The 10 Books That Rekindled My Reading Flame
great video. i just finished and all though not really liking it at the beginning by the end i wanted more
I totally agree. Even if he had added 2-3 more chapters at the end to tie it all up, it would have left me more satisfied.
love this video
Another great review! The extract you read sounded very descriptive - I could imagine the landscape so well :)
It was such an unexpectedly breathtaking and painful read!
Great review! I love how you talked at the end about the nuances of book banning and the importance of reading this book alongside Huckleberry Finn. I am sitting down here in bit to film a full review as well. Thanks for doing this buddy read!
Thank you! It was such an impactful book. Let’s do another read soon!
@@ReadingRekindled I would definitely be up for another read!
Can't wait to read it.
You won’t regret it!
🎉🎉🎉
Interesting 🎉🎉❤❤
I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about James, but haven’t jumped at it due to not being so familiar with Huckleberry Finn. But your review made the story and purpose of James very clear for me - and it sounds brilliant! Definitely need to get to it now. Another great review! 😊
It is totally worth the hype. I am glad you are liking the reviews, more to come!
Great channel name HAHA! Excited to check out more of your stuff ;)
Oh no!! I promise, I thought I was the only one with this name haha. Thank you for watching and excited to see your content as well!
@@ReadingRekindled 😜 all cool, we’re all here for the same reasons! Happy reading!
I love Marriage Story (and stories about relationships in general) so I reckon I would like this! What a great review (and bookshelf haha). The passage you read was great 👌
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m thrilled to hear that you loved the review. It means a lot! I just finished building my office/reading room, so that compliment is huge. The tone and vibe of the novel definitely have some major similarities to "Marriage Story."
Love the new mic! Nice and crisp voice. Seeing those rodes all over now.
Fun challenge!! You got a great amount of reading in! I think the most I have read in a day (at least in more recent years) was 4 hours. I have been debating if I want to read The Women or not. It sounds really good but also possibly an emotionally hard read.
It was an emotional book and hard to read certain parts but super impactful. I definitely hit a reading slump for a few days after this challenge!
Great video! Good to know about the gunslinger book, I loved The Road, and I have kind of an on/off relationship with King 😂 The sinners bleed one sounds so good, I think I’ve heard of that one before, I’m gonna add it to my list! Nice to see another newbie booktuber like me! 👏🏼
I am the same way with King. I need to be in the right mood to pick one of his books up but when I do…it’s always amazing. The Sinners Bleed is so dang good and I’m going to pick up one of his other books “Razorblade Tears” to read soon. Thank you for the welcome and excited to see someone new on this journey!
I love your dog! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book overall. I love her writing and her humor. Agreed with everything you said about her descriptions. Happy Place was not my favorite of hers, as I didn't really connect to the characters either. I connected much more to the characters in Funny Story. I appreciate you sharing about PTSD. It's such a hard thing to work through (and hard to share about!) and I always appreciate when books can show various mental health realities in a way that is realistic. Side note: I just got my copy of James for July! Excited to dive in.
Thank you! Muffin is my reading partner most days. I already own a copy of Book Lovers and plan on getting Funny Story as well. I am so excited to jump into James as well! Also, I saw there is a July camp for NaNoWriMo and maybe we could join one of the writing groups for that.
@@ReadingRekindled Hopefully you enjoy those Henry books as well! Ooh I always forget about the July camp! What's your username for NaNoWriMo? Mine is llamasandbutterflies lol
@BonnieNicoleWrites amazing username! My name is PapaStu for NaNoWriMo.
Welcome to Book tube! Still new to this malarkey myself and finding my way around. Best wishes with what you choose to read and to your channel. Happy reading to us all.
Thank you so much!
Oh no!! I'm hoping to start this in June.
I may have been in the wrong mindset when I read it. Let me know what you think of it!
@@ReadingRekindled I get that. Sometimes it can just be the timing of a book. I'll let you know when I get to it!
Your review of Alone with You in the Ether sounds so great! I've heard good things and really want to read it. I like having books that portray mental health in a realistic way.
It is such a good book! Such a fast read as well.
Solid recommendations. I liked Song of Achilles quite a bit. (If you haven’t read Circe yet, it’s also fantastic.) Hamnet was really good. Generally anything by Maggie O’Farrell is going to be good. Her book The Marriage Portrait is one of my faves. Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow is a book that just didn’t work for me. I wanted to love it, but it just never clicked for me. Misery is solid. Kathy Bates breaking his legs still gives me nightmares. 11/22/63 is my mom’s favorite book. I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on the never ending TBR.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the books! Knowing that most of the recommendations resonated with you means a lot. I will have to pick up Circe, I have heard so much about it! And wow, that scene in Misery plays in my frequently.
Hey Stuart! Welcome to booktube! Happy to see you here! Ooh Demon Copperhead. That’s definitely a popular one right now. Glad it helped get you out of your slump. On your questions…Interacting with your community, treat people like your friends. Make posts of behind the scenes real life stuff. Run polls on what videos to make or what books to read. Ask questions of your viewers. Respond to the comments you receive. Comment on other booktubers channels. Collab with other channels. Do livestreams occasionally so you allow for live engagement. And how to pick books…now that you’re here you’ll never have a shortage of recommendations. Every one picks differently. Personally, I curate a TBR of about 30 books per month based on a theme or genre and then I mood read from those 30. Whatever you do, pick a method that keeps it fun and enjoyable for you. Ahh Into The Wild. I’ve actually been up to the part of Alaska where he ended up. I couldn’t cross the river to get to the actual spot, but it was pretty remarkable just seeing the vast nature around it. I’ve subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos soon.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome and great advice! I'm excited to dive deeper into the booktube community. My TBR is running wild at the moment so I am going to have to take some time to put some thought into it. I hope one day we will be able to collaborate on something together and I look forward to watching your journey as well!
What a fun reading challenge idea! The only one of these I have read is Someday Someday Maybe. I really like Lauren Graham as well, especially in Parenthood. I had a hard time getting through the book though. :/ Ahh what a headache with the travel days!! Glad you made it home.
It was such a fun challenge! I’m planning on doing a Stephen King Dark Tower series challenge next and complete it in one month. So many pages! It was a little tough getting through this book and Elixir, but the other three were great reads.
@@ReadingRekindled That's a fun goal!!
Same 😊🎉
Checked
Welcome to booktube Stuart! Into the Wild is a book that I've been meaning to pick up - I've heard it's a well written biography on McCandless. Glad to have you here, looking forward to more :)
It is such a great book, I highly recommend reading it! Thank you for watching and I am looking forward to watching your journey as well!
I enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing, but I haven't seen the movie. I heard that it's not very good compared to the book, but....I feel like that's typical for movie adaptations. 😂 James is on my TBR and I am really excited to read it. I hope to get to it this summer.
Any BookTubers book clubs where we could suggest it as a read?! I’ve been trying to join one for a while.
@@ReadingRekindled I know @ellenmadebookclub has been trying to start a book club! She was asking for book suggestions too I think on a community post a few weeks ago.
@@ReadingRekindled So I somehow thought I had already replied to this but apparently not! Oops! I know of one UA-camr who does a book club but she has already picked the prompts for June. (ellenmadebookclub...love her channel!) Would you be interested in doing a buddy read (reading James) with me for June or July?
@@BonnieNicoleWrites, that would be amazing! Would you want to plan on July?
@@ReadingRekindled Sure! Sounds great!
Glad I stumbled upon your channel! Also pleased to see some nonfiction represented with the Krakauer. Looking forward to more stuff!
Thank you so much for watching! He is an amazing author 100%.
Hope your eye gets better soon. 10.5 books is a lot. That's great.
Welcome to BookTube.
Thank you!
Thank you, I was looking for a good book that will keep me up! Thank you so much for the recommendation!
I have heard such good things about S.A. Cosby and I will be picking up he’s previous novel as well!
@@ReadingRekindled Really! Thank you so much!

Hey I don't know if you would enjoy doing a book tag or not, but in case you are interested....I tagged you in a library lovers book tag on my channel!
Bonnie, thank you so much for tagging me. Sorry for just now getting back to you as I have been on holiday in Mexico for the last week. I would love to participate!
@@ReadingRekindled That's ok! I hope you had a great time on your trip.
All of BookTube is trying to convince me to read Red Rising 🤣 and I think your review convinced me to finally add it to my TBR! I used to like Agatha Christie, but when I've read her books in more recent years, they haven't really appealed to me. I can see them being good breaks in between more sad or deep reads, though.
You will not regret reading Red Rising! Let me know if you start it, I would love to hear your review on it.
@@ReadingRekindled Will do!
Oh wow, thank you so much for the shout-out! I haven't read Mistborn, but I want to read it this summer! I just read my first Brandon Sanderson (Tress of the Emerald Sea) and enjoyed it. Alone With You in the Ether is on my TBR! It sounds really good. Emily Henry holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to contemporary romance. My favorite by her so far is Beach Read. I just started her new release, Funny Story, and have high hopes!
I’m going to pick up Tress of the Emerald Sea I’ve heard great things! I think I will like the Emily Henry book so will be grabbing Beach Read if I do.
Welcome to BookTube! What a fun memory of staying up to buy the new HP and then staying up to read! I love stories of childhood reading memories. I was JUST looking at The Road on Goodreads. I think it might be too emotional for me right now though. I don't often read very sad books, as I generally read to escape real life (which is often sad enough as is! lol). I love hearing from other perspectives though, even on books I haven't read. The only full length Stephen King book I have read so far is Fairy Tale. I really enjoyed his writing style. Demon Copperhead is on my TBR!
Bonnie, thank you so much for the warm welcome to the community! If you haven't read Foster by Claire Keegan, I would recommend that as an excellent short read before or after reading Demon Copperhead. It still hits on the subjects of foster care, poverty, and neglect but does so in a gentle and less saddening way.
@@ReadingRekindled Thank you! I appreciate that recommendation. I'll definitely do that.
