Alan Wake 2 Gets a Physical Edition, But There's a Catch
why did you delete your other videos ? can the callisto protocol videos come back at least ? what about your live streams ?
I'm cleaning up the channel for a minor shift in content and want what's left over on it to reflect that shift. Livestreams won't be coming back or having any new ones done for the foreseeable future, through.
I fucking hate how consoles AREN'T backwards compatible. We fucking bought these game on PS3 and PS2 we deserve to be able to plug them into the PS5 and play them. It's the main reason I stopped buying consoles because it's anti-consumer with forcing remakes down your throat and not allowing you to play your original copy.
I'm sorry but I had a blast with this game I couldn't put it down and I played it several times
The red bandana guy and long blonde spear guy are John and Eric from Castlevania Bloodlines on Genesis
I hope they do the same as what they did for pikmin 4 and release them a month before prime 4
Not the anime version of Isaac (not suprised) but you prefer bondage boi? Wild...
re4 was my first re game but i love re7 it so good
It took me three hourss but I ready everything, read all the stuff in the environment, make sure I don't miss any ammo. I'm a big fan of Alan Wake/Control so I squeeze all the juice I can out of it.
They're coming, right after Half Life 3.
The painted jumping you through a wall had the paint on the other side of the wall. The game ignored the shelf, I guess this is unintentional.
ive not compleated it jet, but i while i love the story so far i dont think i can see myself playing throught this more than this once
I finished this dlc in 2,5 hours, while reading all notes and dying several times, that was so short
the only good thing about this DLC was the Control connections. I hate the gameplay of AWII. way too clunky, awkward, stupid puzzles (PIN codes, really...?), and the shooting wants to be a ripoff from resident evil remakes. AW I was a moody masterpiece, AW II just breaks the immersion with the mind place mechanic and features total pretentious rabbit hole bullshit. and literally every 3 seconds a character says 'the story is coming true' oh my god we get it the story is coming truuuue
I liked control, mostly because of the combat loop and the cool environment. Part of why Alan Wake 2 didn't click for me is that the combat felt incredibly clunky and outdated. So if you take a slightly less interesting version of control's environment and then strip away all the cool superpowers and add in the unsatisfying combat of Alan Wake 2, you get a DLC that I had a hard time enjoying.
Alan Wake 2 is such a let down. Should have called the game Bright Falls and cut Alan out of the game.
Had a very similar experience to yours. AW2 was my game of the year 2023 and I waited months for this DLC thinking that it was going to be an *Alan Wake 2* story expansion. Instead, it's a Control DLC that's only tangentially related to Alan Wake. I got tired of reading the outrageous amount of documents around halfway through and just ignored the rest. That's also what I did with the enemies. Outside of two combat encounters where I think you're forced to fight, I just ran past everything. The new enemies are completely forgettable and the final boss is a discount Cynthia Weaver. In the end, the DLC ended up being a bunch of running and reading a story told entirely through text. Total disappoitment. IMO, the two DLCs are not worth the expansion price and the year long wait.
It's why I've said for a while I'm happy the DLC came with the deluxe edition/10 dollar upgrade with all the cosmetics and stuff, especially the physical edition bundling AW1 Remastered. I don't feel like I enjoyed the DLCs enough personally to pay for them, but since they came bundled with other stuff I did like, the 10 bucks felt a lot less steep for me.
Narratively I liked the DLC as I like Alan Wake's and Control's narrative. Gameplaywise Alan Wake 2 is just not good (enough). It just plays like a worse Resident Evil 4 Remake with flashlight mechanics.
I think I've soured more and more on AW2's gameplay the further in the rear-view mirror it gets. I still love the game, but it definitely feels a lot stiffer and unresponsive than I'd like it to be, especially now that I've just played through the SH2 remake which has some of the smoothest combat I've ever touched in a horror game. I still adore the story and characters for AW2 though. That's never going to change.
I think you are on the out here. If you aren't a fan of this "verse" the Remedy has been pushing, then having an appreciation for everything as a whole will be lackluster for you. I personally love Control and like Quantum Break (still haven't beat this one sadly). It sounds like you love the Wake-verse but could do without the extra verses piling on unneeded context for you and with the DLC more specifically aimed at the Control fans I could see this being a huge turn off for someone that is really there for Alan Wakes World vs what's happening with the rest of Remedy's worlds. Hopefully they aren't fully done with content yet and drops some more exclusive wake stuff.
I'm also going to keep trying to enjoy Control and Control-related content as it comes out. I'll be buying Control 2 when it releases even if I didn't like the first game because there's a chance I might like the second one more, and I don't want to miss out on that chance. It's a mistake I've made more than a few times.
Gotta disagree on the final weapon bit you can use it on the taken too and cause massive damage. I used it on the final boss, and it was over in like 4 good hits
Y'know what that's a fair point. I think I had one shot of it left when I got to the boss and didn't realise it was the last fight, so I never used it, but I imagine it wrecks.
@@Shweelan yeah that gun fucks kinda wish it carried over to the main game but respect your yo opinion bro personality love this dlc and the teaser for control 2 🔥🔥and I definitely spent 5 hours reading notes 😂😂😂
Oh, dude, the weapon carrying over to the main game would've been cool as hell. Something like the foam finger from Dead Space 2 where you can use it to smash through the entire game on a power trip would've been awesome.
@Shweelan hell yeah that would've been 🔥🔥 just point hold and erase the taken and bosses ughh missed opportunity 😂😂
This video is about as long as the DLC, lol
Thought this was going to be another Alan Wake / Saga adventure that would take 4 hours to finish this time . Sad to see it just teases Control 2 and that’s it
As a remedy fan the lake house was so good for me the control vibe was exactly what I need and its like control 1.5 an now we know what we can expect from control 2 story concept if you dont like control and remedy connected universe concept i understand why you dont like the lake house for control fans the lake house was amazing
I'm stoked for all the Control fans enjoying this DLC and getting super-hyped for the second one to come out. I hope that one's as good as the first and you guys all love it!
You’re so right about the control vibe. Bringing all of the scp aspects but giving it the Alan Wake horror treatment is so fire
this is exactly why I loved the lake house 👏🏻💥
What about Alan Wake fans? Shouldn’t Alan Wake fans get more Alan Wake in their Alan Wake game?
@@jakedizzleI think remedy really wants to expand the remedy connected universe with the lake house The night springs dlc is more about the Alan WAKE universe but at some point they need to expand the remedy connected universe concept and I think the lake house is a bridge to control 2 and other remedy games Alan WAKE is part of the control universe now finally wake is out of the dark place now and I'm sure he is a very important character in this connected universe but I get your point
For me it was just way too much reading letters. I don’t like reading so much in games.
isnt that what every remedy game is tho?
Admit it you just got scared
Scared of what? The 12 taken from the main game or the 6 painted guys?
Scared to the point of falling asleep... Lore is great. But by now the Taken are boring
Same! I WANTED to love it but it was just a mess.the graphics and charactoe models are downgraded! I didnt love NS either but atleast that was something different. the lakehouse felt rushed uninspired and pointless. I was expecting some resident evil mansion type with puzzles.... I love wake2 and I was so disappointed there was no SAGA in the dlc but hopefully shell show up in control 2.
I'd definitely have liked more of a focused, RE-type mansion exploration focus, especially if they were gonna have the keycard system and the backtracking at certain points. I don't think it's a bad DLC, like I said in the video, but it definitely wasn't up my alley.
What do you mean the models are downgraded?
I felt throughout, that it was riding high on Control ambience and injecting Alan (as an omnipotent character) for reminders, what the lore was about. Cool and nerdy dlc, but felt like a mishmash of going different directions
The meta-commentary on AI art by having typewriters try to recreate the work of Alan Wake and it failing miserably was pretty cool.
@@Shweelan Agreed! Very nerdy DLC for sure
Just wanted to be able to unlock alan wakes classic outfit at some point tbh
Well thankfully you can now if you own the deluxe edition/pay the 10 bucks for the deluxe upgrade. I've been using it in my most recent playthrough, and am loving it.
@@Shweelan wait, they added it with the lake house? Haven't been able to redownload the game after I got finished with night springs a few months back
Yup. It's a selectable in the cosmetics section on the main menu from the jump if you own the deluxe edition. You don't even need to do anything to unlock it, iirc.
You must have just sprinted through the dlc and not actually read the notes, listened to the tapes or watched the movies if you finished it that quick lol. And that’s why you probably didn’t enjoy it like others did, there was a lot there teasing the upcoming games to get excited for, as well as diving deeper into the FBC and parautiliterians
Both of you are correct, people can enjoy things with different perspectives and be critical 😊
I did exactly that. I even admit to it several times during the video. I tried to read the notes and watch the tapes at first, but as someone with ADHD who really struggles to read in the modern day, there were way too many of them that distracted way too much from the gameplay for my tastes, so I started skimming them after about thirty minutes. I also don't think reading all of the notes would've made me like the DLC, as most of my complaints with it were on the gameplay and level design of the thing, so a cool story wouldn't have made those issues go away. I will also admit again that I don't find the FBC interesting at all. I've never been an SCP fan, Control didn't grab me with the concept either, so whenever the game started going on about the FBC and its methods, inter-office politics, history, Jules' beef with Darling, Diana and Jules' relationship falling apart, them kidnapping and experimenting on other artists besides Rudolf, and teases for Control 2, I checked out pretty quickly and just moved onto the next note/segment. It's why I said I don't think this is a bad DLC or not worth the money, it's just that I personally didn't like it, but will still recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Control and it's deeper lore.
I beat it in an hour and got all my trophies 😂 idk maybe you died a lot
So how could you ever like it when you literally didnt care about anything else created after alan wake This is a dlc thats a part of whats now the remedy universe… Which you say isnt interesting to you and you dont care for it… How could this dlc ever be something you like then? Like at this point you need to realize youre just not a fan of remedy and these titles arent for you.
The whole DLC, to me, felt like a hypefest and I was all for it. I've been a fan of Sam Lake and Remedy for the past 19 years and being able to see the FBC again, but through the lens of a normal human, was great. The duration didn't bother me at all since it is also a chapter integrated to the main story. Took me 3 hours, I couldn't see everything on my first playthrough (even missed Dylan) and will run it again.
Sorry, what? 'Need to realise I'm not a Remedy fan'? So the fact I absolutely love Max Payne 1 and 2, Alan Wake 1, its DLCs, American Nightmare, Alan Wake 2, and Night Springs just doesn't count because I don't like two of their games? I can't call myself a fan of Remedy or say Sam Lake is my favourite writer anymore because I don't like 100% of their games released over 25 years that contain radically different styles of writing and gameplay? Remedy has gone 7-2 in my eyes, and Control is still a game I'll admit is really damn good that just didn't appeal to me personally, so that really should be 8-1, means I'm not a Remedy fan? You can still be a big fan of someone or something and not like 100% of their catalogue. It's not an impossibility or a contradiction. I'm still gonna be here day one for the Max Payne remakes, Alan Wake 3, or anything else Remedy does that isn't Control, because I just don't find Control interesting. That doesn't make me 'not a Remedy fan' or someone who hates the Remedy universe.
I spent 5 hours getting all the trophies. I also read every single log and watched all the slide projections. If you’re running through it you can beat it easily in an hour and a half. But completing it takes a little more time. I do think it’s so fucking disappointing that we never learned anything about Warlin Door.
I'm just not a very patient gamer when it comes to reading notes or getting trophies. ADHD's seen to that. I usually tend to go through things at a high speed, especially on a first playthrough, because I tend to lose interest in things pretty quick if I spend too much time not engaging with the gameplay loop. A game has to be one of my favourite games of all time for me to go through it more than once, unfortunately. As for the stuff with door, I am 100% positive that's all being saved for Alan Wake 3, so there's still that to look forward to at this point.
@@ShweelanIt's not very cool of you to basically insult people who took longer than you to finish the game when there were blatant reasons your playthrough would have been shorter.
I don't think I insulted anyone at all. I made a joke about people taking longer than I did to beat the DLC, admitted in the video that I didn't engage with the optional notes and readables due to my own personal reasons, and then said reading and taking their time was why people got the longer playtime out of the DLC. I'm sorry if it came across like I was mocking people for playing games differently than I did. That wasn't my intention at all.
@@Shweelan@Shweelan 'I really really wanna know what the hell people were doing to take 5, 4, even 3 and a half hours to finish this. Maybe they never used the sprint button, maybe they were playing it blindfolded?' - this feels rather insulting, like people have no excuse to take that long to play the game. They were reading the notes and getting the achievements.
That was the joke. It's comedic exaggeration because clearly people weren't doing either of those things. I don't really know how you'd take that as a serious insult or criticism.
I was pretty disappointed when I saw the length of this DLC too, because with Night Springs DLC being so short as well, I just felt like it wasn’t really on par with DLCs by other companies for games that have come out recently, but I realized that you can access all of the DLCs from the main story and I’m pretty sure that’s how they’re meant to be played, as extensions of the main story, rather than stand alone dlcs
Honestly I feel the exact opposite. I think these DLCs are meant to be played as standalone stories completely disconnected from the main game because they don't really expand on or elaborate on much from the main campaign. They're disconnected, 'bite-size' narratives set in the 'world' of Alan Wake 2, rather than being a Witcher 3 Blood and Wine continuation and wrap-up to the narrative of the character. It seems all that stuff's being saved for Alan Wake 3.
@@Shweelan I can’t comment on the Lake House DLC, as I haven’t gotten far enough to play through it in the main game so I don’t know anything about how it fits in story wise, but the Night Springs at least fit in with Alan’s story as they show his previous attempts to leave the Dark Place, plus they kinda evoke Alan Wake or Max Payne where you could just sit and watch an episode of Night Springs or Address Unknown as a sort of aside from the main story, though now you can play it.
@shweelan while the night spring episodes are disconnected, lake house isn’t. You even have estevez in the scratch chapter in the main game talk about her visit to the lake house. You collect notes/tapes that connect alan wake and the fbc, so it’s very much leading into the next games. Even near the end of the dlc with the cutscene, you get quick shots of new york, which are teasing control 2
I misspoke a little bit in my first reply. Let me try and reword it to be less incorrect. I mean they tell their own newer narratives related to Alan Wake 2 rather than being direct continuations of the events of Alan Wake 2, like showing what's up with Door or what happens with Saga afterwards. My bad for screwing up what I meant the first time.
I don't care what anyone says, getting Alan Wake 2 after so long and now seeing that 80-90% of the game doesnt or barely involves Alan is a huge disappointment and horrible decision.
It's like 45%-50% as alan are you stupid
Okay bot.
@@jman2856 okay troll
And even when it includes Alan his part of the game is insanely boring. You basically have shadow enemies and a poorly implemented flashlight which also has a limited use. Very bad game design decisions
@@artyomsapasalev9752it’s simply a bad game
I don’t get the dodge mechanic
I can't really justify spending money on a DLC, which only adds an hour and a half of content. I really like the aesthetic, but it's essentially a playable trailer for Control 2. Would've been fine if free, but I feel you get a very similar amount of content as the old RE7 demos.
I think the saving grace of the DLCs for Alan Wake 2 is that you have to have the 'deluxe edition' in order to play them, which is a 10 dollar upgrade from the base edition or the standard version of the 60 dollar physical edition. It means you're not paying 10 bucks just for The Lake House, and are instead getting all 3 Night Springs episodes, the cosmetics for the deluxe edition, a digital edition of Alan Wake Remastered (physical only), AND The Lake House. If they'd sold each DLC separately for ten bucks and also charged for cosmetics, I think these things would be a total ripoff. Ten bucks for four or five hours of extra content and some cosmetics seems fair to me.
I'll probably pick this up since I haven't played Alan Wake 2 since launch or the night springs DLC. And I hope Control 2 does away with the Jesse inner monologue stuff.
What did you think of the Night Springs DLC as a whole?
@@Shweelan oh I should correct my comment. I haven't played the Night Springs DLC yet 😅, just the base game at launch.
Fair, fair. Here's hoping you enjoy it.
Just ordered my physical copy. Comes out tomorrow in my region and they’ll deliver Friday. Purposely didn’t play this on release a year ago on principle because I didnt like the fact Remedy made it a digital only release.
The grapevine's been saying that the digital-only release was a cost saving measure Epic introduced due to them funding the entire game, and wanting a 50-50 split on it without having to pay other people to host/print/sell the game for them. Thankfully they listened to the fans and did a physical edition, because I know loads of people who refused to buy the game due to it being digital only.
yeah same, control didnt really do it for me they should have done a mr door dlc
It seems like they're gonna be saving a lot of the stuff with Door for a hypothetical Alan Wake 3. Here's hoping it doesn't take another 13 years for that one to come out.
Did Hardcore mode improve in the last year?

Both Silent Hill and Resident Evil deserve master collections on modern consoles.
Technically all the resident evil games are aviable on modern hardware, Capcom is just too greedy to sell them in a bundle.

It ain't going to be scary like dead space 2 but more action like TCP dat game was ahhh man
