I live in the heart of rattlesnake country near Yost, NY and I have never seen one ever.

Someone got bitten in the sundown wild forrest the last year or two. In the minnewaska mountains by new paltz theres alot too. I bet more people die falling from rock climbing than snake bites. If bet money on it.does it mean you should forget about snakes no never..but people act too paranoid and scared. I've had people repuse to go hiking with me. You know ive went more than 50x never seen 1 rattlesnake yet. I've seen garden snakes alot. Never a copperhead,or timber. Less than 5 ppl have died from timber or copperhead in the last 5 yrs. Just for laughs check car accidents,mosquitos or smoking bet its monumental!

I went to a place in New York that is supposed to have Timbers. The most northerly den, you likely know where I mean. We walked the trails and couldn't find any snakes. I wanted, like you, to see them and photograph them, not bother them, maybe next time.
