Karate Efficiency Basics

A tidbit on the "inefficiency" of kata techniques and how it comes to down to perspective as to the efficiency of the motions. Just a basic technique gang! Not even a scratch on the surface of what goes on in kata. Thanks for checking ISKU!

Which school, of classical Ju Jitsu?
Que estilo de Jujutsu es?
This looks more Aikijūjutsu.
Muy interesante , es un jiu jitsu con muchas técnicas que también se aplican en el Aikido ; como el shijonage.
Very Good!! 🙏🥋
et le mec qui te tiens la main, faisant semblant de te dire bonjour et en meme temps te fiche un royal coup de boule, tu fais quoi shihan ? ben tu cherches du sopalin pour éponger le sang si tu te releves !
Do you have any flow drills showing more random type attacks with more resistance? Basically so you don't know whats coming out of the set routines.
DAMB STRAITE
Very god demostration, i want train some clasic jujutsu.but in my country there are no traditional ju jutsu dojos only bjj ... personally I prefer the original style or this style...
Sinsei Rob doing it!!!
enjoyed watching, and don't disagree but silly is an opinion, like everything else. what is silly to you makes sense to someone else. (I'm sure to someone)
Which Ryu is this?
Toraken ryu jujutsu is a derivative of Hakko ryu jujutsu. Both curricula are taught.
@@robertmrivers I see, thanks for the answer!

brilliant strikes atemi - waza then into technique
I wonder if this will work in real life
You are wellcome to visit the dojo and try over there
Can anyone explain the difference between ju-jutsu, jiu-jitsu and ju-jitsu to me?
Hans Rabjerg They are all tranliterations of the same thing.
@@lmclm1755 Thanks for the answer :)
@Vincent D'Amore exclusively? I've heard there are branches of the sport where they focus more on striking
Ju Jitsu written is always a eurpeanised version. Also in Germany Ju Jutsu as Jiu Jitsu are modern mixed arts. Jiu Jitsu is also mostly a westernised version. The pure japanese is written Ju Jutsu with the style name like fore exampe Fusen Ryu Ju Jutsu. In Japan Ju Jutsu is only a term . They always have also the name of the style and they can diifer greatly.
I remember in an old samurai movie, they pronounced it "joo-jts." The vowels were almost silent.
TOO PREACHY DUDE!
Hey, Rob-sama, shoot me a Facebook message when you can. I need your insight into a few matters.
Just realized that Reverse Wrist Press is not Kote Gaeshi... Things remembered...
Very good video.
Thank you, can you tell me where I can found some material about it? I would like to write an article about Kakie and Kakete but I need to know more details. If you have some indication please contact me. Best regards
Robert Rivers thank you for your answer. I read an article from Ryan Parker where he describes kakie and kakete in two different method of training. Kakete or kaki di and kakie. But probably I make confusion. Best regards
Hello Mr. Robert River I'm Alessandro from Italy and I am a young karate lover. I tryed to visit you site for take your e-mail but the site it's impossible to open. I would like to know the difference about Kakie and kakete. Can you tell me something about this. I would like to write an article on it. Please contact me. Best regards Alessandro
Alessandro Mario Rebuscini they are the same thing. Kakie is okinawan dialect and kakete is more mainland Japan dialect.
I could have been a little more specific. Kakie is the practice of the skill. Kakete or kakedi is the actual application.
I was about to bash the hell out of the quality of this video, then I noticed it was uploaded in 2008 lol
Nice work :-)
You said the starting position of the hand holding the scabbard to the blade shows the skill of the wielder. Does that mean it's considered arrogant for a beginner to start with their hand half-way up the blade or further?
You make it clear that Chiburi is mostly symbolic. Is Chiburi just the action of getting the blood of the blade and ready to strike again or sheath, or is it also a symbol that you are done with fighting and will put the blade away at once? Basically, do you only do Chiburi once you are finished with fighting or do you often use it after a cut before going back into a ready stance?
I read in a book that I should curl the pinkie of my left hand under the bottom of the sword hilt and I notice you don't do this. Is this just a variation in style of holding the sword?
As a person learning Iaido on my own, I imagine I'd develop a "hodge-podge" of styles naturally, as you put it. But does that not just make it my own style? I get the impression you disapprove of this and is it frowned apon?
This is aikido or some shit
Eldrich Blacklion if it was aikido, I would have called it aikido... it is jujutsu. I'm certain I've never insulted u. Why would u post something like that in someone else's page when u are ignorant of the style...?
Robert Rivers Why do you find it insulting when I assume a guy wearing an aikido garb is doing aikido?
Eldrich Blacklion precisely... its not aikido garb. In fact, I'm wearing a montsuki, which aikido never wears in training. I'm wearing brown and blue, which aikido would never wear. Have you ever studied aikido or jujutsu?
Yeah, I practice jujitsu. There's a bunch of techniques here that I've never seen even though I've been doing it for five years. That combined with the aikido garb makes me think it's aikido.
Eldrich Blacklion you practice jujitsu, or jujutsu. Jujitsu is not a word in Japanese. This is my point. I gather you train in Brazilian jujitsu or a derivative. I have trained in Classical Japanese jujutsu for nearly 30 years. The fact that you don't recognize the most basic of jujutsu techniques says a lot. However, I understand those like you with a narrow focus of martial arts might recognize this as aikido. Aikido has its roots in Japanese jujutsu, just as judo, Brazilian jujitsu, and hapkido do. These techniques are the tachi waza, or standing techniques. The ne waza, or ground techniques more familiar to ground fighting practitioners, would be in another video. Thanks for the comments.
Thanks to everyone for the views, comments, and questions. It's difficult to answer technical questions in a comment box. The dojo is always open and anyone is welcome to come by for a private lesson.
I'm not sure what part of Jujutsu BASICS people do not understand. By your logic, firearms training at the range is a waste because that's not how attackers really attack. This is all beginner material. And yes it works fine practically and at speed (I am a police officer.)
Excellent video of basics. I practice Aikido and I love the style. Why do so many people have to say "but it won't work in real life". I'm 67 and wish I had known this stuff in my teens - not to punish others but to protect myself from bullies. Cheers.
martial artists who created this techniques knew way much more about combat and weaponry than some one in a gym who keeps using a macebell and repeating that this locks dont work
what is the style?
eh...this just doesn't feel like something that would work in a real altercation. even with someone who literally has no fight training. and don't get me wrong, i learned a martial art that had 90% of these moves in it, and i thought the same thing back then as i do now watching this video. i dont think its wise to think a guy is going to throw a punch, and you're going to automatically throw over your shoulder and twist and fling his body around etc. some of the take downs are good, but its the ones with the least steps that can be done the fastest that are good. some of them really absurd.
Nizz 0matic sorry u feel that way. I'm a police officer and I use this system every day. U watch a BEGINNERS tutorial and an introduction to the art and shoot it down without knowing anything about it.
What the hell are you expect from watching basic fundamentals.
Maybe you did not learn the art.... Maybe you did not want to learn.... The learning of a Martial Art is something very personal.... Sometimes people got then wrong way
