One Shot Film Exercise - In Search of Muse
This is a short film exploring a one take/long take/long tracking, film exercise.
In Search of Muse takes you through the uncertain journey we may experience in search of new ideas in hopes that something along the way will spark our creativity.
Here the subject gets home and decides to play a vinyl record while taking a quick glimpse through his book collection before he sits on his sewing machine to work on a garment.
This exercise was an assignment for a film class. The shot was attempted maybe 5 different times. Being that this was a no edit one shot exercise, we were not able to edit any mistakes. If you pay close attention, the vinyl being played; is a Rolling Stones record, while the actual audio is from a song by The Police. It wasn't until the film was being presented during class that we noticed the error of placing the wrong audio.
This was the first time filming a one take scene and it was a lot of fun. In order to make these scenes work, all pre-production must be worked ahead of time in order to allow an organic flow of movements. To make this matter simple we opted for an extremely simple scene to avoid the chaos that may rise with bigger and more complex productions.
This film was purely for study. All music copyright belong to their lawful owners. Thanks for watching.
