you will enjoy it. Please give me a thumbs up - I appreciate your comments as well.

Ich habe Axel schon mehrfach live erleben dürfen. Das letzte Mal war es 2020 im Kurpark in Sasbachwalden. Kurz vorher traf ich ihn zufällig in meinem Heimatort - er war auf der Durchreise zum Konzert am Abend.

You're a great player and that's a hard tune to do which I do but not in its entirety. If I might say your own great playing is a wee bit regimented. It's difficult to know what to do about that when a person's style is habitual. But you could try playing more ad-lib and that way you can loosen up a bit. Sorry perhaps just a pointless observation, but happy playing...

Ha ha thank you bud, so are you. But I can't play that tune 'Boogie be with me' like you do. I have composed what I call 'The Jezzy boy boogie' though if you're interested you can type it in and find it...

No but I can arrange something close to it as it was ad-lib back then and when I do I will let you know. Is that ok with you? ...
And I didn't compose it pre-determinedly rather than just sort of made it up and had taped what I had made up then gave it a name of its own. But I suppose that could also be termed composition just that I only do it my way and couldn't really do it any other...

Great that organ playing. When I began playing I started with an organ - it was a Phillips Philicorda. Never succeded to a Hammond :-)

You play it "White & Tight" but I like it. Not too dissimilar really,from the easy precision of say,Freddie Slack.

Thanks so much for the great view of your fingering! That's been my main problem with this piece.
Hi, yes I have the CD, without it I would be completely lost. When it comes to boogie woogie and Blues I find it essential to have a recording, It is one kind of music where the rythm and the beat can be very different from how the notes look on paper. I also have The Real Blues and Boogie Buch, by Christian Willison. This is also very very excellent sheet music and comes with a CD. If you don't have this already, I highly recommend it. You can get it from Amazon.
Thank you, Greg, for your comments. Indeed, the songs from Axel are not easy and to play them is not a thing of few days. Very helpful is also to hear to his music. In addition to his book there is a CD with the same songs called "Boogie Woogie live". My next piece to work on is "Sunset Special". It is a little bit slower, but very melodious and with a good blues feeling. Regards, Gunter

@Brettwhat Thank you, indeed I am working on more pieces. But as you know, Axel's pieces are not easy to play, as he is the champion of Boogie Woogie.
