THE POWER OF A.I. 🤯🎥 | Upgrade your old HD footage!
It's a good one. I have it and the G3 which has the same sensor and slightly older processor and it is a remarkable camera with its EVF and fully articulated screen. The GF6 gives very similar pictures, maybe a bit better at high ISO with the newer processor though it goes fully 2 stops faster at 25,600 while the G3 stops at 6400. I suspect this has to do with marketing as it's of no real use. Poor man's GM1 and actually better in some ways!
I just bought both 😅
Gracias.
Is this a good camera for recording sports mixtapes, and if so do you recommend any lenses?
My God lens is the ZD 150mm f/2... adapted on MFT. Were i only allowed one lens for my cameras (and all my glass is good) this would be the one i'd keep. Try one if you can find one.
I purchased a Novoflex EF/MFT adapter for my manual focus lenses. Built lika a tank and works great.
hi, thank u for ur video! do u recommend other lenses? I only have the 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 and I'd like some brighter and with which I can play with focus for cinematic look
I’m pretty sure the hdmi out to a atomos can be 10 bit 4:2:2
I got a 40D and just love the buttons on it even though the image quality isnt the best anymore why did they change the buttons on this line the 40D was best
I'm a hobby photographer and usually use bridge cameras for Simplicity or sometimes compact cameras for convenience but a few months ago I decided to invest in DSLR cameras for versitiliy because when using a bridge camera you can select the iso settings you have very little control over the appature and shutter speed as those are controlled to some extent the scene mode that you select in the build in menus and whatever the camera decides so the picture doesn't always come out the way that you want it to I started off by getting an older but very affordable canon 1000D that was very close weight wise that I am used to with bridge cameras then a few weeks later by pure luck came across a cheap canon 7D mark II that I just had to snap up because they are an as absolutely great camera that are extremely well Built even if they are quite a bit Heavier than the standard canon cameras I consider the trade off to be worth it the strange thing with me is I like different kinds of cameras but the two that I absolutely cannot stand are phone cameras and those tiny dinky action cameras I don't consider either type To be a proper camera I suppose it's because I am old school and got interested n photography back in the early 80s when film Cameras ruled and only started to take it back up after a 22 year break in the early 2000s because I came to a point where film was dissapering and affordable digital cameras were not quite up to snuff unless you dropped a ton of money on a high end professional camera that at that time had half decent sensors
preamps?
Thank you very much for the video! I have been using this camera in ethnography film project and totally love the colours. I have been meaning to upgrade because I would like to use higher ISO and have a bit of stabilisation (not digital) but couldn’t really find an option that would have such nice colours. (For example, Sony a7 colours are just too acid for me, and Canon c100 or c300 are big and hard to carry around). I would really appreciate if you could recommend me an upgrade! Thank you so much again!
Hi, thanks for your comment. Budget plays a part with this question. Money no issue then go for Sony A7s III - this a spectacular camera for low light video shooting and body stabilisation and has amazing AF. £1000 and below then maybe look at the S5 original - has really good low light capabilities and body stabilisation plus, in my opinion, amazing colour science. Sub £500 perhaps look at the GH5 in the secnid hand market - Has decent low light paired with fast lenses, incredible body stabilisation (paired with optical stabilised lenses you can gimbal like shots) and lovely colours. Hope this helps.
Thank you sooo much for your detailed reply! I have been actually thinking about sticking to canon because of the colours and almost decided to get Canon 5d mkiv and then get an IBIS lens. Have you ever tried shooting with it? Thanks again!
Sorry, I forgot to say that my budget is around £2000 for a camera+lens. I also own ronin but frankly prefer holding the camera in my hands and can’t get used to the feeling of using ronin :(
hi what do you think of Lumix DMC TZ20 as a basic camera for my 14yo daughter to use instead of an iphone. thanks
Yeah go for it!
I love your accent bro! Do you recommend upgrading from a Nikon d200 to a 70d
Haha Thanks!! The 70D is a better camera, but budget and your main use for the camera may suggest a different camera.
I appreciate your coffee montage
Thanks!
Thanks. FYI I had both the P-Leica 12-60 2.8-4 lens and the Lumix 12-60 3.5-5.6. I tested both and to my surprise the Lumix was slightly sharper. It is also lighter. So I sold the Pan-Leica version. I also have the 35-100 2.8 which is great. Another lens I llike a lot is the Olympus 12-40 2.8 - it is incredibly sharp
Thanks for sharing
How is the Panasonic 16-35 2.8 not on you list
12-35 f2.8 is a lens I don’t own…yet 😉
@ yes 12-35 it’s a nice lens if you’re interested I will sell it
Hello Any views in 20mm pancake lens. Seems to have mixed reviews regarding slow autofocus however drawn to the size and focal length.... All options welcome.
I’ve never owned this lens as I have the 17mm f1.8. I’ve heard good things about it though.
Thanks! You helped me decide get this camera over the m10. - Just bought one for £349 with a 50mm prime lens. Looking forward to using it.
Glad I could help!
I'm actually downgrading from Gx9 to G80 because I can't stand that Field Sequential viewfinder on the GX9/GX80
I have the 12-60 and the 45-200. Covers every focal length I need. Just, not very fast?
Yes I think the Lumix 45-200 4=5.6 is an underrated lens! (now discontinued I think)
Any idea how to simply attach powerbank on dummy battery , trully happy for never run out but difficul where to place while record video
Never tried and no longer have the camera - sorry!
Ur kid is cute
Thanks! He's four now, still cute though
@@madsciencefilms why u stopped posting mangas stuff :(
I have a Leica 35-100 2.8 and it's really amazing. I have seen any videos on it. Or my other lens too. The Leica 12-35 f2.8 ver3
amazing! i have a collab for ashortfilm that im making and need an animation scenes, would you like to work it?
still using my gh4 camera till today!!!
The Panasonic 12-35 V2 is a classic "all rounder" if I'm in a pinch. Oly 40-150mm f2.8 for sports. I'm growing in my set of meike cine t2 1 lenses for portraits and filmmaking (10mm, 16mm, 35mm, and 50mm). The meike offer the compactness and premium feel with beautiful image quality.
wish this would come to BLU RAY at some point
Yeah its insane that it's not out on Blu yet
@@madsciencefilms agree its a bummer, "the future is ours"
All worthy lenses…my fav 5 are: -Oly 40-150 f2.8 (my most used) - Oly 12-40 f2.8 (close second) - Oly 12-100 f4. Travel master - Pan/Lecia 8-18 f2.8-4. It’s wide and more importantly, created really pleasing, magical, images. - Oly 75mm f1.8. Don’t use it much, but when I do WOW. All it them, including ones not listed, quality and fun. Cheers 😊
PS just added the 150-600 last week. A unique and incredible lens. Almost completely upgraded from its Sigma roots (new focus motors, elements, coatings, weather sealing, synch IS, smoother action) extremely fun to use.
Your most used lens is tele? You film a lot of far away stuff I guess?
@ main uses are mostly stills of action: sports, animals or dance (inside). Also videos of dance (inside). 8-18 / 12-40 for inside video or in dance studio stills. 40-150 for sports, wildlife (w 1.4 TC) and dance pics in Auditorium … flattering compression and fast enough at 2.8 (I’ll use the 75 f1.8 in the aud when I’m moving).
6275 Manuel Mount
Has the infamous autofocus (central point) bug been resolved now in 2024 with firmware updates? I got the 70D back in 2015 and I LOVED the images coming out of it except it couldn't focus properly when using OVF, central point and lenses faster than 2.8. It was just hopeless. Sent first copy to Canon for calibration. Didn't work. Returned it to the store and got another copy. Same thing. I ended up returning that one as well and never looked back. But I still do miss those files. I have an R7 but the files are not quite the same for whatever reason.
My Key lenses on micro 43 are the 12 100 olympus pro which is great, paires with the 7 14mm pro for wide angle, for portraits the 25 is good but the 45mm f1.8 is really sharp.
Great set of lenses!
I am trying to use the HDMI out for my streams, but whenever there is fast movement, and get this kid of interlaced lines. Anyway to fix it? Thanks
Sounds like combing. I’ve not done a lot of streaming with the GH2; check the video setting is not 1080i. You want 1080p or 720p
how you do it with the aperture is in 0.0
Not sure what you mean?? The F stop value is 0? It could be because it’s a manual lens..
Still using mine which i bought 2014. With good glass it takes amazing shots, even with the kit lens it came with. Ive taken it all around the world and have had it in the bush in Africa for over a year being smashed and thrown around etc... I had it professionally cleaned in Australia a couple of years ago, because of a salty day at the beach.... and it works great and i love it.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
I had a g6 and loved it. Sadly it was stolen. Now a g9mki. Also gx9 for small carry. But this is nastolgic.
I won't dis Canon 7D Am in Kigali Rwanda Africa please Ucan send tom for Good price tell me please?
Try eBay
@madsciencefilms What is the tripod that the GF7 is mounted on at 1:26?
It’s a viltrox travel tripod. Video about it can be found in our back catalog of tech reviews
I think I’ve enjoyed every micro 4/3 camera I’ve tried over the years! In actual fact I think most ‘serious’ digital cameras post 2012 can still stand up pretty well today
Wisoky Terrace
??
The camera is not an old camera, although manufacturers will have you beleive otherwise so that you are anticipating the arrival of a new model the day after buying yours. It is a perfectly good and capable camera in 2024. The hype surrounding the Fujifilm cameras does not inspire me to buy one....in fact, the reverse.
Yeah I see your point. There are a lot of ‘old’ cameras that are more than capable for pro work and personal projects.
Just got one from a Friend, which my wife shoots with, it’s a great backup to my 80D, when we go out the 70D acts as video and landscape body, the 80D setup for Birds….✔️
A great backup too! Thanks for your comment.
Use your phone it will be better. Your sample shots......LOL..........you`re joking right.
Thanks for your comment 😂
Imagine having the GH1 in 2009 with the hacked firmware, must been mind blowing to be honest, there are a few channels that I remember which utilised it, had wild production quality. Back then, such high production quality was, lets just say you could count on ONE hand the amount of channels that did that.
Yeah crazy. GH1 and GH2 were ahead of their time with video and those hacks elevated them to legendary status! 😀
Do you have any experience with the old AF100?
No I don’t I’m afraid.
@@madsciencefilms I think it was called the AF101 in Europe, but it is basically the Panasonic Micro 4/3 version of a C100. It is only 1080p and 8 bit 4.2.0 internally on SD cards (on a crappy AVCHD codec), but it has HDMI and SDI output along with dual XLR's and built in ND filters. You can find them very cheap used.
The GF6 seems like a mini GH2. The 50 interlaced 1080 is the same as 25 progressive 1080. This is due to the AVCHD codec at the time. For a small camera, I use the GX800/GX850/GX880/GF9/GF10, the smallest real DSLM that shoots 4k but with some manual shooting caveats for video (like the GF7). It's rather cheap and I think you'd really enjoy it, but it'll cost more than the GF6. You're right about the start-up time- faster than the GH6, G9ii, S5ii, S5iix, GH7.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah I’m happy with the GF6 as I don’t need 4K for the type of use I’ll be getting out of that camera. Thanks again.
1 hour 50 minutes of torture tutorial, their tool of choice 'talking!' 😮
😂
My friend, I was skeptical about starting this GH2 quest: I already had a plethora of m4/3 cameras (GF1, AF100, G70 and a YI M1) with 8 lenses, a Sony A65 (which has a wonderful video quality),a perfectly working HVX200 with a lot of P2 cards and a Sony FX7 (I know that record on tape, but was my 1st FHD camera and if you don't mind the hassle of exporting the video via FireWire, is still a very good camera). So as you can see, I was already set for life, or until the day that FHD, will go out of fashion. I saw a lot of your videos about the GH2 and the hacking part, mostly out of curiosity, until a year ago I found one at a yard sale: It was only the body with a totally dead battery inside and a body cap, but I had my G70 with me, so I was able to test it because the battery is the same and i had a lens mounted on the camera. Surprisingly, the camera was working and it was dirt cheap, cuz it was €100 but I bartered it for €80. A real rarity since here in Italy the only digital cameras you usually find at yard sales, are old Film cameras, some Sony A7 and Canon DSRL. Given the fact that I'm a Professional Gunsmith by trade, so I get my paycheck, tinkering with stuff all day, I was thrilled to take it home and hack it. Now I have a full rig like yours, plus a field monitor for Focus Peaking and zebras, and is my main camera for shooting studio content. For action and outside content, you really can't beat my AF100. Very soon the HVX200 will have to go, since my Girlfriend is starting to nag about all the video stuff I have and I almost don't use the HVX anymore. Thanks a lot for all yours inspiring videos, and lucky me I can speak English, because here in Italy almost no one care about this stuff.
Great comment! Thank you.
Pretty amazing how good 720p looks out of this camera, even shot at 60fps. I always remember trying a Canon 5D MKIII and was baffled by the terrible 1080p footage, when my GH2 even in 720 was MUCH better with no aliasing artifacts at all. I think lack of aliasing is one of the key aspects that make a video camera 'good' or not.
Agreed! Thanks for your comment.
bro! you're the besttt! i haven't found any solution and this was exactly i was looking for. thank you so much
Glad I could help!
