Hi friend, how can I order a piston for a 1978 YZ125? Or what piston is compatible with that bike?
@@Ivan-ng3kn look on eBay for wiesco or old stock OEM
Do I need all these Parts you wrote done? Mine is like hopping in fifth Gear only. Its like Pulling the Clutch and let it off again.
@@twelyprivat7782 yes id remember the 3 gears, fork and new clip
Really good, thank u man , u helped me a loooot !!!
How did you get the exhaust valve out mine is stuck
@@geometromonkey the side ones I assume you mean. Pull them up about a inch or less then can pull shaft out
why did they go with the pins and forks being as one and not sliding through like virtually every other 2 stroke gearbox including my 02 yz 125? I got humbled real quick trying to put my trans back together. it is HARD lol
@@dr00andrew not positive but I think it was because the fourstroke then was like that. In 99' yz250 got that style trans. They went back to old style on fourstrokes not long after that but Twostrokes the same still now. It works good tho lol when it's not slipping 😆😆 I got to where I'd just change the 3 gears and fork every time I did rebuild on my race bikes. Because I went threw few when switching to yam from Kawasaki back in 05 06ish
One time I had to replace 7 gears and 2 forks and they add up lol . That time 2nd and 4th were slipping which is rare. Usually 3rd
@@dr00andrew but ya haha can be pita . The way I do in video sometimes I nail it in few seconds other times takes couple tries 😀 I've done a shit load tho lol
@@thetwostrokerebuilder haha i usually cross my fingers and hope the transmission is all good. I always bring it to someone for a second opinion and have them replace the gears if necessary
Good tips my chain came off an took little off my case its not that bad though an case saver suck ass the chain hits the case an all case save does save ur foot from hitting chain
Yikes!
😀😀
@@thetwostrokerebuilder I think my friend @julienARcalifornia made the same mistake when timing his Husky 350 years ago. It ran for a while until it quit deep in a forest. I towed him as far as I could with my DRZ but he had to go back the next weekend and pull it out with another friend
gracias
What's the right compression?
Not sure never did one but I'd say around 120-140
Nice
Ahh! The days of premix an muscles ach.

Hey brother I’m currently taking apart my own Suzuki ds80 motor could you help and tell me how you took apart the screws for the clutch under the clutch basket it’s my first time on a engine and I’m afraid I’ll strip the screws I’m trying to pull the engine apart to check the inside of the engine and replace the kickstarter
Make me one like that master 🙂. In all seriousness, do you have any good cores to make a long rod crank for my YZ125?
How is the new tank vent installed? Just insert the small end into the tank and pull it from the inside until it seats into place? I've got one that is leaking and haven't tried removing it yet. Was waiting until I get the new one to look at it good first to see how it's made. So, this part is like a miniature funnel, and what you're calling the "filter" is stuffed into the large end, holding it tight into the hole in the fuel tank? I'm sorry to seem slow, but this video is the ONLY thing I've found addressing this. And that's after hours of searching.
Dig the filter out then use a easy out to pull it out. If it's leaking gas there then filter is probably already out. Look in there with flashlight. Maybe even a screw would work to pull it out
@@thetwostrokerebuilder I see a white part inside of the black part. Since I'm already replacing it because it's leaking, I'll use a sharp drywall screw to screw into the white part (filter?) then pull it out. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll all come out together. going to try it right now.
@@thetwostrokerebuilder Okay. Success. It all came out together as one piece. Once I got it all out, I pulled (with the screw) the white part out. I think that must be a one-way valve of some sort, maybe not a "filter). Anyway, how does the new one go in? Push it in the same way it came out? The vent is a hard plastic, as is the tank. What keeps it from leaking? an O ring maybe?
@@davidgagnon2849 just push it in
Thank you. Just waiting on the part now.
i did something really similar but I changed the corresponding 5th gear on the main axle because the third on the counter still looked good
lol don’t know what it is but love these small engines
It's a chainsaw 😀
Very nice ! So cool when you can resurrect one of those carburetors that are headed for the landfill with a simple, no-nonsense fix. Did something similar with a John Deere carb a while back
Was about ready to smash it lol but I let the guy use one of my saws lol
That piston sure enough got really hot. I see this with the old Homelites I mess with fairly often
Perfection!
I used to overthink stuff so bad id actually convince myself the spring punch was going to shatter my piston........ Once i didnt shatter the piston id have this happy sense of achievement, get it all back together happy as a lamb then start convincing myself id weakened the piston and immediately sell it 😂😂 Im better now and recently rebuilt my FC350 which has run like a champ ever since 💪 id still worry about drilling a piston though for sure
Have you ever gotten a new brand new crank that wasn't true?
None that I've checked no
Awesome I have the same bike
Question I'm rebuilding a 92 YZ250 before I put the cases together I have all the transmission parts set in place but how do I verify that it works correctly they seem to shift okay but I cannot seem to get a neutral
Only goes in one way. Once together will be fine
Doesn't have to be in neutral to put together. That's a myth lol
What year was this bike. Have a 2023 that’s jammed in gear. Only 3 hours. Kids Dad was riding it when it happened
Was older one I can't remember I think 03 or so. Usually that's from bent fork pin. Landing with all your weight on shifter instead of peg does it
@@thetwostrokerebuilder Im a Yamaha guy have seen fork pins with heavy wear that stick in the shift cam. Have never seen one actually bend. But haven’t been in a 65 trans yet. Just trying to help nieces Dad. They just bought the bike and he took it for a leisurely ride and it jammed in 5th gear I believe. Appreciate your input.
clutch side crank seal.... spring facing in towards crank or out towards cover?
i put my transmission in but it wont shift more than 3 times up or down and i only have 1-3 sometimes 3 doesnt even work, does the drum have to be in a certain way?
When it's together or just in a half? They don't shift good apart. Will when together tho.
Only goes together one way. Even together gotta spin shaft to get it to shift.
fully together, its in the cases and doesnt want to shift more than twice @@thetwostrokerebuilder
when i took the old transmission out it shifted trough all of them with no issue@@thetwostrokerebuilder
@@thebigboomgaming1505 spins freely? Sometimes gotta whack the shaft I bit with mallot cause gets up tight against bearing and binds. Other than that it's pretty simple trans long as you got clips and trust washers all in where go. If shifted fine before it should be fine. But I mean you should definitely be able to shift threw the gears even if it's a bitch. Worse case split back apart and start over
No grease on crank Bearing. I already did that to one side and I believe its not a good idea. Red High temp bearing grease. I might need to start over.
bro im about to full rebuild my yz125 i need to know why is this bad? id appreciate a reply 🙏
@@mineer-pg5sv Using a high temp bearing grease is not a good idea because it wont melt and let the 2 stroke oil lubricate the crank bearings. Plus it might all gunk up in there. Yamaha shop manual states use a light amount of low temp lithium grease. I just used straight two stroke oil because when you put the case halves together they say to squirt some 2 stroke oil down the 2 holes on either side where the piston area is. Light assembly lube would be ok also. But not High temp Bearing grease.
@@ZPDSurvival screen shoted honestly I was thinking the exact same thing the second I heard to put bearing grease on it I thought of how bs that was because I knew it was just gonna get in the way of the 2 stroke oil that is gonna be fed to it as it runs im just gonna use 2 stroke oil thanks for the advice
