Great video 😂
do you mind if I use you video in a Facebook post about climate change for the local Green Party.
Sure, not a problem
@@stephenpearce3880 it is a very real local example of how climate change makes floods worse than normal. Keep the good work up
The waters are breaking.. Jesus is coming repent
I’ve got dash cam video passing through ‘surface water’ on Farley Way on 6 December 2023. Can I use use a still from this in my post please?
I TABBED past this yesterday. I cannot believe that this vessel has not been recovered yet. This will be a HUGE task as a crane will need to be sited to raise it.
Stephen, Can a still from your video be used in the Quorn Village life publication please to accompany an article I have submitted, Your name will be given. Thanks
It came up into the office didn't it, that is some amount of water.

It’s time the stupid government & planing departments put some serious thought into flood prevention. Before dishing out the go ahead for more housing estates. They put in little ponds that are meant to control millions of gallons of water what a joke.
Even if these poor people didn’t get flooded their house insurance will rocket. & if they don’t tell the insurance & try to claim in the future the insurance won’t pay out. This flood will cost a lot of people, even though they didn’t get flooded.
I've lived in Bottleacre Lane for over 60 years and we have never experienced flooding before, does anyone think it's strange that at 9.00 pm we were flooded by by 11:00 pm the water had sunsided, it's almost as if someone opened a lock gate, if this is the case why wasn't it opened earlier as by 1.00 am you could tell something was wrong and by 4:30 we were under water.
Did owners go back into their homes after or everybody had to go through insurance etc
@@amazighman2 Some will be out of their houses until after Christmas but most moved back after insurance claims but most belongings downstairs were useless
those poor people
If only the local authorities would use the Council Tax money every household pays and clear the drains so the surface water can run down them... and the National Rivers Authority need to clear the rivers of debris and open the river back up so the sediment washes out to sea rather than letting it settle on the river bed making it higher than it should be. Remove the Wiers because they're not needed since the Mills that needed them to divert water to their water wheels and the Mills have long since gone. And what's the Fire Brigade there for...? it's just above ankle deep and I'm pretty sure that everyone it taller than 12 inches...
great captures mate, new sub from me 👍👍
Really sad. I hope more maintenance will be carried out on our water drainage systems. The canals and water / environment agencies all need to work together and start to look at dredging and cleaning out our waterways. This isn’t just about being environmentally friendly it’s about practical steps.
EU laws dictated the dredging was reduced, sod the fish what about people homes and livelihoods"!
Back blaming EU@@richardstorier6172
So the rumour is, CRT had padlocked the lock gates shut. Remember, this is not a normal canal. This is the Leicester arm of the Grand Union Canal which is essentially part of the river system. Still the first time it has flooded in 100 years though. Good job CRT!
I may be wrong but the nearest useable lock to the South is the Pillings flood lock and this holds back the River Soar, if this was allowed to be opened the whole of Loughborough would be affected, as it was, Pillings lock was being overwhelmed and overflowing, this led to the filling of the canal. Further down towards the town, near the sea Cadets, there is a weir, this takes water from the canal to a brook but that was also flooded and caused flooding around the Cotes area. the next lock is Bishop meadow, opening that would create more problems, the water had nowhere to go. However, the point about clearing drains, yes, spot on, I've not seen drains being cleared for what seems years, this was left to the residents of Bottleacre lane and Meadow lane, those people were out in force trying their best to clear the road drains, something that should have been done by the council at least twice a year.
Wouldn't wanna live down them streets, we had it bad in leicester but not like that omg
canals are level controlled via a lock system ,, thanks to the cannal and river trust for not dredging
Awesome ty.
Can I use a still from your video of the Memorial Garden Please. I planted the garden 26 years ago and now tend it with the Quorn in Bloom group?
Yes, absolutely. My pleasure.

If you would like, I'd be happy to refilm at sometime in the future after you've rebuilt and replanted etc... Good Luck
@@stephenpearce3880 Thank you very much for the offer I hope we will only have minimal planting to do. It's too wet and soggy at the moment to do a proper inspection yet. It would be lovely to have a areal photo in May/June when all the Rhododendrons are out. Thanks Jane
Nice video work. I'm glad I'm in Perth ⛱
Amazing footage. Thanks

I’m 37 from Loughborough never seen the canal burst it’s banks before in the town itself. I’m told it hasn’t happened in at least 50 years ? Usually Loughborough’s floods are past Bishop meadow out towards zoch. What a shit way to start the year. Sympathies to all the folks flooded out. Just reading now that market place is also starting to flood. In town centre. So the brook going through Queen’s Park must have broken its banks too. Never heard of the town centre the actual market flooding before. Bloody mental.
Yes, same here. I've lived around the Loughborough area for 40+ years and i've never seen this before. My sympathies go to the poor folks affected
Thanks for showing !
Could you do a fly over for monarch way. Bentley Brushes etc
I can tomorrow 👍

Has flooded before but nowhere near as bad as this time.
Do you have any footage/photos of soar road that runs alongside the river? My entire life is situated in that area, but i cannot get there right now to check it out as i am stranded by the floods elsewhere.
