Finding a classic car is fun. Finding a 79 Trans Am that has sat since 1995 in a garage is even better! Collin and Daniel team up to get the old girl back on the road.

Great car....well done all .
Sounds like broken bridges on rocker Olds 403 common issue
@dalebell9979 it just needed a few heat cycles. He drives the car daily and it runs awesome
403 Olds see the oil filler tube , nice car. I had a blue one with out t tops it had a electric trunk popper and map lite. One day put 400 Pontiac in it when the Olds dies
Nice survivor and amazing interior
Engine knocks!
On that interior light knob. If memory serves me you can turn the nob with your hand to adjust the brightness of the gauges. Former 1979 Firebird owner chiming in. Damn you! Now I want a 1979 Trans Am! 😁
I am amazed when people try to wipe the years of dust & dirt from windshields without any water or window cleaner..guess scratching the glass is of no concern?
@HomeMadeHotRods it helps when water or some form of liquid is available. In this case, there were non. We just roll with it.
What state are you guys from from New York? I have five Trans Am.
Enuff of the vice grip ripoffs! Be u man
I owned two, 79-301 4spd. 79-400 4 spd.
I had a '79 T/A with the Olds 403 engine and auto trans with the slap shifter. If you put a quadrajet carb on that engine from a '72 Olds 455 and give the ignition a true 10 degrees advance at idle you will find out that the speedo don't stop at 100. It keeps going around, straight down at the MPH text on the speedo is 120 mph, back around to the "0" is 140 mph and I was able to get mine around to the 30 which should have been 170 mph but we think it was more like 160 or 155 mph. I had a lot of fun with that car!!
Find a Set of Pre 70s olds 350 heads ( I m guessing that's a 403) that will bump your compression up. Alott. Port em and polish with dbl springs. You can throw in a pretty decent cam at this point and a mid rise dual plane offenhauser intake and a 650 Holley it should do pretty good with a nice set of headers.

6:00 “this is gonna make me cringe” same brother same 😢
They sell new oem front bumpers online for like $300. Deliver to your doorstep. You just need some brackets. I’m happy with mine but it’s basically just a trim piece.
Thanks, interestingly, any Follow up works on TA; this 79 may be worth restoring, etc……. ??
Great idea. With each passing year, protecting your knees becomes even more important. Love your content, my friend!
That is so cool!!!!❤
When the 1979 T/A came out us kids used to drool every time you walk past one parked. And these were everywhere back then.
Good 👍
Awesome to see you and your family get your grandfather’s tractor back! Even more awesome was to see you get it running! God bless!
Love! LOVE! LOVE!!! My brother and I bought a '65 Impala ragtop with a frozen clutch years ago. We put it on jack stands, fired it up in gear, then stabbed the brakes over and over. The shock to the clutch eventually freed it up. Once we got the wheels to engage and disengage with the clutch, we dropped it off the stands and did burnouts up and down our little country road. It's a primitive way to get it working, but it does work! Beautiful video, my friend.
That's awesome! I plan to try something like that method you guys used . I hope to get it to my house next month and really start working on it . Thanks for watching!
Lifter
I got one of these brand new in 79, what a wonderful vehicle and I wish I still had it.
Hi may I ask how much you paid for that jewel? I have the exact same one, Doesn't look like that it did black with silver trim and black velour inside. I have it up for sale but everyone is telling me too much?? It also has been sitting 1990's also/
I had a 80 Trans Am Black with Red interior and shaker hood, full sticker kit, as my first car in 1990. Biggest regret ever was selling it. Loved it and still do.
This seems like a set up. Like this car was someone's project and was a running vehicle with no real problems. And then it just got parked in the car garage and left. I would go so far as to say this was staged with a good car placed on site and then had dust artificially blown onto it to fake being sitting for a long time. I call foul!
That artificial dust sure was hard to come by. Haha 😄 Call foul all you want, but I promise you none of it was staged. :) Thanks for watching and commenting!
It's actually just an origami car. The whole thing is fake.
In fact! The entire background is green screen!
I want one soooo bad I would take that car over any brand new super car. I kno it sounds weird but I LOVE THEM CARS. and now here comes ELECTRIC. TRUMP 2024 DRILL BABY DRILL 🇺🇸
I got a 1980 T/A, I’m the 2nd owner, I knew the owner from new, and told them I want this car if you ever sell it. I finally got it VERY low miles, it sat outside for a while, I restored it for my wife’s 50th birthday. It is the 1 car we will never let go of. And I had to SUB to you guys, GREAT video.
Really nice car i would of primed the motor first got some oil pressure first built up then fired it off
Great observation. Off camera we actually did do just that . In hindsight, probably should have filmed that portion. Thanks for watching!
Whered that dent come from
Well done and you can use blue lock tight as a sealer when you put the fuel bowl in
Excelente👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💎💎💎💎💎🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You guys are to showoffe had move to better video sorry 😢😅
Lol. Its not an airport, no need to announce your departure.
Whatever Collin paid for this car, it was an absolute steal. Very nice purchase!
Looks like it was a special order car (Graphics delete, two tone interior, 4-wheel discs).
please forgive me on this, before you loaded this awesome beast or sports car, i was just wondering if the past owner every so often try to start the car while it was being parked to keep it alive, second when you came how come you try to see if it s alive etc?
My uncle had one of these.I remember he went off to the army and the motor locked up in it.I remember because dad went to get him in his 70 something chevy heavy half amd ended up throwing a rod towing it back to oklahoma. Those cars are heavy.
That is an awesome story .
I have a 72 TA Barn Find that was in similar shape. Kept the barn find look, but cleaned the heck out of it. Still had to tear the entire car down to fix all the issues. Complete engine rebuild at Butler Performance and complete refresh of drive train. Re-welded the subframe supports, all new bushing, and rebuilt everything mechanical, upgrade to 4 wheel disk brakes. Now 412hp 516Tq The reality of most Barnfinds is they still need a complete overhaul, and it’s more of a preservation than a restoration. Yes it’s less time (9 months vs 2-3 years) but it’s still not cheap. You need to fix a things lot to make them right, but need to have the disciplined to not restore the beauty of time. What’s great if I do wanna ever paint it in the future most of the hard work is already done. The bodywork would be fixing external things not require a complete tear down again.
That car's name needs to be.......Gatsby!
That's a great name for it
Promo*SM 🤣
I’m glad that there wasn’t much wrong with it
I had a 1980 one of these. Automatic trans ☹️. Car was gorgeous and rode smooth. In the 90’s it would have been worth 5,000 tops.
beautiful, thats a real barn find! I have a 79 TA SE, Black w/T-tops. had to replace the 403 Olds with a 455 Olds due to the block being cracked. Lots of fun to drive! I call it the "Panty Dropper!"
That is awesome ! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Ya, maybe a granny panty dropper. 😂😂😂
Looks awesome!!
