Setting Deck Pier Blocks Recovered Material From Our Lost Material Due to the Caldor Fire.
Переглядів 692 місяці тому
This is our 32 acres. It is an original town site founded in 1850's of a successful gold mine and town. We actually want to sell our home and build our new home here. We are getting older, and this would be a perfect place. Unfortunately, the Caldor fire destroyed most of the trees and our life savings. Chin up though we are progressing. Life isn't fair, but you just keep on keeping on! Please ...

      @@agnosticsister My parents would get rid of dogs, even when they were like a brother to me when I was very young. I remember having dogs and the attitude was "they are only dogs." But as I got older I gained more empathy for all things alive. I'm not a vegan, but I get it. My babies are like little people that are alive and have feelings and personalities. They communicate with you, mind you that they attempt the vulcan mind stare until you figure out what they need. I really have their back now. They can get into so much trouble and not know it. you have to be on alert for them. We recently bought tractive trackers for them and they work great. @@homesculptor Yes, when I was younger I remember the dog lived out back in the dog house - I can't even fathom that idea now! Dogs & cats are an extension of my family. 🧡 That tracker sounds pretty cool, I may look into that for my cats. I don't let them out because of the wildlife where I live, but if they escape because I don't close the door all the way (like I just did on Sunday) they'll definitely go exploring and I wouldn't know which direction to look first. 😺😺

      What should I do in the morning when I let them out and all day long when they are in the daylight? The sun is 10,000 lumens, while the Ryobi Flashlight is only 3000 lumens, and the exposure is about 5 minutes vs 10 or more hours. I think you are a bit over sensitive or not aware of these fact. I hope they help you. You see, the Mountain lion was hiding in the brush, and I walk outside first and then go back in to let the dogs out if I see no glowing eyes in the brush. I hope you didn't look at the sun to long without proper sun gazing glasses, as yes, I agree that the sun will do damage, but if a flashlight has you alarmed, the sun is way worse. Don't worry about flashlights over the sun okay? However, after doing extensive google research and I also called my vet, and they said that holding a flashlight will not harm the dogs. They did say in subtextual in between the lines that I should not bind them in chains and hold their eyelids open with fish hooks, and then shine directly in their eyes. They told me that would be horrible, and I agreed, and would never do such a thing, but I thought you may think I do that sort of thing, so I wanted to attempt to calm you as I see you are concerned for animals! They are great! I must run on some more. Toodaloo. Thanks for you concern.

      Oops! It was quite a while ago. I think I remember, due to the 2 and 3rd gear cluster being several thousand dollars for those, at the time, I should have just purchased a used one. I did get it working, but there was a slight grind, very slight, when going from second to third. I like wrenching on things, would love to have the time to do it more. I'm so stretched out on things I like to do, there is not enough time in a day. I hope I can keep on going in the afterlife. I'm thinking about Jesus as I get older, and that I don't want to go to hell when I die. So that's that!

      Thanks for noticing. It appears that UA-cam have retaliated against me for complaining about the government. My stats show a drastic drop immediately after the fire when we discovered that the USFS was obstructing firefighters from protecting human life and property. If Hitler would have used their tactics, he probably would be alive today. It's amazing how you can use disaster events to depopulate areas to affect elections, or just harass groups that flock together, but have different political viewpoints. Apparently, UA-cam is an arm of the state media they control, and suppress any government criticism. I've been throttled back millions of views since I reported the following. I was a Caldor fire victim, and CBS 60 Minutes [ua-cam.com/video/E4Fo5ImJWJI/v-deo.html] learned that the USFS prevented firefighters from fighting the fire when it first started. So, the let it burn until it was unstoppable. This was also the case in Dixie, and Tamarack fires, and this information comes from a Congressional Investigation that revealed USFS was allowing fires that could be extinguished, to burn until they couldn't. Why would they do this? Because it creates another "industrial complex," not unlike the military industrial complex. For instance, Google Forbes: Wildfire billionaires, and you'll also see a profit motive of up to "70%" more profit from timber harvested from wildfires. It's diabolically brilliant scheme. Nobody would think that wildfire timbers are not harmed for lumber harvesting at all. In fact, no permits or environmental studies that cost 100s of thousands of dollars to deforest through normal harvesting, which for some odd reason they bar most harvesting allowing fires to be fueled even more. So, just letting my viewers know what happened to my channel. USA seems to be following the old USSR model of suppression and only allowing state and those who blindly support corruption profit, while they stifle freedom of speech.

    What they should do after every fire, clear dead crap out to help new live trees and such grow. Great time to replant with ease in maintaining it, too.

    • @homesculptor
      @homesculptor 2 місяці тому

      They typically don't. I own this 32 acres and am clearing it myself when I can. We've heard about how the industrial military complex needs wars to keep profits up. I think there is a new complex in the forest fire industrial complex. FEMA funds cleanup crews, and every penny is given to the corporations that do the cleanups. To keep this cash cow paying, fires need to be happening. I've never seen as many forest fires and the one to blame is global warming, and a few obscure arsonists. I think if they put a moritorium on harvesting wildfire timber, which they do because the timber for lumber is not affected by the fire. The only trees destroyed for lumber are older dead bark beatle kills. They burn, but the green trees that burn still have pine needles in them as they are wet wet wet and the lumber is still good. See, Forbes: Wildfire Timber Billionaires. They make an additional up to 70% profit because they save all the fees and environmental impact study costs. As for new growth, my neighbor had a company that got a grant to follow FEMA who only cleared 100' from public access roads for safety. This grant paid additional money to contractors and what they did was destroy what was left and rutted the soil so deep with rippers people cannot walk on their land without fall hazards. They also only planted cheap pondorosa pines. I would not allow them on my property. Where dead trees are still standing I have way more new growth. Not just pondorosa pines, but cedars, firs of several types and oaks. I can still walk on my property and it is still green. What they did was rape the land for this grant, and walked away leaving a horrible mess.

    Back in the day when I did have a motley crew of youtube viewers. Catching up, I was a victim of Caldor fire. Who would have known that timber that is killed in a wildfire does not burn due to the moisture content. I only kills the cambion layer, which kills the tree. The lumber prices give up to " . . .70% more profit for wildfire timber," see Forbes: Wildfire Timber Billionaires. Also see Grant Inghram, Cal Fire Chief, who was troubled and blown away that the USFS sent fire fighters home on their way to fighting the fire that started less than 2 miles from Grizzly Flats, ua-cam.com/video/E4Fo5ImJWJI/v-deo.html, where my ranch was burned down, and the whole town, save a handful of homes, with one death. See ABC 60 Minutes Congress revealed that, contrary to the media, USFS had reversed their "fires out before 10:00 AM the next day policy," to "monitor" or "let it burn" policy. The were blaming potential arson with a the hugest profit motive in the planet earth on global warming, so organized crime stepped in under the auspices of FEMA to harvest timber stealing it from landowners and tax payers, where FEMA contractors made bank! Now when there are no fires, FEMA contractors set on billions of dollars of equipment that stop earning if there are no fires, and lobbyists bribe officials to turn a blind eye to his and victims get nothing. For pointing out this possibility as a speculation, which should be considered, YT seems to have throttled my once thousands of dollars per month ad revenue down to almost nothing.

      Rafters are doug fir. They are structural. Everything out the outside is cedar, so had I not, as you say, "sistered," they would not be as rot resistant. Cedar is not typically structural. I mill my own logs, and could have made them one doug fir, but that would have ruined the theme. Also, I guess you didn't see that the rafter tails and freeze blocks were also routed, as well as all the exterior trim and the siding I milled from a tree on my property.

Mix in the egg and molasses. Sift the dry ingredients together. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix in the water. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean. I bet your muffins are excellent! If you can find another house framer that does this, let me know. This is just a shed, but I do this on homes I build. The point is that these things are no longer done due to high costs of permits that rob craftsman of doing these for peoples projects. I guess with me, it's not really about the money.

      Tell me about it. I own 30 acres, and the Caldor fire left me with a lumber yard. The other day I milled an oak. Solid oak 2x10x12'rs. I was going to make it for the door, but instead I'm going to make an oak picnic table 12' long.

      Apparently So! 30,000 people per year, could have used this sound advice! "The National Institutes of Health also estimates that there are more than 30,000 table saw injuries in the U.S. annually. Fingers and hands are the body parts most frequently injured by table saws. The medical costs of treating injuries caused by table saws top $2 billion annually." Thanks for responding! Pretty cool!

    Did you do the roof before the siding so you could run the scaffolding through the studs?

      Yes, I have let in bracing on the walls as well as line braces and gable braces. Because I'm doing it by my myself, It was handy to run the long scaffold through both sides, and get it weathered in. It's snowing now, so I can cut the trim and siding under the roof. The scaffolding aided in the first 2/3s of applying the shingles. Then I used two ladders at 45 deg. angle with ladder scaffolding and that worked well, except it was like planking exercise to get the top shingle runs done. Kicked this old mans but.

      I'm using my router on the lumber I milled. All the exposed wood is cedar off my property. Thanks for the comment. Have a great day! Where are you from?
