It is great to hear this one again. Thanks you for posting this. My understanding is that this one was shot at the end of the school year (senior year) when they thought that their two-year run as the community's elite quartet was about to end. the UA-cam audience was only beginning to discover them at this point. The director told me that many of the songs posted at this time were intended for the girls themselves as they got homesick during their first year at college, as well as for family members and friends. At this point, they had no idea that the emerging fan base of strangers meant that their best days as a quartet were yet to come.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the song "Anyone Else But You" is a very, very beautiful song and the singers did a really good job. Maybe I'll make a video with the song soon. I just heard about the incident with President Trump, I really hope he comes back well and strengthened.

Don, thanks for posting this. You actually posted the best performance of the song. On this recording, they had rehearsal time and the studio resources to really do it right. About a year earlier, Crystal Ball Records, a company specializing in "oldies" was preparing to release a compilation CD called "Doo Wopin' Around the World" which would feature the best Doo Wop groups of the 21st century. Their problem was that they didn't have a girl-group. At the last minute they spotted the videos of The Four Quarters and realized that this was the group they needed. Bruce Hamby had two songs that he had written for girl-groups before he realized that there were no girl-groups left in modern Doo Wop. He rushed this song to the 4Q's just to get it recorded. The promotional video of it that the group shot sounded pretty good, even with the sound quality of the video camera. But, it looked awkward since they were very stiff singing the unfamiliar song and trying to read the notes off the sheet music without being too obvious about it. It was not an especially great video to have missed. Most of their other videos were more relaxed and polished. Of course, their studio recording of it was much better. They were one of the four groups selected for the cover of the compilation CD, and Crystal Ball asked them to record their own CD, "A Pocket Full of Change" a year later. That one included the other Hamby song "Anyone Else But You" which wasn't their most watched recording, but was probably their signature song. I hope this adds some context for your viewers.
