December 29, 2024 worship
On this first Sunday after Christmas we continued our celebration of the birth of Christ opening the service with a trumpet introit of "How Great Our Joy" and singing "Joy to the World" as our opening hymn. Other carols of "O Come, All Ye Faithful" were included and we ended the worship with "Go, Tell It on the Mountain." Tina Haines provided a witness regarding her birth announcement provided by her older sister which her father had framed and reminded her of her father's love and she connected to the announcement of Jesus' birth to the shepherds. The pastor, Dr. Brian Homan, spoke on Hebrews 2: 1-5, 14-18 regarding "How We Care for God's Gift."

We observed a traditional Candlelight Communion service on this Christmas Eve with readings from the Nativity by congregational members interspersed with the singing of carols and special music. On this First Sunday of Advent we read from both Isaiah 40: 3-5 and Mark 1: 1-11 as Marion Clark and Daren Giemza lit the first candle on the Advent wreath. We sang traditional Christmas Carols enjoyed Holy Communion. Pastor Homan continued our teaching series on Romans focusing on chapter 10: 1-18 and shared a message, "Lord, I Got My Ticket, Can I Ride?"

On this Thanksgiving Sunday we remembered the inauguration of our nation's first Thanksgiving. We sang traditional hymns such as "Come, You Thankful People, Come" and "For the Beauty of the Earth." Pastor Homan served as liturgist/reader while Lay Leader Joe Davis continued our teaching series on the Book of Romans in a message entitled "Why did You Chose Me Lord?"

The Kirkville Community Church celebrates its first year anniversary. We recalled who we are as a church and reviewed where we came from. We also received approved of our leadership for 2025 and the new leadership was consecrated for service. The Pastor, dr.
