Sick of the Jane’s addiction comparisons. And as much as I love the flaming lips, which is who I’d group tripping daisy with over Jane’s addiction, their presence was so damn unique on the mid 90’s. Jane’s addiction is a one hit wonder in my opinion. Along with porno for pyros one hit.

I remember edgefest at starplex (if you know, you know). A major lineup of national acts. The radio station did the right thing and let tripping daisy close. (Curious what the bigger acts were thinking, who are they? They’re closing?). It was absolute chaos on the lawn. Cups flying everywhere. People rushing the stage. The attendance was still full, because everyone wanted to see them close the show. What a memory. Im so proud of the Dallas music scene that I grew up with.

I scoured the live versions of prick that tripping daisy have done the past decade or so. As good as the lead guitarist is, as close he is to replicate Wes’ solo, it’s night and day. Wes’ bends, timing, cadence. It just can’t be matched. The way he shreds. It’s so fucking effortless. …and from what I understand, Wes did this in one take. RIP, Wes. One of the best guitarists to come out of dfw along dimebag, SRV.
