Does anyone know the meaning of the date October 12, 802701? October 12 corresponds to the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus but what does the year correspond to? I think it has something to do with the length of the Scaliger period (7980 years) multiplied by 100 but I don't know the details of the calculation.

Fantastic music. One of those rare cases where the film is better than the book. Rod Taylor was wonderful it and so was Alan Young.

Forward pressure, moves the machine into the future and backward pressure moves the machine into the past, for some reason they forgot about the rules in the Big Bang Theory. I think Rod Taylor doesn't get enough credit for his portrayal of George, he really 'sold it', the conviction and vision were sincere and genuine.

I always interpreted that large thunder crack at 1:00 as a foreshadowing of the nuclear bomb that laid waste to London further on in the movie.

I always weep a little. The soundtrack is so good. It's all about how we used to be unashamed of our accomplishments instead of saying how we never did anything without exploiting someone else, instead of pulling together as Americans and proud to be so. A Christian nation. Now we have kids who hate the sex they were born!

If you put this video at this speed "0.25x", play from 1:43 and pause at the right time then you'll see a piece of paper that reads "Back Frame" -- and in the upper right corner is a thumb.

Fun Fact: There are definitely some similarities between the Morlocks from *The Time Machine* and the White Walkers from *Game of Thrones*. Here's a breakdown: **Similarities:** * **Subterranean Dwellers:** Both the Morlocks and the White Walkers reside underground. The Morlocks live in a network of tunnels beneath the surface world, while the White Walkers inhabit the Lands of Always Winter, a region far north of Westeros. * **Nocturnal:** Both creatures are primarily active at night. The Morlocks avoid the sunlight that the Eloi live in, and the White Walkers are weakened by it. * **Predatory:** Both the Morlocks and the White Walkers pose a threat to humans. The Morlocks capture and presumably eat the Eloi, while the White Walkers reanimate the dead as wights to bolster their army. **Differences:** * **Motivation:** The Morlocks' dependence on the Eloi as a food source drives their predatory behavior. The White Walkers, however, seem driven by a desire to extinguish all life in Westeros. * **Intelligence:** The Morlocks are depicted as somewhat intelligent, capable of operating machinery and living in a rudimentary society. The White Walkers are portrayed as intelligent but mostly focused on destruction. **Origin Story:** * **Morlocks:** In *The Time Machine*, the Morlocks are a descendant of the working class in the far future who have adapted to their underground environment. * **White Walkers:** The origins of the White Walkers in *Game of Thrones* are shrouded in mystery. Legends suggest they were created by the Children of the Forest to combat humans, but their true purpose remains unclear. Overall, both creatures share some characteristics of being subterranean, nocturnal predators, but their motivations and intelligence levels differ. The Morlocks are driven by a need for food, while the White Walkers seem to have a more complex and destructive agenda.

Paul Gallico wrote a novel as a sequel to the movie because the film did not had the ship sinking into the ocean. Rogo, Rosen and the Red Buttons character went back into the ship (!!!!). They ran into two competing salvage crews and a team of “pirates”. Rosen decided to die to be with Belle while the ship’s nurse turned out to have survived. The film adaptation was very different .

Always wonder why they didn't hit them with repeated nukes, until their shields broke. Also, an airburst EMP prior to a series of ground detonations. If they had hydrogen bombs back then, that would have made a hell of a difference.

@@halo-cn3ku That's a good point, and something I didn't know. Hindsight is always 20/20. It would make more sense to EMP their shields while dumb bomb nukes were already falling on their position. No. More. Martians.
