    We used to sprout too, but kind of fell out of it as well. I like to top a hamburger with them, like lettuce and our chickens like them too 😊 We have our garden torn down for the winter as well, and we hauled about 12 wheelbarrows of goat manure out of the barn and dumped it on the garden to compost over the winter and then till in the spring ❤😊❤

    Beautiful playing! As I mentioned in my reply, earlier, I did play the flute too for a couple of years. The most advanced piece I ever learned to play was a march called, “Bravura.” I had to take flute lessons in order to be able to learn how to play it (so I could go on the band trip to Magic Mountain!) That was decades ago 😂 Do you still play?

    This was so cool to see, Heather. I studied horticulture for a couple of years a long time ago and did some landscape gardening. I don’t have a garden space now, just a few containers. You could level out some of that ground back there-though you might need to rent the equipment or just hire someone to do it in a day and also add soil. If so you could add steppingstones. In the areas where you want to garden, lay down weed deterrent material and just plant in some holes you make in it. Guessing you’ve probably seen that kind of preparation done. I’m not sure what kind of deer/critter deterrents are available as I haven’t had to deal with that too much where I live. It’s an adventure-how cool that you have that open land and some space to garden!

    • @HeathersGardening
      @HeathersGardening 9 місяців тому

      That’s cool that you studied horticulture! I just kind of do what I want. I love the stepping stone idea, hopefully they don’t sink along with me! 😆 I’m actually thinking of just planting in that front area then slowly move back further and further each year. That back area is so wet it might not be practical to plant anything there. Thanks for following on my journey! ♥️♥️

    I live in PA too, but I just moved to a mobile home, so I will be planting in containers. In your wild, weedy areas, you can put down layers of newspaper or cardboard to kill the weeds, and the mulch really well. It won’t help with the swampy area, but your land isn’t all swampy. Enjoy!

    • @HeathersGardening
      @HeathersGardening 9 місяців тому

      Those are great ideas! Yeah, the swampy area is probably never going to be anything. It’s a shame, there is a huge area of land there. Thanks for tuning in neighbor! Hope to see you again and hear about what’s growing in your containers!♥️♥️

    Hi Heather! Love seeing other’s gardens. Love the raise beds, eventually we want to transition to them. Ground gardens are soo much work. Im in South Carolina, so we are in the clear for any frost dates. But still been a little cold to place anything in ground. We have blackberries bushes that are starting to get their leaves and our blueberry bush have already started flowering. Thank you for sharing💛

      Sweet that you can start planting already! I’m itching to get out there, but it’s still too early. I need to get dirt though to be ready. You are right, it’s a lot more work gardening in the ground! We did that when I was a kid and I remember all of us going out in the hot sun to help. Weeds never ending!! The garden beds aren’t as bad with weeds. Very manageable. We have wild blackberries that are edible in the woods, but the berries are so small it’s almost not worth it. I’ll have to show them once they grow. Thank you Cyd for following on this new adventure! I’m excited to hear about your garden too. ♥️♥️🪴👩🏻‍🌾

    I live in north central Texas, so my growing season started in February. I have onions, and peas growing. Soon I will plant my warm season crops. I have started my tomatoes and peppers indoors. My problem is the extreme heat in summer and my pests are ferrel cats that like to dig in my beds. I love the beds your husband built. I am gardening in felt bags. I like them because I can move them around if I need to. The ground here is builder's clay so I am doing container gardening. Good luck on your garden this year.
