1st round goes to TXSU wth.. Yea Southern had their moments. But the song Txsu played afterwards started off nice, but towards the middle and end. it was just a mud slide. At 1 point all i heard was btones, tubas and drums, and the other part towards the end, all i heard was trombones and drums. i could not understand the runs they were trying to play; the trumpets and mellos was m.i.a and completely dropped the ball on those runs. What made it worse was there was lots of runs in the song, so i got really lost. There's no way Txsu won that 1st round imo. In fact. I remember watching the battle when it was uploaded, and based on that 1st round, i remember saying, I can see how this battle is going to go.. Southern was gonna put pressure on them and basically wear them down. And that's pretty much what happened. Txsu didn't do as good as i expected them. Southern came at them strong the whole 0 and 5th, and i expect a bigger fight from Txsu. I think they did better last year than this year against Southern. which makes sense, giving the improvements Southern made from last yr. But i do also agree that TXsu Song selection hurt them. and personally. When i heard them play Ring my bells. I knew they were done. They weren't going to recover and win the battle.

ASU did seem to have wayyyyyy more ENERGY than us in this battle.....🤷

The only thing that may be debatable will be the MEAC ranking is having 2 schools, Hampton and NCA&T Who are no longer in the MEAC.

In my opinion A&T vs Norfolk is like the MEAC counterpart to boombox classic, anytime they see each other all hell breaks loose lol. However, I would like to see them, Norfolk and central have a 3 way gym battle or something. It’s happened before but with Vstate, A&T and Norfolk

personally I disagree with your take on famu’s first round. just because it was a short piece does not mean it wasn’t it. its a simple arrangement that stays within the pocket of “famu standards” and what they play. overall i think the piece sounded great and fans enjoyed it

FAMU got smacked around this year in the stands. They really didn’t have the book or energy. That’s probably why they didn’t travel much this year. Maybe they were putting all of their cards into this event and focused on field shows? Idk. But you weren’t wrong about the stands. Straight abused in the stands but their field shows including this one have been solid

Valley is "improved," but I've watched an improved Valley pop up every few tears. THey look especially promising early in the season, but sometimes as the season goes on or they start having longer battles, old Valley always creeps back in. The director did a good job this battle of playing it safe for most of the battle and not letting it go on too long. It's best to keep it simple until the staff gets the band to where they're supposed to be. No way Valley gets that round because you heard a couple of counts at the end of the song you didn't like
