Can the Fender Rumble 100 v3 keep up with a drummer? (part 2 - 5 string edition)

Last year I did a video on if the Rumble 100 could keep up with a drummer. I still think the amp is more than capable for jamming and rehearsals. With the XLR out you can go direct into a PA or interface. Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Special 5 direct into the Rumble 100. I haven't posted a video in a while and wanted to give you a clip of a beach music classic I have been working on. Played on my 2021 Fender Am Pro 2 P-bass with a Duncan SPB-3 Quarter pound pickup. Recorded direct into logic using the Avalon U5 sim.
Can the Fender Rumble 100 keep up with a drummer?

I have been a big fan of the Fender Rumble 100 for quite a few years. My main use for it has been a home practice amp. I had been curious how well it would work in a live band situation. Recently I was asked to play a gig with the Will Morton Band opening for Colt Ford in Feb. It gave me an opportunity to put this amp to the test. The Rumble 100 was definitely loud enough for a rehearsal. Every...

My favorite JAZZ BASS PICKUPS! Seymour Duncan SJB-3 Quarter Pound Pickups

I recently installed a set of Quarter Pound pickups in my 2021 Fender American Professional III Jazz Bass. I have been a huge fan of these pickups for a while. The output is insane compared to the stock V-mod2 pickups. In this clip I am using my Line 6 Helix with just the Zero Bass DI (sansamp) and the tube compressor, into Logic Pro. The drums are Toontrack EzDrummer from the Pop Punk Pack. Th...

MXPX Let's Ride Bass Cover

Lets ride by MXPX bass cover by @JacksonvilleJared 1988 Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray into my custom Ampeg Line 6 Helix patch. MXPX was one of the first pop punk I got into back in the mid 90's. Mike's bass playing influenced my playing a lot in my early years. I bought my first stingray bc I wanted to sound like MXPX. Being a trio I like how he would play the octave note in the rhythm passages...
Line 6 HX Stomp Cali Rectifire vs. Mesa Dual Rectifier Rackmount - Played with Kiesel Aries 6
Переглядів 3725 років тому
Hello UA-camrs, Recently I purchased the Line 6 HX Stomp. Since I own a Mesa Dual Rectifier, I wanted to hear the differences between the HX and the real deal. I mic'd a Carvin 412V-30 with a Shure SM-57. No cabinet IR's were used with the HX. Both the Mesa and HX's eq were set flat. The gain was at 7 on both units, No post production, just raw tracks straight into my interface, into Logic. I p...

My Ng-3 into the Darkglass AOU into Logic. This has become my go to setup for the band I am currently involved with. In this clip I am playing in passive mode on middle pickup. The AOU eq is set flat with a slight boost at 3khz.

I recently purchased this used Vanquish from Guitar Center. This one is equipped with the MM style humbucker and a jazz neck pickup. In the video I am playing through a Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra. The bass preamp is set flat & both pickups. The Darkglass EQ is flat with a slight boost at 3KHZ. Recorded directly into Logic, no eq or post production. BASS - PEDAL - INTERFACE.
Absolutely
I've owned this amp for awhile. Even with an electric drum kit, it just couldn't keep up in a gig setting. That's also with the other members of the band going ampless. Just couldn't hang, but I did really like the amp.
@@bordinco90 i still use mine regular for rehearsals and small gigs (with acoustic drums). It’s a 112 100w class d combo, it has its limitations for sure. But plenty of people make it work. Thanks for watching
I've just bought a used one of these to try in my apartment and compare it to my Rumble 40. The 100 effortlessly puts out a ton of volume, 9 o'clock on the master is loud and it barely breaks a sweat with my 5-string. The 40 has a clearer sound, the 100 is quite dark but it has a thicker bass response.
I'm listening to this through my Samsung galaxy buds 2 pro on my Samsung galaxy s21 ultra and can hear the bass no problem.
I have gigged with my rumble 100. 2 guitar players - AC30 and Bassman amp and a drummer. They don't crank it all the way though. We play rock/blues. I put the rumble on top of a milk crate. After 2 songs I was asked to turn down the volume 🤷♂️
Sick tone man! Would you kindly share line 6 settings and cab please? The a lot! Peace. Pier.
ATTENTION! Don't watch this video through your phone speaker.
Don't sleep on the Rumbles. I use a Rumble 40 for rehearsal and gigs. If the 40 can keep up with a loud drummer, then I'm sure the 100 would do fine. Thanks for posting the review.
The Rumble 40 I have can get farty and struggles with my 5-string even at apartment volume levels. I really doubt it can keep up with a drummer unless they're using an electric kit.
What are these songs and how can i find em?!?? Y'all are lit!!!!
@@Six3rdy you can find Will Morton’s music on all streaming platforms. Thanks for watching!
@@jacksonvillejared He's the musician with the long beard, right?

Sold my Line 6 studio bass amp and bought the rumble 100. So gad I did.
gad indeed
An actual useful review, sound mate

🔥🔥🔥🔥
It rattles my 2-car garage easily on 1/4 volume.
I've just got one to use in my apartment. If I put it above 9 o'clock on the master it rattles everything in my living room and probably in my neighbours too lol but because it's solid state it also sounds good at low volumes.
Excellent demonstration. Thanks.
Did you have to turn the volume all the way up to hear it
No.knob settings are what you see in the video clip.
Thanks for the video. The band sounded great as well. Good luck out there.
Thanks for watching.
Update: they were able to trace the noise to the bell housing of the transmission with a stethoscope. Evidently the torque converter studs were slightly hitting. They shaved the studs down minimally and the noise was gone. The noise has not been there at start up since getting it back. But we shall see if this was actually the fix or if they are just saying it’s fixed….
I had the same issue in my 2018 explorer with 3.5 bi turbo it was a cam phaser getting stuck they replace the whole timming kit and never heard that tick again maybe u got the same problem cuz mine was only in morning and in 5 to 10min would go away.
Thanks for the tip. Although I don’t think this is cam phaser related. I had a 14 F150 with the eco-boost and a 09 F150 with the 54 that both had cam phaser issues. This noise sounds different to me. But I will definitely keep that in mind when I bring it to Ford next week. The problem is they cannot seem to duplicate the noise while it it is in service. Most likely due to laziness on their part.
Wastegate rattle common problem on bmws doesnt sound this bad tho
That’s what you get for buying union made crap
It’s tin like, I’d be looking flywheel, belt line or heat shields
Cam phaser? I own a 21XLT. Had simular tick.
100% a heat shield
I’ve gotten under the truck while the noise was present and tried to track the noise. Also checked it while it’s cold for a loose heat shield. Maybe I’ll take another look. I’d think if it were a heat shield it would be a consistent noise. This goes completely away after 1-2mins and doesn’t do it again until the next cold morning.
@@jacksonvillejaredmaybe if it’s heat shield once it heats up and expands it stops though? That’s why it’s doing it cold
It’s a great amp, it hold up well and you didn’t have to crank it. I love mine , but sometimes I kinda have second thoughts and wish I have gotten the 200 for that extra little headroom.
Mine keeps up with the drummer in my 4 pc. band playing LIVE. I replaced the stock Chinese Eminence 12 with an Eminence S2012, and installed some batting inside the cab. The amp sounds AWESOME.
Someone needs to get the lead guitar player a deluxe reverb, with a vintage 30, and a tele, yikes. And a compression pedal Or let him play in a rock band? Confused sound. Impressive this little amp is keeping up, bet it is easy on the back for rehearsals!
Much easier to move than my 810 rig. As far as what The guitarist is playing, everyone has their opinion on what would be better. Thanks for for watching
Excellent, man. Diggin this!
YEAH! Diggin your group, baby! very very cool. New fans here
Diggin the jams , baby!!!! yeah from mtw in L.A. Bass/Guitar/vx Cheers!
Yes!! This is the review that i needed! Thank you! I, unfortunately, recently had to sell my rig. Ive been researching decent, but lower cost solutions. This Rumble kept popping up, but i figured there's no way it'll ride with a whole band. Thanks so much for this, and the multiple angles helped. Plus, my head was bobbing to the music. I'll definitely be checking you guys out
I like my 100 and my 40. I usually just take my 40 to jam when guitar players are bringing portable gear. In a bar I ABY stack my 40 on my 100 for kicks & it looks nice.
How do stack it bro?
Helped make my decision. Thanks very much and great playing!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching
Would the 200 be loud enough to be heard over the drums?
If the 100 can be heard. I’m sure the 200 can be heard easily. I don’t own one though.
My owner experience. It keeps up with a drummer. It can't keep up with 100W guitar amps. Thanks god it has a DI output so you can just enter the mixer. I gigged with it twice.
well yeah a 100w Tube guitar amp would literally be Stadium power, Lol.
hello brother, this caps is similar with seymour duncan hot stack stkj2 or fender noiseless?
The quarter pound isn’t like either in my opinion. They have more low end scooped mid with a fair amount of high end. They are versatile pickups. Definitely geared more towards the thick fat kinda tone. They are also not a dual/stacked coil pickup. They are hum cancelling when used together.
@@jacksonvillejared the tone this sjb3 is similar with this? tks ua-cam.com/video/4Ti_7d-ZDKk/v-deo.html
@@jacksonvillejaredI put those in a japanese-made Cortez j-bass copy from the 70s, it sounds seriously beefy for true single coils
@@jasondorsey7110 yeah the quarter pound is my go to for a thick bass tone in my j and p basses
Mine can!
Do you think it would handle if you were playing heavy metal instead? How much louder could it go (keeping good quality)?
I wouldn’t recommend it for playing loud metal or competing with guitar players that use half stacks. This is a 100w 1/12 combo it has limitations.
If you keep the bass knobs at 10:30 so it doesn't fart out and the gain at noonish you can up the volume good n it gets loud enough for a metal jam IMO. I don't go past 2:00 with the vintage switch on tho. I hate the overdrive.
GREAT video! I agree, there should be WAY more videos like this! So, is it safe to say that the Fender Rumble 200 could keep up with a drummer and would be loud enough to gig with outside of a rehearsal format? How about if you added an extension cab to the 200? Thoughts?
The rumble 200 definitely within reason of course. Add an extension cab and you’d be even better. I used a GK MB115-II before buying the rumble 100. It kept up fine. Recently I bought a Boss katana bass 210 combo. But still opt to bring the rumble 100 due to the weight and size. I do plan on doing a video for the katana, when we start rehearsing again.
Many thanks Mr Jared, I was lookinh at this amp specifically because I wanted smth that could also handle a low b and make it sound good at the same time, so with this is hand I can now with peace of mind get it along with said 5-string bass! Also as @danielranc8963 said I too enjoy the song so please do release some more, I eagerly await them! Again many thanks.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed the video. It will handle a low B. Don’t expect it to move mountains. I keep the EQ flat 99% of the time and it sounds great. Currently new music is being recorded. So when that music is released I will post a link. Thanks for watching!
This is the only thing that is currently music online for Will Morton. m.soundcloud.com/william-morton-713058271?.pfy-plays&fbclid=IwAR3QVlFFVCv16_QPo1qiXmZeE9x6VxiEDlykspKowExUnk4F0RMnmfSioqM
Great video! Would you recommend it for a concert for 80/100 people?
Without PA support, I would not recommend. Thanks for watching
Well done man. Thanks for this!
Have you done any shows with rumble 100.
I have played live with the amp, only with PA support. The rumble 100 would not be a great choice for live use without it. In smaller venues you could probably get away with it. It is a 100w 112 combo, so there are limitations. Thanks for watching! 👍
Glad to have you on board, bud
🥰 Elowel is for lovers! Can't wait for everyone to hear the new EP. Glad to be here!
Groovy! 😎🤙🏼
Thanks Steven!
Agree, the rumble 100 can hang in practice. I have gigged with mine so long as I have a PA. I put it on a stand that is angled up to me which helps too. Thanks for the vid.
Agreed. It’s a great lightweight amp. Sounds great going direct into a PA or recording. Can easily keep up in rehearsals within reason. Thanks for watching.
Did you extend with other speaker? or just amp speaker alone? sorry my bad english
The combo does not have a speaker out. This is just the combo.
your band is fantastic. Please do some more videos of your songs.
The artist I play for is currently working on a new ep. I will be doing some videos of the new songs when it’s released. Glad you liked it, thanks for watching.
Just brought my Fender Rumble 100 home and as a hobbyist who might just want to rock out with a drummer I think I made the right decision
The rumble 100 is a solid choice! Thanks for watching!
EVERYTHING would sound better if that room was sound treated. sounds are bouncing all over those walls, but only if that's a regular rehearsal room, otherwise if it has to convert to the wife's book club meeting room, then I get it. She probably wouldn't be too happy seeing bass traps in the corners of the room, and sound soaks all over the walls covering up her pretty clean paint. : )
You’re not wrong. However this is not my property. So the owner can do what they want with it. I love comments though. Thanks for the engagement, it only helps people see my video more. :)
@@jacksonvillejared I figured it wasnt your property. my son needs a bass amp so trying to figure out what to get. thinking the rumble 100 is the way to go from what ive seen and read it'll do for him. And integrity seems to be better than a lot of amps in this price range. I really base a lot on 'if it falls out of the back of the van' will it still work' mentality. I play guitar and all of my amps are tube and old and have no clue on whats changed in bass gear over the last few years. Bass player I jam with uses 70's SVT 8x10. good review though. Thanks.
