    Has the definition of madness changed? It doesn't seem that way, it's the societal treatment of madness that has changed, ie; the remedies.

    Acid Communism sounds a little like Evolution Revolution where you have Capitalism evolve out of itself and becomes something new. It requires people to act like viruses inside the system while also trying to change the environment outside it to force Capitalism to change. What hat new change is is uncertain and we much rather stay with the stuffing that we know than deal with something we can even see. You can't see yourself evolve, only the changes it leaves behind as evidence that it happened. In my eyes, evolution is the only way to "beat" capitalism with the least amount of casualties. Kinda makes you think if there's more to banning evolution theory in schools than just religion, huh?

    Definitely one of the most important thinkers. Mark Fisher has been putting into words what I felt since many years - that we have stumbled into the 21st century backwards. However, Capitalist Realism is a crummy title for a book. It will take many people quite some time to realise he is actualing crticising what he seems to praise at first glance. Once you get it, the concept is fine. Bad title, though, worse than Acid Communism, which is weird enough to tickle your imagination.

    As an autistic person who remembers being 15, I can tell you now that this is nowhere near the whole story. What it seems like to me is the average typical mind explaining the exact thing divergent minds struggle with as the only way society and culture work......... When I can very readily tell you that whatever this phenomenon is that he describes, it's not everyone's. The Heidegger v Hegel debate ... for an autistic person, Hegelian dialectics is all that exist. I am not privileged to the automatic social network typical people seem to have connection to.

      By this same logic, reproduction and genetics itself is the simulation.... the cliché of learning to walk, as the end of excitement... because you finished the learning part. Failing to realize that learning to walk, the process, is the key that unlocks infinity. But people only walk to work, at work, or for work. That's the simulation.

      The fact that you keep using the word "male" to describe identity is wired since the term "male" is a biological distinction. If history proves anything, it's that labeling people into identity groups based on physical attributes ends badly every time. The idea that there is only one male identity is the f-ed up concept that fractures people's psyche. It's honestly a very strange choice of example for this video, if you think about its implications to the information you are sharing. It's almost as if you did it on purpose. Lol, except I can see your actual agenda. And that's not at all cute. Even if it didn't overtly reach into a prescient topic of right-wing wedge driving, it would still be a bad example. Not every man needs to be the same. That is just silly.

    Every time I try to dig into postmodernism more deeply, I always get stopped on page one and remember... "How can different people with their own individual perspectives and internal lives ever communicate with one another if meta-narratives are not being used in culture to create the language they use to denounce modernism with?" And then I feel better about it being a plot to destroy the human experiment.

      Identity construction @ 11:50 What is the mind of a newborn doing? ... How old were you when you remember your first self aware self conscious though? ... What happened between your having been born and your zenith as a self? ... ... ... So, the DNA doing its chemistry thing while you are biologizing years away, that's not objective? Show me...

    • @Robert_McGarry_Poems
      @Robert_McGarry_Poems Місяць тому

      No matter how aware a person is, how much knowledge and genius they possess as an adult self, they had to be immersed into a pre-existing social order upon birth. The context for what they can know is contained by those who raise this child. Plus, the constraints of biology give us a fairly good objective beginning point to start having conversations from. Even if the expression of genes is going to be different for everyone, the foundation is the same. A narrative, one might even dare to say meta in nature... is emerging into the culture without ever even asking for it. Oh, and then there is epi genetics, too. We are more similar than the amount of difference in all possible expressions of this machinery or process. That similarity is the only objective meta narrative necessary to realize that talking at cross purposes does nothing for anyone or any system or institution.

    • @Robert_McGarry_Poems
      @Robert_McGarry_Poems Місяць тому

      Deconstructing the child mind into a social mind of your own, as a full-fledged self, must come from a place that begins within the child mind in the first place. Because what else is in there? So, each person has to come to the table of language by associating experiences with agreed upon definitions through best practices and common experience... oh my, did I just define meta... in the very act of becoming an individual self... which then goes on to denounce the very process that gave rise to this ability to denounce in the first place...... postmodern. They criticize nihilism while being the true nihilists.

    I’m re reading mark fisher and watching his lectures. Such a brilliant mind and animated and authentic unique thinker. Such a sad loss but it’s great his ideas are being kept alive they are more relevant now than ever. One of the problems we have today is that the idea of a utopia has been thoroughly discredited so it has also had an impact on political hope which affects us in the present so we can only look to the past and revive tired old ideas or splinter into a thousand pieces through ever fracturing identity politics. We need to bring back the idea of utopia but as David graeber (another great thinker) says we need many different utopias not just one on what our ideal society might look like. RIP those great minds hopefully the next generation will carry the torch into the future.

    100 percent correct late stage capitalism is the dull grey beige dystopia of puritianical plutocrats and middle class cancel culture. Let it rot. The Chinese phrase “let it rot” (摆烂, bǎi làn) is a recent addition to the country’s lexicon, emerging in 2022. It means “to actively embrace a deteriorating situation, rather than trying to turn it around” or “to accept and surrender to a declining or unfixable situation.”

    Its like human history started in 1850 or approximately thereabouts for leftists. Communism/capitalism have the same end goal; the end of man as cultural-historic being. This includes any taint of spirituality. They have no ideas about the occult, the mysteries, esotericism and in general all the weird anomalous stuff out there. Fisher is painted into a corner by refusing to question basic facts about "science". No wonder he was miserable af. He didn't go far enough in his questioning of the reality that was presented to him. Rave music? Yea its fun but what about the idea its main purpose back in the 90s was to distract people and zonk them out on drugs? He was naive. He was a perfect capitalist realist.

    Morale of this story is don´t write an insanely thick book and let it be about a guy who does not care for anybody but himself and his non sense and let him and his cronies go after another guy who owns a cool aircraft which is the fastest aircraft in the world, just because its cool and then call it Atlas Shrugged, the Fountainhead or some other ridiculous name. Here is why: 1, its about a boring guy, 2, its about everybody´s life being boring, 3, it has a fast aircraft which just makes things even more boring, because its a hell of a thick Benny Hinn chase going after that aircraft in particular in that book lol. Thanks for this video!! Excellent analysis and summation!! Best wishes to you from Iceland!!

    Things will change when we realize we have to pay for the system we have because, as it is organized, bill aren't due anytime soon. If the highest official at the Fed says that money is a mousse click moving between accounting tables, then why need we worry? No one sees money. And that's the matrix in fact; it's not code, it's actually the financial system.

    As a mathematician, I find myself intrigued by the inherent ambiguity of language-a theme central to Jacques Derrida's lectures and work. In mathematics, our 'primitives' or foundational concepts are defined by their properties and dynamics, forming a language of precision and unambiguous communication. Yet, in the human linguistic sphere, as Derrida often explored, words or 'primitives' are more fluid, shaped by sensory input and complex associations. Take, for instance, the multifaceted nature of simple words like 'speech' or 'address.' 'Speech' can refer to the act of talking or a formal oration, and 'address' might mean a formal speech or a physical location. This polysemy, the coexistence of many possible meanings for a word or phrase, is absent in the mathematical lexicon, where each term has a clearly delineated boundary. Derrida's deconstructionist approach sheds light on this ambiguity. He emphasized how words are not merely vessels for pre-existing meanings but are active participants in meaning creation, constantly in flux. This is evident when considering a word like 'dog.' In its basic form, it refers to an animal, a meaning established through direct association. However, the moment it's used metaphorically-say, to describe an unfaithful person-the word's meaning shifts, embodying the very essence of linguistic ambiguity that Derrida examined. What captivates me about philosophy is its rigorous examination of the very essence of ambiguous language. Philosophers venture beyond merely acknowledging the existence of multiple definitions; they probe deeply into the implications of this ambiguity. In doing so, they unravel the intricacies and complexities of human communication. Their approach is not just about facing the proverbial 'devil in the details' but engaging with it, dissecting and understanding each nuanced aspect. This thorough exploration is what I find most compelling.

    Interesting. Yeah, I agree with most of this, except for the solution. It's plain weird and it's about... art?! I see nothing bad about communism 2.0, either. And by communism I mean, among other things, a kind of system where prices are regulated to eliminate any inflation, just like the USSR used to do (and with great success). Imo it's the only way to disempower capitalists and their parasitism on the rest of society. Inflation is their major tool of power. For example, when the government raises pensions, businessmen raise prices, I've seen that plenty and I've talked to a few (Question: Why is this cake so much more expensive since today? Answer: The pensions just got raised!) This tool creates a vicious circle of perpetual poverty for the majority, whereas the businessmen thrive. And today we can see how amidst of the global economical crisis the businesses thrive more than ever by using the crisis as an excuse to raise their prices extremely high. In my country a few investigations into that has happened already, it was found that there was no sufficient reason for the huge price raise, and businesses were forced to drop the exorbitant prices, for example, for the chicken. However there are a lot more overpriced products, you can't investigate them all. If anything, the crisis just shows how capitalism really works. Only the naive can still believe that prices have ever been set in a fair way by the magical hand of the market.

    Great video about a great author. In France, the philosopher Jean-Claude Michéa is going further on the political aspect. He describes right and left as 2 entangled sides of liberalism : none of them threaten capitalism. Left liberalism only "fights" for minorities and these fights never threatem capitalism. They don't care about the working class. Left has nothing to do with socialism. And thus, here, since the 80s, working class has moved to reactionary populists like Le Pen or Zemmour.

      Your comment was so enlightening as to why the liberal fight for marginalized rights in the US has felt so hollow for so long - because it's a fight to get them into the same position as the white working class which ALSO SUCKS. Capitalism isn't threatened by that prospect of "equality" at all.

    Having spent the early part of my life in the “modern world” ( vs. “post modern”), I started to notice some young people in the 2000’s who seemed to be imitating life rather than really living it. They seemed like “posers” to me, somewhat laughable and sad.
