Installing Crash Bars on a 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 XCa | Step-by-Step Guide
Nice mount!
Thanks!
Pshhhh, we didn’t even get a Fall this year down here lol
I try these on my gs1250 I still like motor rallz batter than xt+
I’ve never tried Rallz. I keep hearing great things about them
Subbed! Glad to hear that these tires gave you more confidence. On my 4th set now and they are fantastic tires. The non-Dakaer wears out much faster but do stick better on pavement.
Thank you so much @manybikes! I’ll be buying my next set from you again! I love these tires and until I go back to riding at least 60/40 pavement/dirt, or until there’s another equivalent, I’m sticking with these too!
@ nice! I'm ready when you are
it is a great tyre, but the non dakar is much much better than dakar on pavement, so go with that one next time
Reason I went for Dakar is because of my 200lb frame on a 475 lb bike with another 50+lbs of luggage. Just peace of mind with stiffer carcass
Thanks for your review. I’m considering installing these tires on my 2021 ATAS for a trip to the Carretera Austral in Chile ( 1250kms), where 70% of the route is gravel, but there will also be some sections of tarmac. I’m looking for a tire that performs well on gravel roads, especially with a fully-loaded bike and a passenger. Noise is a concern because I'll also be riding Route 40 in Argentina on the way back, which is about 1300 km of asphalt. In your opinion, is this tire a good balance for these conditions, or would you recommend a different option?
If you're mainly riding gravel roads, you could probably go with something like this tire on the front, but a less aggressive tire in the rear like the Mitas Enduro Trail Dakar, which is a 50-50 tire. Get Dakar because it has stiffer carcass and better if you're riding a heavy bike with gear. I had the Enduro Trails previously and they handle gravel really well. I only chose these XT+ tires for the rear because I knew I would be riding in more aggressive, rocky, muddy and loose rock terrain, which they excel at. Don't get the Enduro Trail front tire, it's not great, but you'll be fine if you get Enduro Trail XT+ Dakar fronts. They'll easily last those 1300km on asphalt. Hope that helps and thanks for coming to my channel! Please like and subscribe if you haven't already!
Good feedback 👍
Thanks! And thanks for visiting my channel!
Cool! It great that you have gone through your bike and made sure you got tools that fit certain bolts, lug nuts, and such, instead of just throwing tools in a bag and taking tools you really don't need.
Yeah, there’s a lot of videos where people just throw in A lot of the common tools, but a lot of common tools aren’t really needed and just adds weight and bulk
It’s smaller!!!
Yes, it is. Thanks for the tips!
Its made in China. You have to put it within 1MM of the Mosqito!
So true! Even then, the mosquito seems to be attracted to it 🤣
How have you got on with them?
I absolutely love these tires! Put on 2,444 miles and used 4/32 on the front and 8/32 on the rear. That's with me riding 60/40 off/on road terrain. I still have like 10/32 on front and 6/32 left on rear, so they're wearing pretty well. I'll probably reverse the rear tire. Both tires are non-directional.
@@backcountry4lifeet sur route ça donne quoi ?
@@laurentoutan9922 I have about 3,000 miles on them, still good tread left. About 40% road. They are not loud, but they do grab a little. I rode 75mph for 4+ hours on the pavement on them. They're not 50/50 tires, but If you're looking to ride more road than dirt, I recommend getting something less aggressive.
@@backcountry4life How do they handle on twisties?? The Motoz RallZ are awesome on twisties… wonder if this Mitas will match Motoz performance!? Thanks you!!
@@moulin680 they handle just fine on twisties, although I haven’t tried when rain or below freezing temps. I haven’t ridden on RallZ so I can’t compare. Thx for coming to my channel!
Is the toe box wide enough to wiggle your toes? Thank you.
For me yes because I have narrow feet but I like having some wiggle tow room.
Thought I was the only one who used them as sunglasses LOL
Sweet! Someone else who understands
My next tire for my 890 R👍
Yep..once you start loosening the coiled part...it's only good for a homecoming mum.... get another one ... time and labor intensive.
I ended up going to tractor supply and bought a new one. Wasn’t worth the fight
Thanks for the video, but would you mind listing what crash bars they are and where you purchased them? Also, technically speaking those crash bars are protecting what Triumph calls the upper and lower radiator cowlings. The fuel tank sits much higher.
Thanks. I understand the callout, and I probably could have just called them fairing protection, however on the website I purchased them from, they are called fuel tank protection bars. Here's the link: shop.triumphcleveland.com/store/Triumph-Tiger-800-SS-Fuel-Tank-Protection-Bars-A9780065-p125489535 Yes, I painted them to save money and it's worked perfectly.
I just dropped off my rear wheel this afternoon to get one of those put on.
Awesome! Let me know how you like it! Mine has worn down and so in a couple months I’ll be putting on the Mitas Enduro Trail XT+ for the NMBDR. I hope they treat me well
How quiet are they on road? I had the ones with the center strip at one point✌️on my 690 Enduro R
@@toddbenfield6546 the E-07s are quiet to me on the road. Haven’t really tested the XT+ at highway speed to know
Great video man. Amazing. I'm going down to the end of Baja and back...moto camping alone. I wanna do the AZ BDR very soon after. Little worried about going alone...but it's all ADV right? Thanks for the awesome footage and editing. Did you wear full MX boots...or ADV boots?
Thanks! Yes, as long as you stay off the harder ALT sections. Sec 4 is rocky but doable solo. Im not great in sand and I dropped it a couple times in the black cinder sand so that would have sucked solo, but if you’re good in that stuff you’ll be good. there are some tricky spots. I wore full ADV boots.
Pretty!! Looks like a bunch of fun!
It was a blast. Had some rocky challenges
Looks fun a beautiful

I’ve got one but don’t use it. It’s too stiff, sits up too high and interferes with standing position.
Sell it. They hold their value like a Toyota
Same
Tons of snow!
And a lot had already melted by the time I shot this
What happened to your car?
Nothings wrong with the car. Just had to figure a way to get back to it
Ran a set on the Idaho BDR and did not like them at all. Motoz much much better.
Agree. I since moved to the Mitas E-07 and those are much better for BDR than missions, however, I’m going to be doing the New Mexico BDR this year and will be upgrading to 30/70 tires.
shame open the wrong way. i need stop get someing out i dont have time get off the bike ect police checks. and boders. u have get off to open it mosko failed there. i have old wolfman i look replaceing it.
I will disagree here. Opening the opposite way allows things to fall out and not everything in a tank bag is secured. To each their own. Wolfman is also good product
You mean the most expensive tank bag
It is expensive, but I bought it on sale. Also, it’s worth investing in quality and a company with good customer service
Just got mine. Will use it for my 8 day trip down through Baja and back. Good choices of items and great video. Thanks.
Awesome. Thanks! Seems like a fun trip. I’m doing the full NM BDR in September and will definitely be taking this with me. Let me know how your trip goes.
Oh Sweet. Ill be doing the NB BDR too. Hopefully not a ton of sand. I've heard theres a lot in the SoCal BDR especially the beginning. On my Tiger 900 RP I put on Mission Trailbax 50/50s. Hope they run well. I'm all Mosko Moto panniers and duffle and everything else lol.@@backcountry4life
@kee7678 sweet! I ride an ‘18 Tiger 800 XCa. Used to ride the Missions and I do like them but switched over to the Mitas E-07s. I do like tho like the missions front more than E-07s front.
I was going to get those..the E-07s but dealership didn't have any in. So after a bit more research, got my current Missions. I hear very good things for dirt, on the 60/40 new Trailmax RAIDS. Much softer compound and great off road, will wear fast on the tarmac I'm very sure. I might go with the Raid rear or the E07s next time. What do you use for Sat Nav or for navigation etc ? I've been looking at Active 3 or 4 Tablet...I love the Carpe Iter DMD etc, but pricey!... @@backcountry4life
Cool! Looks very compact and can hold a lot of stuff!
It’s very handy
Thanks for sharing! I never thought there could be such a tiny inflator, I want one now!
It’s awesome
That thing is a howler. I'll bet the woodland creatures just love that.
Ha. By the time I’ve arrived at camp on my 🏍️ , the creatures are long gone. It’s actually not that bad.
Sounds like a friggin jet engine
Yeah, they seemed to have focused more on weight and size than decibels, but then again, I’m typically not pumping up my pad around strangers. It’s actually not that bad. Probably quieter than me trying to get air into those inflation sacks. It’s only 1 minute so I’ll take annoying people for 1 minute over manual labor 🤣
🤝
Thank you
Looks fun! Love the music.
Sweet!
Thanks!
Great video! Depending on the fuel size, you can actually nest one of the foons in the small gap under the fuel cannister if you need to!
Thanks for the tip!
That thing is pretty dang cool!
It's so lightweight!
Try the Ozark Trail micro burner. Same size, comes with an adaptor for the 1lb propane canister, and has an ignitor. About $15, I've owned and used one for over a year.
@@tuathanbashieres3262 thanks for the recommendation! I’ll check it out.
Nice. That kit looks legit. Great for camping or venturing.
What psi you ride
I ride Mfr PSI, so 36 front, 42 rear. If I know I'm going to ride soft ground for a while before I hit pavement again, I'll drop the PSI by 5, but no more than that. This is because I ride a big bike (460lbs dry weight), so with gear I don't want to go too low. I know many who drop their PSI a lot, and sure, the ride feels better, but I've seen more flats from buddies who dropped their PSI too much. Check the Mfr recommended PSI for your bike!
Good for you starting the channel. I can relate to you. I was a scout as a kid. I started as a Cub scout and went all the way to 18. My son's an eagle scout and we did Philmont. Next week I'm picking up a tiger 900 rally Pro. What city and state are you in? If that's not too personal question.
Nice. Keep me posted on how you like the 900 rally. I’m in Prescott, AZ
@@backcountry4life Will do! Enjoying your content.
Ferrocerium rod, not flint and steel. Cool product. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate the clarification!
Is this waterproof?
Yes! My feet have not gotten wet. Obviously only waterproof up to a certain level of water. Here you are amzn.to/44jArP9
Wow
Good advice, right? ;-)
Have ran these tires about 8000miles now on the second set of course great all-around Tire as long as it's not muddy or wet. Use them on a 500 lb dual sport motorcycle about 15% of the time was gravel roads back roads or off-road pretty solid 6,000 mile Tire unless you do a lot of off-roading
Agree. I ended up getting a flat and rode 20mi on 0 PSI. Never unseated but since I ran them so hot I’m going to replace for safety purposes. I’m trying E-07 now just b/c I’ll be doing a little more off-road.
Stop making me feel like a bomb lol
Ha! We only have so much time to enjoy nature.
I agree. I have pants and two jackets - love them!
Sweet!
I've had a pair for almost a year. I rotate with a pair or RevIt! I like mine, esepecially for off-road and standing. RevIt are little more sturdy and Gortex. I got the RevIt! from ChromeBurner and they ship to the US in two days for about half the price we pay here. I did adjust my shift leaver for the O-Neals. Good review.
Thanks M. I'll have to check out the RevIt!
Looks like a pretty solid boot
It's solid and sturdy, but could use some more pivot around the ankle.
