Dass Fach-Personal (ich ehem. LTG Angehöriger, u.a. C 160 "Anlass-Kollege" u.
Is it just me or is this big military plane stuck in the grass? Give me more power ! I said MORE POWER!!! Sorry that was fun but really somebody needs to move the caulk sticks and let that pilot get that big boy out of the grass and on the tarmac where it rightfully deserves to be. Thats a cool old plane. I wonder what the load capacity is for that model? Still a cool piece of history.

The are, as mentioned below, Rolls Royce Tynes, a little small engine compared to the Trent. And a question, Jan, Tyne & Trent, are names of what, in fact I belive that all RR engines have names such as these?

It stands in the Speyer Technical Museum, Germany. Nice museum, great collection, and really enthusiasic staff. This one is placed besides the parking lot, so it's practically the first thing you see. However, it's mostly overlooked - it's diffcult to shine besides an Antonow An22, a Boing 747, a Buran shuttle, a Sojus module, an U-Boat, steam engine fire trucks etc.
analyste I knew what it was. We participated in some exercises with them in Crete in the early 70s. They actually have several things in common. They are both turbo props, the fuselages are very similar, the main gear are in pods on the sides of the fuselage. It was my opinion that the C-160 looks like a baby C-130. You are entitled to yours and I am entitled to mine. I thought it looked like a baby C-130 the first time I saw one when we parked next to it in Souda Bay, Crete, and I still do. Rather you like it or not.
Mad Max I compared the two aircraft as they were in 1972. The length, height, and wingspans are very close. But The C-160 max takeoff weight is 102,000 lbs, the C-130E is 155,000 / 175,000 lbs. The C-160 has 2 engines with a total of 11,330 horsepower, the C-130E has 4 engines with a total of 16,200 horsepower. The C-160 max fuel is 6868 gallons the C-130E is a little over 10,000 gallons. Wikipedia says the C-160 is similar to the C130, the C-123, the G222, C-212, and the An12. It also says they have similar rolls. The C-160 is a little bigger than I remembered it being. Maybe it is more like the C-130’s little brother.
So u have never seen how it looks like if u start up a brand new turbine for the first time...YT is full of that. The smoke is caused by burning oil but not from a leak...its just the oil which was too much...nothing to worry about.
Max Haines I have been in aviation since 1968. With 8 years in the Air Force, all on C130s and another 7 years with the Coast Guard and have seen many turbine engines first start up after a rebuild. Never seen any of them produce that much smoke. But I have seen plenty radial engines start up, and rather new or worn out, they produce plenty smoke. And after each flight oil is streaked way aft on the fuselage, the nacelles or the wings which ever the case may be.
Scramble scramble!!!!! 15 minutes later,it's almost burning fuel!!!!!! Another 10 minutes and it should be a self sustaining start-up!!! I mean really,I've had below freezing starts of oooold Cummins engines And big block fords go quicker!!
That’s a lot of smoke. No guy watching the start up with fire extinguisher ready and doors already sealed on this start up. I can see why....cough, cough. About the chocks.....you had one job! Get the chocks to a safe distance!
Ich bräuchte den Sound als Klingelton UNBEDINGT!!! Wäre das machbar? Ich würde mich echt freuen.

Crime against environment
From their shapes and sound, the engine are turboshaft. But, they generate so much smoke at start like radial engines.
Euro 0?
10-10 oil
what a mucky old crate.
What airport is this at
Is the plane still airworthy You need to park it on concrete Outher wise you will Fuck the tyres
Inhibiting oil is not nearly as good a fuel as jet A1.
It sounds like a melody.👏👏👏

I think you need a new flight engineer

Introduced the fuel way early hence the smoke at low rotation. Not to mention fuel running out the exhaust.
That was oil
I think the piston rings are worn, or was it the valve stem seals🤔 I can't remember.
This thing is a turboprop 😅

Giving it a run is really good for the motors outher wise they just Fuck out after time not started from time to time
They're not turboprops, are they?
Turboprops Rolls Royce Tyne
This aircraft looks like a baby C-130.
This is a C160, nothing common with a C130= so stupid as tho say the Airbus A400M is a baby C17...
When it gets a little older , it’ll sprout its outer engines. 😁

That looked more like a radial engine start up instead of a turbo prop. Makes me think there may be an internal oil leak

The inhibiting fluid used for these engines can be mixed 50/50 with regular diesel fuel and used for a car engine. Don’t ask me how I know!
How do you know? ;)
