So informative and great delivery! Thank you so very much
Theres a very good reason the acoustic guitar have that particular shape, which is based on centuries of perfectioning the wuality of sound and projection of the instrument. And just like you, I also dont care. Great build, beautiful, original instrument and it sounds perfectly fine from what i can hear here. Thanks a lot for sharing, way to go!
Hi. I am an Absolute Beginner Glass Fuser guy! , from the UK. Your video just answered SO MANY questions I.have! Thankyou! 👍🔥❤
Will your kits fire in a microwave kiln? Thank you.❤
Y'all are amazing and inspiring! 61 year old beginner guitar player and I love you all playing together! Would love to be able to do this with others someday! ❤️ What are the songs you're playing, if I may ask? Beautiful chord progressions I can't seem to figure out... Anyway thank you! I aspire to buy one of your boxwood guitars! 👍 Amazing!
Great presentation. Nice to see you at the Crafts Center! 😊
Isn't the top supposed to be from a conifer tree, like spruce or cedar? Edit: redwood, not ROSEWOOD. Sorry! 😊
The best is to heard it playing by an expert to play it
Brainwashed...
Thank you!!!!!
It looks like this video is about 3 years old, but I see comments here from just a few weeks ago, and this is April 24, 2024. Hopefully whoever posted this will still get the comments. This was very interesting to watch, thank you for the video. I recently got into Cigar Box Guitars (CBG) and have been watching some build videos along with the lesson videos, and this reminded me of that. I'm going to look at the other videos from this channel, hopefully there was some type of follow-up after the guitar settled in.
Is all that side bracing necessary? I haven't done much work with steel strings on acoustic instruments, only some canjos and cookie tin banjos, where I had the neck running through the body, and only a few, fairly slack strings. High tension seems to kill off the sustain with such bodies.
But WHY!? What's the point? Is it because you can't steam-bend sides etc?
I think that's the main advantage -- steam bending is a hassle that a lot of people don't want to deal with. But you can still make a decent acoustic guitar with straight sides.
Because it works for him
If there was ever a guitar that needed a forearm bevel... That would also be so incredibly easy to do...
Yes, I see many people making these, but not taking the few extra minutes to design them for maximum ergonomics. I think some scraps of plywood could be duck taped together, to get the idea dimensions/angles. Maybe having the neck off center, towards the bass strings would be nice. All those things should be figured out ahead of time.
Fancy cigar box guitar.
Nice. I would be much more impressed if you made the neck from scratch, radius the fret board, measure, locate and install the frets, design and scarf the headstock, locate and drill the tuner holes, make the bridge and make all the adjustments so it actually works. This is a little like building a kit.
Yeah it is disappointing
These are truly amazing boxes! I also play cajon and acoustic guitar and teach. this video / you guys are so cool !
Sounds incredible. Box joints would look great on the corners.
If this is the University of California at San Diego all I have to say is "It isn't a square, It's a rectangle for f**ks sake".
👏👏👏👍👍❤️
thank you . neat stuff
Sounds good. Be interested to hear it as it settles down. The wood colours makes up for it being square nessus
What kind of glue?
I’m always up for trying to make new things. Been thinking of making a guitar but the curves were slowing me down. This looks right up my alley! Do you have any plans on making this beauty?
Cool
Sounds good, but looks ugly.
sp///alsp...looks bad but feels good? Reminds me of an old joke.
Great presentation - Thank you for taking the time to create it.

Wonderful presentation! Very clear and informative. Thanks!
Excellent information! Thank you!
Great!!!!!!
C’mon, this isn’t a short. Who was the genius that didn’t know how to film a 30 minute freaking film in landscape mode? This is unwatchable. Bummer.
Great video, could you do a video on your kiln doing a fire polish?
Very cooool love what ya doin 😊
Thanks for your information. It explained some of my problems.
Thank you, can’t wait to see your next video.
Hooray, it is coming together and we can see it in reality VERY SOON! Cannot wait to take classes again in the ceramic space. Thank you Annika for your amazing energy, organizational skills and creativity in making this space a reality!
Looking forward to taking a class in the beautiful new craft center. Let those creative juices flow. Arline Paa
