Ive been caught in snow storms. But it never made me thursty for a glass of milk.
Rodriguez Sarah Allen Edward White Paul
It was a blast! I live in NH and I was also a paperboy. My brother's and I made a lot of money shoveling snow and we also shoveled the elderly folks in our neighborhood out for free. I loved growing up in the 1970s, the music, r TV shows, the pop culture, etc... It was so much fun!! My brother's and I use to make a skating rink in our backyard and the neighborhood kids would come over to skate or play hockey with us. We didn't have a huge yard but we made it work.
I farted during the blizzard of 1977-78 😊💩😅
Living right on the ocean just south of Boston it was the tidal surge that got us the worse, water was literally pouring over the seawall, when the ocean slush started coming in the living room with high tide still hours away we had to evacuate, I was 17 and carried my little brother, mom, dad, older brother, we trudged through knee high ocean slush to get to higher ground on the way to my grandparents house a 1/2 mile away on top of a hill, snowdrifts 4/5 feet deep, got to the house with a real fireplace, we huddled around that for hours, the next day I walked back down to the shore, to the house, there was 4 feet in the living room, our cars were literally frozen in 4/5 feet of ice, walking on top of the cars, only the tip of the antennas poked through. North Weymouth, Mass. February 1978.
I was living in Parkersburg,WV, waiting to go into the Air Force. The snow drifts were at least 8 feet high.
I was 11 we lived in Bellingham Massachusetts. That was a hell of a snowstorm an the last year we lived up north. We moved to Florida, I hate the beach an miss the four seasons.
We had no electricity for a month, no heat, no television, but the telephone still works. My dad didn't miss a single day of work, we had a Jeep. The next year he bought a 71 Blazer because the Jeep was too small. Family of 8 didn't fit in a CJ5.
The machine in the picture was a loader not a bulldozer. Bulldozer does not work for snow. It would destroy the black top. Snowmobile were very popular back then. You could ride one anywhere you wanted to go. Now people would have you arrested for driving across their property.
Punxsutawney Pa school was closed for a month.
Joe said it would! He even predicted what time the snow would stop at Greater Pittsburgh Airport, and he was right. 5 minutes after he said it would end it did!
I was on the South shore I'd Long Island. It was bad .It began with a clap of thunder. Snowed two days. School opened up on Friday. Snow was on the ground for over a month.
I remember it was 12 yrs old n the only one that perdition this was a news weather man name Bruce from Channel 4..
Imagine, Americans actually helping each other. There's definitely something to learn here.
I dont remember this , i lived in michigan went to collage in colorado . Thankyou for sharing . I remember it was so cold in michigan It was at 0 degrees and the wind . Very cold to walk .
Time proves no power wills of God are control by no human
I was a teen during the blizzard of 78 in Massachusetts we had 48" - 56" of snow in our yard. I remember opening the back door and you was looking at nothing but snow, the snow drifts were crazy. So we had to go to the upper level of our home and use the patio door to go outside onto the patio deck. We used sleds and walked to the store for food some used ski mobiles with sleds tied to the back to drag food through the snow to help people out, you did what you could. Back then everyone helped out however they could that's how it was back then. We was with out electric and heat for 5 days we used every blanket we could find in the home to keep warm and stayed by our wood burning fireplace for heat.
Aggravating, Same 2 people say the same thing. The news didn't tell us how much snow we would get.... Yes I was alive.. 7 but alive, Dad had a caddy it was a great week for us.. friends and I.. Old Leftest blow shit way worse, so dramatic.. Look out the window!! its snowing hard and isnt stopping. Hello
This wasn’t the same one that hit the Midwest. That occurred in January.
The last blizzard I saw snow. BYE.
We lived in Plymouth, Mass at the time. I was 6 years old, my older brother and baby brother thought it was great. We didn't realize how bad it was for some people. I still have the Survival Certificate framed on the wall... 😮
I lived in north Weymouth,Mass. right in the ocean, we had 4' of slush in the living room, I was 17 and I carried my little brother who was 5, mom and dad we all had to trudge through the slush and go to my grand parents house up on the hill
I was in Northern Michigan and we got 4 ft of snow. No school for 2 weeks. It was great!
I was 9, living in Queens, and remember hearing the trains stopped running. Since school was cancelled, Mom sent me to the supermarket and they were rationing food. I was able to get 1/2 gallon of milk!
Just to think, here in New York City we barely had an inch of snow for the entire Winter of 2022-2023. Back in '78, those were some great times - the good old days.
NO ridiculous climate change rhetoric back then!!
I was in Ohio.
I was in college, in CT. It was the first time, in the history of that college, that it closed because of weather. It was closed for 3 days!
I live in Ohio and I remember this like it was yesterday the day before the storm started I had just gotten out of the hospital I was 11 years old and had my tonsils taken out and it just gotten out of the hospital and the storm hit the next day and I live in was pretty bad and we lived on a farm and my dad had to be taken in a tractor to the house because his car got stuck in a ditch because they sent him home from work
I was 11 when the blizzard came. Thank God we were prepared and safe. I remember the way the snow drifted on the front of the house enabled me to kind of dig out like a tunnel from the window to the middle of our yard. I don't even remember getting cold. The igloo effect, I guess! Those were the good ol days for sure.
The snow was up to a foot to the top of the doors my brother and dad dug out of the house
That was 45 years ago My cat got pregnant during The storm under dad's car we got her in she was cold and had one kitten after her term.
I was 7 years old . Those were storms , we had a balll as kids , I remember jumping over the snow and building snow fort’s
In 1977and 1978 I was 18 and living in east central Illinois. I never shoveled so much snow in my life. My back still hurts 😢😢
Got 18 inches in NYC near 2 ft long isle
I was 3 I was there but I missed it 😂
I was 21 and hitch hiking from indiana to maine..
Driving down country roads was like driving in a mini canyon. Every time the roads were plowed the next day it was covered again by the wind. It was the only time I could Ice fish on Pana lake.
My storm worse than your storm?????? wtf...... I only know my experience in this storm.... seems weird...Heroic & horrible memories..... There is a lack of empathy & true understanding of this event.
I was 30 in a second floor Apartment with snow completely covering all the windows and the slider Door to the little porch. Couldn't get out of the building for 3 days and then it took a couple of weeks before things were able to move again. I remember the snow walls wherever you went and then in the spring all the Flooding because of the snow and the bad rainstorms we got. It was bad for sure.
I lived 5 miles from the nearest town and we lived 26 miles from Battle Creek MI
I was 7 was the blizzard hit and we lived on a small farm with dairy cows and we were snowed in for 4 days and no school for a week ha ppy days those were.
We move to Florida the next year.been living in Florida 43 years.
I was in that blizzard.
Just turned 16 in Toledo. That night I heard thunder and seen lightning ⚡.First time I ever experienced that.Big fun, good times
This storm affected more area than New England.I lived in central Indiana, and we got lots of snow, from this blizzard.
