Partnering with your client: practical examples
Very useful approach indeed. Thank you
thank you!!
Very well done!
Thank you so much!
thanks you he[ps a lot
Very clearly explained, with the logic behind the choices, from the perspective of the competencies.
Love this! this is the competency I struggle with the most now i do have more understanding. What has emerged for you? I can do a direct translation into chinese but it wouldn't make sense in a conversation! so, really hard
Really great! I'm watching this series preparing for ACC. Find it useful way beyond the exam. will come back to it in the future also
I'm wondering about this in relation to "partnering with our client" and "coaching the person, not the problem" - where is the line between respecting that the client wants the solution (e.g. figuring out how his morning routine should look like) vs. going deeper and asking questions that are designed to coach him as a person. It could seem as a coach is pushing the going deeper, not partnering in the moment when the client wants a "nanny" as you said in the video? What are your thoughts on this?
Thank you for a step by step logical processing of the questions and answers. Very grounded and reassuring.
thank you! very helpful!
wow, this is so helpful
Thank you for these insightful series on the core competences. Regarding translation of "What has emerged for you?", in my native language, Bulgarian would be "Какво се появява за теб/ за вас (до) тук/ в края на тази сесия?" :)
Thank you!!!
This was especially helpful for me.. to bring choice into active istening. Not necessarily using their words if it limits them. And checking into see if what they're sharing is relevant. Staying with the important things.
Thank you for your insight :-)!
NIce
There are many videos regarding the 8 ICF sample questions. Your series were the best ones as you provided comments upon each of the 4 answer options and why vs giving only the best or worst scenario. The mindset behind deciding is what everyone would be lookin for and not just the correct answer. Excellent work!!! well done.
I am so glad!!! Thank you for your kind comment!
is CKA exam the exam that ICF promoting as of nowadays (2024), or CKA was the old version (before 2022)
there is a newer video for that one :-) -- CKA is the old one
Thank you so much for the video series. I benefited a lot from going through the sample question explanations and it clearly formed the base of how i looked at funneling my thoughts and solving each questions . The mock test helped a lot too and i am definitely referring these to ACC aspirants that i come across. I gave my ACC credentialing exam a couple of days ago and happy to share that i cleared it. Thanks a ton !
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you, this is the clearest explanation that I have come across, you have understood a need in the market, which is a need for clarity regarding accreditation. All the best
Hi there -- thank you! We wish it was easier for good coaches to demonstrate their quality 🙂
'Moves' - makes perfect sense, and makes a difference, I felt a shift in perspective when you explained why. All the best
Thank you!
The clicking in the background is disturbing and distracting from the content. Is there a chance that you edit the video? I feel a lot of great content goes missing.
We have fixed it in the newer videos -- not sure if we can do it for this one. But there will be updated videos in the future. Thanks for letting us know.
Very helpful! Thanks so much for moderating me through the sample questions🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for these videos. I am going to write a pilot exam tomorrow and I hope ICF improved the way they assess the coaching competencies better. These is a load of assumption one needs to make to choose so called “the worst answer” and I doubt this type of assessment truly helps the coaching profession.
I agree! You have to spot that no contract has been established and then answer the question.
thank you for your help. You really helped me!!!
Thanks so much for running me through the questions. It was extremely helpful!🙏
thank you Kristen. All of your videos were great and so helpful to understand ho w can I choose the best and specially the worst answers.Could you please share the Mack test with me? I need it as soon as possible you can. thanks.

Thank you Kirsten. all these videos are very informative and easy to understand.
This was very helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for the series. Lot learnt from Kirsten Performance Evaluator's view. Also great demonstration of Coaching Mindset and Presence by Cristina all through the series!
Thank you Kirsten. The way you compared the requirements of set of competencies against each scenario, really helped better understanding of the best and worst response by the Coach.
Fantastic series, exploring the mentality behind certain coaching questions, approaches and techniques was so helpful!
Prepping for my PCC test and finding these videos to be very helpful reminders. Thanks!!
Thank you for this info on comp 7, great insights!!
Thank you for your detailed explanations - very useful!
Very distracting having ads show during the training flow. Solutions Academy can do better for us.
We do not control the ads. UA-cam does this.
Also, we are providing this for free and to help people... I feel a bit hurt by your tone. regards, Kirsten
Fantastic videos, sincerely appreciate all the insights and guidance. Super helpful!
These are phenomenal videos for prepping for the knowledge assessment. Love the way Kirsten breaks it down.
I passed the ICF test yesterday! Thank you for the material you have shared and posted! It was very helpful!! 🎉
You rock!!!!
Can you provide examples for ethical dilemmas between coach, sponsor and stakeholders please?
For example, confidentiality issues when the sponsor want to know what happened in the coaching session. Or if you find out that the sponsor is in your tennis club and a good friend and the client finds this out as well and thinks that you are telling the sponsor things. Another issue could be that stakeholders demand that the client should be let go, you know this but are asked to not tell the client....
@@SolutionsAcademy thanks very much. I reviewed your quest so appreciate it. I take the test this week. I just want to make sure that anytime there’s a third party sponsor stakeholder coach and client, that all parties should be part of the curiosity session I E agreement to discuss boundaries and confidentialities. Correct?
@@deborahbillings5225 Yes, I think this would be best. The main thing, however, is that the content of the coaching sessions remains confidential between coach and client and only the client can share anything with the sponsor, not the coach.
@@SolutionsAcademy I’m very grateful, thanks!
Kirsten, you might want to put these into a playlist so the next video plays automatically.
Good idea, thank you!
Thanks for the 'their' pronoun in place of hir/her. I was not aware of this.
It is quite confusing for non-natives 🙂
Why is 3 not the best answer? Compared to 2?
I think it is because of the "disappointment" -- the "best" coach would probably not feel disappointment, but you are right 3 is also a good option 🙂
thank you for this excellent video Kirsten😊
Thank u so much
I am so glad that this is useful!
This was a beautiful discussion on the topic
Thank you for this important topic. My question is what to do when the client want to do something what doesn't match my values. For example to get married just to get visum? Is it resistance or matter of choice?
Hi there -- I think that you can choose to not coach someone who does not want to build the same world as you. A good question might be to ask "if you married for a visa, what difference would it make to your life" and thereby open the view to possible alternatives. However, if you feel yourself "resisting" the client, it may not be a good match. Kind regards, Kirsten
This does not seem to cover team coaching ethics ????? It appears to be mislabelled...?
Thank you so much for your videos - they are very helpful for my PCC exam prep. Can you please advise why option 2: "Ask the client if they would summarise the entries they detailed in their journal for the coach." is not the worst answer? Many thanks in advance.
Asking the client to summarize is still a step before the coaching agreement. You are asking the client to explore, prioritize, summarize etc., so the coach is not deciding what the coaching is about. Why do you think it might be the worst answer?
Thanks for your kind explanation. I thought it’s the worst answer as the act of asking the client to summarise the detailed entries in the journal for the coach seems irrelevant in the context of coaching.
@@jasminevincent By using the word *IF* the client is still offered an (limited) option. Option (c) leaves client with no choice - it is directive on part of the coach. Hence it is the worst (also because the coach did not acknowledge the unique experiences and values of the client. The client after all put effort into journaling his experience despite bring reticent. The coach sees his expression for the first time).
the worst option could have explained little more clarity
What is still unclear?
My understanding of why 4 is the worst is because a coach should avoid asking 'why' questions. Teri E Belf says this makes the Client defensive and having to justify themselves - also eats away at trust.
@@robertnelson9621 I think "why" questions are not always bad (most of the time yes), but sometimes they can go in the direction of "what is important to you here" or "what are your good reasons"
Kirsten & Cristina, thank you so much for these videos and also for putting together the ICF exam preparation course. I took the exam last week and passed!! Your guidance was pivotal for this achievement. Thanks again! Maurice
I am so glad, Maurice! And congratulations!!!!!
