My Gardening Journey
Приєднався 17 лют 2023
Thanks for checking out My Gardening Journey.
I wanted to start this channel to vlog my progress in gardening since I loss my son youngest Haiden in 2021 to suicide.
I’ve always loved gardening but I wanted to create a memorial garden for my son. I wanted to share my journey because it’s therapeutic for me.
I hope to teach others what is helping me but at the same time learning how to navigate life after the loss of a child and finding hope again through gardening.
Life is a journey and it will be unique for everyone. I hope you will follow along with my journey.

Planting Spring Bulbs Jan 2025 🌷
Hi guys, Happy New Year! It's been a while since I had a chance to record and publish my videos of me working in the garden. Here's an update of the bulbs I've purchased from dutchbulbs.com and also bulbs I purchased from Costco as well. The tulips from Costco was refrigerated for 11 weeks but the ones from dutchbulbs.com was shipped later to me than what was originally estimated so they were only in the fridge for ~3 -4 weeks. I also had 1/3 of my order was cancelled by them because of unavailability due to climates in the Netherlands.
I can't wait for these bulbs to make their appearance in just another month or two for the early ones.

Planting Ranunculus & Cool Weather Crops Fall 2024
Переглядів 81Місяць тому
I know I haven't uploaded any videos in a couple of months but I've been busy with cleaning up all the garden beds, weeding, etc. which I didn't get to film. This past weekend, I wanted to get some ranunculus, anemones, and cool weather vegetables in the ground while it's still warm. In Georgia, our zip code got upgraded from 8A to now 8B. I had a huge failure with trying to presprout my ranunc...
Time to Cleanup Haiden's Garden 👩🏻🌾🥀
Переглядів 984 місяці тому
I have been trying to cleanup Haiden's garden for the last 3 weeks. I started on this since August 18th and finished September 2 on Labor day. We've been in a drought for the last fews weeks and the garden bed shows it. There's so many overgrown, dead or dying plants that I had to cut back and remove and I only had the weekends to work in the garden. It's also very exhausting to work outside in...
Installing a Vertical Drainage for less than $35 💦🕳️
Переглядів 2485 місяців тому
Hey you guys, so I originally recorded this video on May 19th after we've been getting a lot of rain here in GA. My husband sent me a link to view this video from Apple Drains. I watched Chuck's video and was excited to give it a try in my son's memorial garden, the area near the drive way and the area near the basement patio. I will provide the link to Chuck's video at the end of my descriptio...
End of June 2024 Garden Tour and Update on steel edging for front side garden 🌺☀️
Переглядів 9696 місяців тому
I didn't get to do a May garden tour. I was busy with installing a vertical draining solution to some of the wet areas. Then I worked on edging the front side garden when we haven't received any rain. That makes digging really difficult. I finally finished edging with the metal edging and was able to get a quick tour of all the garden beds with the mess and all. I hope you all are staying cool ...
Mothers Day Planting (Gardenia & Butterfly Bush) 2024 & Mini Tour 🫛🪴🌼
Переглядів 1827 місяців тому
I wanted to do some gardening on Mother's Day this year. The weather was beautiful and I wanted to be outside. I had received a gardenia from my friend Nadine for Haiden's Heavenly 15th birthday on May 5th and needed to get it out of its container & into the ground. While I was weeding the garden bed, Nadine surprised me with a Butterfly Bush on Mother's Day. I'm quickly running out of room in ...
April Shower Garden Tour 2024 with Many Flowers Blooming 🌸💐☔️
Переглядів 2,4 тис.8 місяців тому
I originally recorded the plantings of the annuals and perennials I purchased from Growers Outlet but my phone overheated 😫. So, I decided to record this tour in the rain while it was cloudy outside. I missed out on recording while the Spanish Bluebells were still in bloom but we now have the roses in bloom and they are so beautiful. I picked a few flowers from Haiden's garden and put together ...
Plant Haul at Grower's Outlet, Annuals and Perennials for Spring, Summer and Fall Interest 🌿🌺🌳
Переглядів 2858 місяців тому
I went to my local garden center owned by a small family business. Grower's Outlet is located in Loganville, GA. My plans were to only pick up annuals to spruce up the front side garden and Haiden's garden beds but when I got to the garden center, my plans went out the window. There were so many beautiful plants, I just couldn't help myself. My phone overheated so I couldn't record the rest of ...
Mid March 2024 Flowers in Bloom Garden Update
Переглядів 6 тис.9 місяців тому
Most of the daffodils are already spent along with some of the tulips. We've had some warm weeks and then a lot of rain here in GA that caused my bulbs to bloom so early and faded away sooner too. Things are starting to look a little more filled in than the February garden update. The snowflakes are all in bloom now. I hope you all are enjoying your garden if you have one and hope you can use m...
Haiden's Garden Update Feb 2024 👩🌾 🫶 🌹 ❤️🩹
Переглядів 46510 місяців тому
It's been a while since I came back to clean up my son's garden bed and the rest of the beds at my mom's house since we moved back in Oct 2023. I've spent many hours pulling weeds and adding more garden soil and mulch as well. We've had heavy down pours that caused some of the the soil and mulch to wash away. I purchased some more plants to add to his garden bed. These includes hellebores Ice N...
Sept 2023 Garden Update Tour (Last One for now of Haiden's Garden)
Переглядів 275Рік тому
Hey you guys, so we are moving next week. Things have been a little hectic. We're moving in to a rental for now until we find our forever home. I'm really sad that I won't be here on a daily basis to look after & care for Haiden's memorial garden which has helped me through so many dark & gloomy days. My little sanctuary which has been therapeutic for me. I've been MIA for a couple of months bu...
July 2023 Garden Update
Переглядів 799Рік тому
My garden beds were getting overgrown while we were out of town for 2 weeks. We drove from GA to CA but stopped at other states along the way to see family. I had to replace one of my drip irrigation lines b/c some rodent(s) chewed threw one of the lines. I missed recording a June update but I was busy doing a lot of garden clean up and edging around the garden beds. I hope everyone is having a...
Adding more plants in the garden: Lavender Standard, Delphinium, Dragon Prince, Hibiscus & Vincas
Переглядів 53Рік тому
I found a Lavender standard at Costco but I'm not sure it will survive outside. I wanted to give it a try. I saw the delphinium at The Home Depot & decided to snag one up. The Dragon Prince cryptomeria was bought last year & it wasn't looking healthy anymore in its container so I needed to get it in the ground. I bought the hibiscus since I heard they don't mind wet feet and I have a low area i...
N Pole Arborvitae, Day Lilies, Annuals
Переглядів 189Рік тому
I bought a North Pole Arborvitae to replace a dead red twig dogwood I had planted last year. I also picked up some day lilies to fill in some open spaces in the front yard garden bed in front of the basement. There are some annuals that I needed to put in the ground in the front side garden. This was filmed back in mid-May but I'm just now getting around to editing ;) lol.
Installing a Hoselink and adding drip emitters.
Переглядів 46Рік тому
I bought another Hoselink and installed it in the backyard for easier watering. I also added additional drip lines to the raised bed and in the ground. A lot of of my main 1/2" water supply line for the irrigation was chewed through by critters so I had to bury those lines near the fence. I made a shopping trip to Grower's Outlet and snagged some annuals, perennials and a North Pole arborvitae....

Awesome video,watching here from Canada!❤
Thank you ❤️
Thank you for posting. Lookig to make a few in my bsckyard
You’re welcome! I hope it will work out well for you too. Please keep me posted.
Wow! Your son's garden has really filled in. All the gardens look great! That's a lot of work. Beautiful. I knew it was clematis the minute you mentioned not being able to remember the name because for some reason I struggle to remember it's name too. And I pronounce it the other way-lol.
Thank you, yes Haiden’s garden is looking kinda wild right now with all the coreopsis that I started from seeds. I’m so bad with memories these days 😂. I think my ajugas developed some kind of disease bc a lot of them has died off. It’s hot over here in GA, stay cool wherever you are.
Beautiful looking garden, its a pollinators dream.
Thank you, yes definitely lots of pollinators 😉
Wow! Haiden''s sgarden is so full! Looks beautiful.
Yes it’s pretty full, thank you ❤️
Nice colorful April garden!
Thank you! Cheers!
You have created a beautiful garden in honor of your son. I am a new subscriber and can't wait to see the garden in full bloom in a future video. They say that gardening is therapy and it looks like this definitely applies to you.
Thank you Julie, yes it’s definitely therapeutic & a journey in itself. It helps with my grief when I start feeling down & I just feel closer to my son when I’m out there. A lot of flowers are in bloom in my April garden tour but it’s a long one. I should have split it into 2 separate videos 🤦♀️. Have a great week!
Oh my gosh! What a green thumb you must have. all your gardens look so beautiful! Haden's garden has just exploded in a few years. That ajuga! Looks like the Olivia Rose is trying to climb the tuteur. Maybe just helping it find the fence will do the trick. Can't tell if the fence if close enough to ply those canes over. If not, maybe another tuteur between the rose and fence. Either way, it's stunning!
Thank you, I didn’t always have a green thumb. A lot of dead plants & learning along the way & I’m still learning 😄. Yes that ajuga is loving their location. The Olivia rose is leaning about 3 feet away from the fence. I don’t recall planting it that way but I think the heavy rains has shifted the rootball over the last couple of years & I didn’t realize it until now. I’m going to see if I can shift it just a little bit after it finishes blooming or maybe wait until fall to dig it up & realign it 🤷♀️
Beautiful garden in honor of your Son. ❤ My Brother and his wife created a garden in honor of their Son that passed away. His favorite colors are orange and blue which is the color of his flowers and accessories in the garden. The spirit of a person is very much alive although all of our bodies will pass away. God bless you and thank you for sharing.
I’m so sorry to hear about your brother & his wife. Sending them prayers. The loss of a child is one of the most difficult struggles any parents can go through. It’s so out of order with life and how you picture it. I’m glad to hear that they too created a garden to honor their son. It has been very therapeutic for me. I can feel my son’s love in his garden when all the birds are chirping, the butterflies are dancing, the bees are buzzing and a bonus when the Cardinal flies in to visit ❤️
مسيرة موفقة🎍🎍🎍💔💔💔💔💔⚘️⚘️⚘️☕️☕️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love it, beautiful garden! And a lot of realy smart ideas, thank you for inspiring me.
Thanks so much
My heart breaks for you. These videos are a loving honor to your son.
Gaura.
Thank you my mind was blanked out at the time. Gaillardia kept popping up in my mind instead of gaura which of one of my favorite wispy plants 🪴.
Very beautiful 😍
Thank you 😊
What a beautiful garden! 🌼
Thank you! 😊 can’t wait for more perennials to wake up 🪴🌹
New subscriber. Beautiful garden in honor of your son. ❤😊

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful garden that you have put together to honor your son. Sad to hear that he had passed away. You’ve made a beautiful sanctuary. Hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy and Debbie.

Very pretty garden
Thank you ❤️
I have some dahlia transplants that o need to plant! Thanks for sharing!
You still have time, surprisingly it’s been on the cooler side for us still so far this spring. Which I’m ok bc I know that hot & humid climate won’t be too far behind.
May he rest in peace. You have my condolences. I will be watching your journey.
Thank you for the tour. I’m in zone 7a/b in Washington state, and it’s amazing to see all the differences in our gardens, even though our zone numbers are so close together!
Yes it’s also amazing that even within your own zone that you have micro climates as well. Thank you for watching, hugs. 🫂
Was Hayden your son? I'm sorry for your loss beautiful garden 🥰
Yes, Haiden is my son, he was 11 & 1/2 years old.
Taman yang indah
Looking beautiful 🌻
Loved the video! New subbie! Hope you can join me too😊
Just saw your channel, I recently started my tomatoes and peppers seeds a couple weeks ago so I’m going to get them hardened off soon too. Subbed as well. Thank you!
What a sweet, lovely way to honor your precious son. I will be watching as you continue with this lovely garden.
Spring bulbs are looking so beautiful!
Thank you ❤️
Beautiful garden! Spring is always an exciting time 🎉
Everything looks lovely!
Thank you ❤️
It's nice to see the spring comming and how fresh everything looks after the rain. Satisfying!
Looking beautiful 🌺. Now I know what snowflakes are. I have them in my yard.
Is it longfield nursery where you get your plants? To buy at a cheaper price as you mentioned in the end?
There’s a local grower here in GA that sells direct to the public. They’re located in Loganville. They’re only open during the spring through fall. They’re called Grower’s Outlet and they have great plants at almost half the price of specialty garden centers.
@@mygardeningjourney thanks so much for your reply. Have a blessed day :)
❤
Thank you so much for sharing. Haiden’s garden is beautiful. I look forward to seeing his garden transform. Be blessed and you have my deepest condolences.
Thank you, I will upload when I have a chance to record and edit to show the updates as more plants and flowers are waking up. 🫂
Cannot wait to see how beautiful Haiden's garden will look like as you continue working on it!
Thank you, I will continue to work on his garden and will share it when I have a chance to record and edit it. It is a place where I can try to find some kind of healing. Maybe it will help others in the process. 🫂
What a beautiful way to honor him. Keep talking to him he is with you.
my heart hurt for you
