2021 starts with the collection of conversations called "One Word Stories". Welcome!
Why now? Well, during the turbulent last year full of challenges, I was grateful, above all, for exchanges with inspirational people from around the globe, who are artists, storytellers, diversity & inclusion professionals, change agents, educators and leaders, driven by passion. There were so many treasures there, that now I have invited many of them to share their stories with YOU as well, to build resilience, dive into creativity and connecting with each other and with yourself and to have a look at the cross-cultural world of our times from multiple perspectives, shared by my guests from around the globe. And what is really fantastic, all of my guests share ideas on how to enhance interaction and motivation to participate in the virtual meetings, gatherings and learning programs. Enjoy!
Start on January, 7th at 5:00 PM CET.

Storytelling to enhance understanding on decolonization - Michael Durecke & Joanna Sell dive deeper
The Benin Kingdom was one of the oldest and most developed states in the coastal part of West Africa. It grew out of the previous Edo Kingdom of Igodomigodo around the 11th century AD, and lasted until it was annexed by the British Empire in 1897. The colonizers took all the treasures, above all the so called Benin bronzes. Now, some of the artworks return to Benin, where a unique museum is being built by David Adjaye & Associates to host the collection and more African art.

What if we started to ask „miracle questio...

well done ladies
Thank you very much.
Thanks so much for having me what an adventure and an honour to share how I experienced the change of Saudi Arabia. Lots of Love. Florence Chabert d’Hieres
The pleasure is mine. Looking forward to our next meeting.
Wonderful insight conversation..
Wonderful to hear this episode! Joanna creates a “safe space” for Miki-sensei to speak from her heart about the power of storytelling, and about the Living Library project she has been cultivating at her university. The metaphors of kinsugi and wabisabi as they relate to the vulnerability on display in our stories is beautiful!
Thank you so much. Miki-sensei and you, dear Sue have contributed a lot to understanding how to work with stories to enhance understanding across cultures. Wabisabi, different Japanese words used for listening and ikigai are inspirational to understand more.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video regarding the benefits and positive energies of Living Libraries. The creative, helpful examples and stories certainly do unite communities! More please! 😊💕
Thank you for your cordial comment, Nancy. Your words mean a lot to me. I definitely saw the transformative way of living library and working with storytelling practices in that context a lot and am thrilled that Miki shares so many valuable insights in our conversation.
Connection ... yes! It's so so important! Thank you Joanna and Weirong!
Such a wonderful and valuable interview Joanna! I enjoyed your 'respectful silence' so much, Joanna! I think I've never experienced this before, for me it adds so much to the positive experience of listening. Your non-verbal 'small' communication gave Victoria all the space she wanted to use for sharing her inspiring thoughts. Yes, Victoria, I agree it's not a 'positive approach' it's much more and above all: a practical approach (in doing and in thinking and feeling). About the Solution Focused Approach we cannot learn enough, thank you both!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it a lot.
Very beautiful, insightful and soul nourishing episode, thank you Joanna for your amazing work with this vlog! Hugs A.
Thank you for your cordial words. I am thrilled to see that the content resonates with you.
That was wonderful! Genetic science can give us clues. I hope everyone living through this trauma of the Pandemic will watch and be mindful of what we hold within. We have our inherited DNA, but we are also truly the smiths of our experience and our fortune.
Yes, Sue, epigenetic is a real eye opener
VERY INTERESTING!
Thank you, Marco
Świetne, gratuluję serdecznie.

Excellent session on storytelling with Thiagi
THE BIRD IS THE WORD. .. .. . . . .
Love the way you host the interview Joanna
Thank you vor these cordial words. It was my pleasure to host such an openminded and inspiring guest.
Thank you very much for your cordial words. I really enjoyed hosting Thiagi and the secret of this atmosphere was authentic being here and now - on both sides.
Wonderful. And Beautiful. But what’s the difference between a cultural practitioner and an artist? Is there any?
I gutes, that is a question every single cultural practitioner and artist need to answer o their own. Personally, I consider myself both. What about you?
Great talk. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing. Good one..
Awesome. Thank you so much for the share.
If only more people would think and feel like her, truly a real cosmopolitan , The world would be a better place. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing conversation , thank you for your inspiration and ideas in these difficult times. That’s the real challenge , if anything good comes out of this, it’s a new perspective , a new and hopefully better story for mankind and nature . Already ordered the book, very much looking forward to exciting 365 days in 2021.
Great Irene! I am sure you will love the book. Happy reading and many thanks for your uplifting comment.
Loved how linguistics tell stories as the word courage in English, French, Arabic. Coeur... Thanks Noureddine and Joanna for this brave conversation.
It was a real dive into storytelling. And I cross my fingers that Noureddine can proceed with his projects soon.
