I don’t have an Aristocrat, but that Treet razor is top notch!
Awesome shave! Always enjoying watching you, oridnaryshaver and Fuzzy, use these type of razors!
@@DaseT3R thanks, Fuzzy's the reason why I got into these single edge razors.
Good shave Chris. I’m going with my Gem junior bar in the morning. Smooth shaving razor.
@@bwmacho9461 Thanks
What an interesting razor! Similar to a straight razor you control the angle! Cheers
@seanstapelfeld some say gem razors are the closest in shave characteristics a straight razor, and even closer is an earlier lather catcher with a wedge blade.
@CDinVT another great detailed Traditional Wet Shaving video. I hope one day to find a few Kampfe Bros. Lather Catcher razors. Where's a good place to find them? Is there any particular wording to use in the search online?
Thanks on, ebay I have had good luck searching Gem Junior, Gem Junior Bar, Star Razor, Ever-Ready. The text that is stamped on the razor itself is a good reference. With this gem junior, I looked up gem Junior 1901 and that Big Lot this one was in popped up. Even though this is a gem Junior bar 1905 it has 1900, and 1901 patents on the razor itself. Most dealers unless specialized in razors don't really do detailed research. I have noticed searching specific lather catcher model numbers will get people that want retail price if not way above it. Sometimes you do get lucky though. Even if I'm not looking for anything I will check twice a day on eBay.
Are you sure that's not a Regent Tech? Is there any stampings on the head?
@fredlampher8154 it's has patent on package stamped on top of base plate
Great film my friend! I wish I had shops like that near me but sadly I don’t have any
Hey Chris! Great finds on those razors! For the prices you paid, you got an excellent deal! I just found the WWI Property of US Army razor! Those go for a ton on eBay! I paid just $20! And like your razor, they left an original blade in the head. It was all corroded, but I was able to clean it up well! They also had a TV Superspeed, a really nice Autostrop in it's original case, and one of those Star lather catchers from the very early 1900s. The seller wanted $50 for it. I am on the fence with that one! They also had one of those Turk electric safety razors still in the box. I don't know if I would trust that, though. They also had a Gillette Slim Adjustable. They wanted $25 for that. I have too many of them,😅😅! That Aristocrat offers a very good shave!! I have 6 of them, both model years. Three are in new old stock conditions. I believe you can purchase those side caps from Razor Emporium, or if you send it in for a tune-up, they will place them on for you. I am looking forward to your shave with the Aristocrat! Have a great week! JimG
@JimG7755 Nice score Jim, I saw that one on eBay. Glad you won it. I too have too many Slim adjustables .
@@CDinVT I didn't get it from eBay, I found it at that antique store! On ebay they go for ridiculous pricing! I couldn't believe it when I saw that! It cleaned up rather well! I will shave with it soon! I do have a WWI travel case I'll put it in!
@@JimG7755 I saw one last week that sold for 20 bucks on eBay full set, I was dumb not to bid on it I thought you were the one that got it
Very nice find I think you're up the wrong date 8/24/2024 That's my birthday date😅
Thanks, I fixed it. Early happy birthday! Did you end up cleaning up those razors you showed me?
@@CDinVT no I need to do that 😆. I will just clean them up hopefully was just soap and a toothbrush used that I don't use anymore. And probably some scrubbing bubbles and then I will probably send you pictures again through email to see what else to clean. But yeah I need to get cleaning those razors . Also thanks man for birthday wishes
Great find. Hopefully you can get that one fixed and re-plated.
Thanks!
Nice one Chris, you will love the Henson. I got the +++ and I love it and also have the ++ to be honest not much difference I don’t think. Have a good week Atb Paul

I just shaved with my new to me 1969 109 today. Had a great 2 pass shave with nacette blade.
@carlangstrom3025 Congrats!
Wow you are totally clean . I need to improve my shaving skills. I love your channel btw keep up the great work GOD BLESS YOU SIR 🙏
@AlvinLovesAnime Thank you. The more you shave, the better your technique will get, I had some really bad ones when I started de head shaving .
That Nivea lather looks good I might have to try it myself! Have a good 1!
@@seanstapelfeld worth a try for 2.99, you too
Great shave Chris. I saw Matt's video introducing the new Rex razor blades. He doesn't try to hide the fact that they are rebranded Czech blades: Tiger/Tatra. On the Razor Emporium site I noticed they are selling at quite a mark up. So IMHO only worth it if you want to pay extra for the fancy Rex packaging and rebranding.
@@pauldenali6367 thanks Paul, I didn't watch the whole video I just saw he was selling new blades thanks for the heads up
Good shave Chris! I like the Personna blades for Gems, injectors and de’s.
@@bwmacho9461 thanks, I haven't tried the new injector blades I have a bunch of the vintage ones, I'll have to pick some up and give him a try
I have an original Henson MED (I was an early purchaser - before they even began marking the plates) and loved it. It's my go to travel razor. If you get the MED and need a bit more aggression, you can back off the tightness of the handle and head by about a quarter turn or so. It kicks up the aggression a bit. I've done it for a final or first pass when I needed it.
Hey Chris! Nice shave with a REAL adjustable!!😅😅 If you have a Sally Beauty Supply near you, they sell US made Personna DE blades in a 5 pack. I love those, really smooth and sharp! If you ever wish to invest in a good adjustable razor, maybe try the Rex Ambassodor. I have one and the build quality is top notch. They are expensive, but they are lifetime warranty. Matt from Razor Emporium stands behind his products! Thanks for the video! JimG
@@JimG7755 Thanks Jim
Nice combo shave eh,have a great day 🪒💈
@brianerskine3046 thanks, you too
Great video. I would like to ask you. In your personal opinion the head of the 7 o'clock razor is compatible with the handle of the old gillette tech ?
@@armandocovarrubias465 I tried it just now with my pre-war fat handle Tech, it worked and screwed down nice. in the video I used it on my made in England spiral Tech and it worked as well.
@@CDinVT Great. Thanks
The listeners should well appreciate the *contrast* between this razor and the three-piece one from Dollar Tree.
Good video Chris, if I had paid £40 I would still complain. When you pay for something it should be right. But over £100 I wouldn’t touch it. Straight back for a refund it’s the way to go. I told you to buy the Henson. Get the med or aggressive buddy. To be honest there isn’t much difference between the two. You will wonder why you didn’t get one years ago when you use it 😂 Atb Paul
@shavingfox7914 Thanks Paul.
Great video! The 7 o clock is now on my wishlist, nice razor! I have the AL13 mild. I like it very much. Mild and easy to handle but effective.
@@Alaskashaves556 thank you!
Stirling makes great soaps. I enjoy Margaritas in the arctic, especially in this heat. Also really enjoy the Barbershop sent. Great Razor hope you get it fixed. Thanks.
@@carlangstrom3025 thanks for sharing the ones you have experience with, I've been leaning towards their sandalwood and vanilla , executive man. I might get a sample Margaritas in the Arctic. I plan on sending the toggle out to get tuned up next week.
Great shave Chris, They are like the Bali razor and the Frank shaving razor that I will be doing a video hopefully Tuesday if my back gets better. Hope you have a great week Atb Paul
@@shavingfox7914 thanks Paul, I look forward to your review. You too
I can’t hardly find this blade number anywhere. When I do, it’s $1 million.
So any coated .09 3 facet can be used for shaving?
@CincyShaves yes but be careful and do your research because they make so many different configurations. They do make a coated carbon steel blade that I have no experience with. The ones I have experienced starting with the carbon steel are gem Blue Star uncoated, accutech carbonsteel uncoated. For stainless steel gem super stainless uncoated, and my favorite the gem Personna stainless steel coated. The code on them is 62‐0178 . I've heard mixed reviews on the new accu-tech replacements. I do need to get some to review but I have a full package of the old blades. I get my blades in bulk from the razor blade company out of California
Great shave Chris, thanks for the shout out
Thanks
Great head shave! I will be looking forward to the trail videos, glad to be here!
@@seanstapelfeld thanks!
I also had one of those Weishi's a long time ago but I didn't shave well with it, probably an issue with my early technique, I have a similar Baili TTO and it shaves pretty good. Shark blades are very much YMMV, I prefer the Platinum version. I like your focus on budget friendly shaving, not than many channels doing that. Take care brother👌🤠👌
@unclelshaves thanks, Lawrie. The baili razors are definitely on my radar specially the newer mild three-piece and the tto that you recommended me.
I have that razor too in brass. It’s mild but serviceable. I pick cheap Chinese razors up from time to time for fun. Most of them cost the same as a soda. I’ve found a few keepers along the way.
Hi Chris very nice shave!😊 Have a great weekend 👍🏼
@@RobertsClassicShave thanks Robert
Good one Chris, can't beat a good budget shave
@shavingwithpegleg3813 Thanks, scott .
Nice shave Chris. I have the Treet version of that razor too.
@bwmacho9461 Thanks, is the treat version exactly the same, just the logos different?
Yes that’s it
@@bwmacho9461 thanks!
Name should be changed to "Dollar and A Quarter Tree".
@10floz30minutes yes, lmao🤣.
Nice one Chris. Really good shave, Have a great week Atb Paul
Nice shave Chris👍 IF (2 meals a day), cutting out snacks and lower carbs has done wonders for me over the last 6months I've lost about 22kg (48lb), I'm aiming for another 8kg by eoy. Good pickup on the SS adjustable, sounds like it might be an early Rex. I have 2 SS razors (non-adjustable) but tend to get ALU razors because I like the lightness compared to SS. Take care bro👍🤠👌
@unclelshaves thanks, Lawrie. That is awesome! My next modern razor is going to be an aluminum one, probably the Henson.
Hi Chris very nice head shave! Have a great day 👍🏼
@RobertsClassicShave Thanks Robert
Ohh, regarding that stainless steel, adjustable razor, made in the US, it has to be a Rex Ambassodor! If you got it for $120, you got a steel (no pun intended)!! Correct me if I am wrong, but that is the only adjustable that's stainless steel made here! I purchased one a few years ago, it's aggressive just so you are aware, but it is efficient! Can't wait til you share the unboxing of that!! My next big purchase will be a Rex Consul which is a slant adjustable! They are over $300! It will be a bit before I acquire that one though.
@JimG7755 its the oliworks oilblade razor. It looks a lot like a Rex ambassador. I saw a thread on Badger& Blade about it. They have one version that's hybrid open comb on one side and smooth on the other. I don't know if it's a clone and all the details. I figured a US made adjustable stainless steel Gibbs clone for 120 bucks was worth a try
@CDinVT I never heard of that one. Regardless, you got a good deal! I have an original Gibbs #15 adjustable. The only issue is that it takes a proprietary blade. Hopefully your adjustable takes standard blades.
Hey Chris! Great budget shave! That Wilkinson Sword Classic makes a terrific travel razor too! It's plastic so you don't have to worry about it breaking. For the prices for all that gear you used in this shave, you can't go wrong! Thanks for the video! JimG
@@JimG7755 thanks Jim
I bought the Ben Franklin soap based solely on the tongue and cheek description on Stirling’s website. I liked it right away and bought another container including the after shave just in case they ever discontinued it.
Nice shave buddy and congratulations on the toggle. Have a great week Atb Paul
@@shavingfox7914 thanks Paul you too
Where I live I've seen several variations. Gray w/black rubber (the regular one) Black w/white rubber (also regular) Gray w/white rubber (Turbo) Silver w/green rubber (Sensitive) White w/green rubber (Sensitive) Gunmetal w/black rubber (Charcoal) Blue "aqua grip" rubber (regular) Blue "aqua grip" with white (Body)
@bluebirdsigma Awesome! Thank you for the info.
@@CDinVT the only one I currently have is the Charcoal gunmetal one (I'm a DE guy, I'm just getting into carts because why not) and it was advertised as "metalized handle" and it weighs around 30g. It looks metal coated unlike the regular one that seems to be just silver plastic. It came with a single cart with activated charcoal in the lubrastrip. It's a new production one as the Charcoal variety is pretty recent, so it has the cored out neck. I might get a vintage late90s handle one day, these gotta be heavier. But first, I'm gonna get all the other Gillette handles. I just got a vintage pre-WW2 Tech, and a 1993 Sensor Excel, a 2005 Fusion and a 1990 Trac II Plus are on the way.
So psyched to see how a toggle model works---Never knew what the appeal and high cost was about! Hope you and yours survived the destructive rains this week!
@@rightsideupvt thanks, I've been good down here on the West Side Rutland County. I can't believe the devastation up in the Northeast. Once it comes back from a tune-up I'm going to do a shave off between the toggle and the executive .
Enjoyed the shave Chris. Those toggles are cool and unique razors. I too am worried about Fuzzy, and I really hope he hasn’t decided to stop doing videos.
@@bwmacho9461 thanks, I am worried too. I checked my email and nothing, I hope that is not the case.
