Beautifully said. As a divorced man, I still wonder whether my youthful thoughts of becoming a benedictine were a calling. There is an abbey near my home I visit weekly. Even though I have never taken religious vows it is also true that I recently have started taking herbology classes so I am a student of botany. I guess that makes me Joe Pugh, S.O.B.!

Moving "Out West" in 2013; purchasing a home in nearby Killdeer, the wife and I have eye spied this BEAUTIFUL "church". We have driven up to closer investigate. After some time I wondered HOW it, as conspicuously a Catholic entity, was not affiliated with the #3 others in the area that obviously operate as a group (St. Joseph's TwinButtes, St. Paul's Halliday & St. Joseph's KillDeer). Seemed to me (prior to stumbling onto this site) Assumption Abbey in Richardton, ND was "stand alone" Yet reading above I learn of affiliate Tibati in Bogota, Colombia. How interesting. I reared in Loretto, Pennsylvania; we have serious Catholic enclave there.

So close, I made my first Communion in 1955. I still have my First Communion Rosary by my bedside. I say it daily. I remember Irish Father Harte. Nice memories to see the back steps of the Sacred Heart Church. I stood there for my First Communion photos. I learned my first sung mass there..Misa de Angeles= Mass of the Angels. I must have sung that Mass many, many times in my life. Blessings to you. Thanks for posting.🌹

0:17 I'd live there. We don't NEED anything this secular spits out at us. I've grown so sick of hearing buy buy buy! every time I turn around. I don't need anything that trash heap world spits at us. I do need silence and to be closer to God. The more I give away, donate or throw out, the free'er I feel. It's not all that shockingly to me. Thank you brothers for making this video. A blessing and great teaching for the youth called to be God' and not this world'.

Islam is a religion that calls for the worship of the One and Only God, there is no god but Him and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God Islam is a religion that calls for tolerance and non-racism, and Islam talks about the Prophet Jesus and his mother Mary in the Qur’an , , it talks about miracles that are being discovered now. You can search for that. Islam forbids immoralities that science has discovered that cause diseases and pain. Islam is suitable for people, and it is a cure for the hearts and against racism. I advise you to enter Islam before the day of judgment comes. That day you will remember that I told you that , If you embrace Islam, you will find light in your heart and you will enter heaven in sky after death......

Monastic life is one way of being human. There will be monastics for as long as there are humans. That said, the number of monastics varies in different time periods. In the current time period there are fewer monastics. Possibly looking at the monastic experience outside of the Benedictine experience would be helpful. There are non=Christian monastic traditions where, after being a student monk, the individual goes out into the world, married or not, to gain life experience, and then returns to the monastery in later life, till the end. A full life.

An aggressive stance to take when both Protestant and Catholic monks share a calling to God. It is NOT for you to decide or cast judgement. This divide was caused for all the wrong reasons, but ultimately it is the same God. You are allowed to not *like* it, but those are mere opinions to be kept to yourself or at the very least not try to influence others with them. Let the Protestant monks live and love, just like you would any "true" monk. They are ultimately there for the same reason. A call to God. Remember that it is not for you to decide whose call is the "right" one.

I agree with what he says here, but I really think they should allow older gentlemen into this life. Most people usuallt come to this realization in their later years and they can bring much wisdom. I have thought about this, but I am in my mid 40s, so I don't qualify, which is a shame.

I discovered the Abbey when I was a student at the then Mary College now U of Mary back in 1978, where I made a Search Retreat. A few years later, while living in Bismarck, I became a Benedictine Oblate. I am originally from Eastern Montana, but North Dakota is my second home. I now live in Memphis, TN and whenever I fly into Bismarck, ND, and rent a car, I always make it a point to stop at the Abbey to spend some quiet time with the Lord.
