      I hear you.... I'm a Montrealer 100% pure breed, 48 years old, and I never liked hockey, imagine that!!! That is, until I saw the winter classic game in January 2009. I fell in love with the Hawks for many years. And yeah, it was an incredible ride for the time it lasted....

    What the heck kind of comic bag was that? We’re they only available in Canada? I’m over 50 and I collected comics like a fiend in the late 70’s and all throughout the 80’s and I used bags and boards just like you are using now. Plus John Byrne was and still is my favorite comic book artist. I remember picking up his FF run off the rack month after month. I loved them then and I still love them now.

    I got a Garmin Virb (like a GoPro) camera for Christmas which I thought would be able to handle fast moving objects like pucks so they don't show up blurry as they pass by. But my shots on camera can barely be seen cuz they blur. No option to adjust shutter speed. Toews's shot right at the beginning is clear the whole way. I want that to be captured in the videos I make.

    nice haul...yes, you are likely to be happier collecting what YOU love and want instead of being influenced by others' collections. Carving out your own little niche and find what you enjoy about certain artists and/or characters are the way I have approached it in the past few yearsThe Master of Kung Fu run is actually fun to read. I still have a bunch of low grade readers.

      Hello sir is #117 worth buying for a PC and what would a decent condition sell for? Say a 6.5 to 7.0 Uncanny Xmen #117?

    • @AmedeeBoulette
      @AmedeeBoulette Місяць тому

      @@chicosuave2966 these books should be easy to get in very high grades and for cheap since they were printed in such high numbers that dwarves any modern book. But the market decides. I would go for a 9.0 and above, and pay, raw, around 50$ to 85$ USD.

    I think you scored, Mehdi. Especially with 120 & 121. Beautiful AND cheap = win. My X-men adventures on ebay have been hit or miss. I've noticed that bulk lots usually end up being very economical. On average, I ended up paying about $12.47 each for issues 95-105 because they were all in one lot. The grades varied (5.0 - 7.5), but getting a mid-grade first appearance of Phoenix for essentially $12 was an awesome deal. However, I haven't been quite as lucky since that ebay win.

    yes, once you find a good "source"...keep going back as often as your wallet will allow :) All those X-men reprint from 67 to 93 is rarer in high grade because most people didn't care about them. It was an interesting strategy by Marvel to "cancel" the book but reprint it on a bi-monthly cycle to capitalize on cheap production cost (don't have to pay a creative team) as well as capitalize on the ongoing interest of reading fans as the X-man continued to make appearances in other titles

  • @etanick1

    Number 53 is Barry W Smith first artwork at Marvel....When you flip thru it, have a copy of Conan and Weapon X open at the same time and you will be floor at the the progress Barry went thru from that book to Conan to Weapon X.

    John Byrne started off strong on the FF but toward the end his art started to get ugly because he insisted on inking with markers and the stories started to get dull. Those last few issues where he had that long story about Reed Richard's father living in some alternate dimension was just so drawn out. I do agree that after Byrne left FF became terrible until Simonson came in.

  • @redvitaminblue
    @redvitaminblue 11 років тому

    When you were describing the plot of #261-262 it sounded vaguely familiar, even though I've never read any of these books. It took a few minutes but I eventually remembered a scene in Uncanny X-Men #167 in which Lilandra, after being informed by Gladiator that Reed had saved Galactus, warned the FF that if another living world was destroyed by Galactus then Reed would be put on trial. I love it when events in other books are acknowledged - it gives a sense of continuity in the Marvel universe.

    Yes, I have them... I have an almost complete run from #199 - #400, and I can tell you Simonson was such a breeze of fresh air! After Byrne, things went really ugly and you had to be a fanatic believer to keep up with them... I don't know a lot of people who liked what Simonson did, but I totally loved it, in the true spirit of what the FF is all about!
