Getting Started in Evangelism Week 2: Understand the Gospel Message
Amen in ChristJesus mighty name
The Israelites didn’t find rest in the land because The Father did not go with them (Exodus 33:3). Thus, they found no peace because their hope was in their own strength and understanding to defeat their enemies. This is an example of The Father using the “physical” that which we know, to reveal to them the “spiritual”, that which we don’t know or understand. In Paul’s letter to the Romans he explains what it means to find “rest” in great detail. Romans 7:14-25 “We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. The battle Paul is talking about isn’t about whether he should keep the law or not. It’s about his heart. Of course he wants to keep The Father’s commandments. But, because the heart of man is wicked, his natural desire is to sin, to transgress the law (1 John 3:4). Paul could see that what needed to change is not the elimination of the law, but the wretchedness of his heart. And that’s when he understood that the law is spiritual, so only those who have circumcised their heart to accept the terms of the covenant will receive the Holy Spirit who will guide them to see that it’s not about the actions we take but the heart that moves them. For example, a man will think himself righteous because he doesn’t have an affair with a co-worker he lusts after. But those who are in the Spirit will see their wretchedness because of the lust they have built up in their heart. This is what Christ is teaching us in His sermon on the Mount when He said: “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28) So what we find when we make a confession of faith isn’t rest, what we find is a battle, a battle between the truth of God and the lies of the enemy. Only those who plant The Word born of The Father in their heart will receive the Holy Spirit who will change the desires of their heart to align with the desires of The Father’s heart to find peace. But this doesn’t happen because we made a confession of faith, it happens as we tear down the strongholds of the idols we have built up in our heart (2 Corinthians 10:5). This is why we must set aside all the ways our flesh in order to expose all the ways we seek to find joy “outside of Christ”, because it’s going to be through the rest we experience on the Sabbath that will allow us to comprehend the rest we’ll have with Christ during his millennial reign. So just as what we do to prepare for the Sabbath each week that allows us to rest on the Sabbath, it will be all that we do to prepare now that will allow us to rest with Him during His millennial reign. May you be blessed in your pursuit of truth.
Tried to wTch this...find no way to get sound....
Hi Kathy, unfortunately we had issues with our sound output at the beginning of the service. It was corrected before the sermon began. So you have two options: you can skip to 21:45 in the livestream video above, which will also allow you to listen to our closing worship, or you can listen to just the sermon by following this link here: ua-cam.com/video/iknaFzE1jLo/v-deo.htmlsi=Lf9dzuWCXfzQNtIJ. Thanks for tuning in, let us know if there are any ways that our church can pray for you or serve you!

So can you clarify in 1 Corinthians 14:1 it says to desire to prophesy
Hi Johndavidperez, this is a good question, thanks for asking and for testing my teaching according to scripture! I offer a three point response for your consideration. 1--I think the Bible is divided into essentially two parts. The Old Testament age when the prophets spoke, and the New Testament age (the Church Age) when all believers have the Holy Spirit (see Jeremiah 31:31-34) and God's word. The life of Jesus and the Apostles is the link between these two ages, and there is some overlap as the Old Testament age ends and the Church Age begins. The writing of scripture occurs during this overlap, where there was some remnant of a kind of Old Testament prophecy still lingering. In other words, prophecy remained as a method for God to communicate with his people until the scriptures were completed. So in the historical framework of these overlapping ages, 1 Corinthians 14:1 points to prophecy as method God is still using at the establishment of the church and the scriptures, but which is a method he no longer uses because the scriptures and the Holy Spirit are superior methods for him to communicate to his people. Maybe one other way to say this would be to say that the first century was a unique period in the history of God's people, and we should read 1 Corinthians 14:1 understanding the uniqueness of that time. 2--We can still desire prophecy in a sense. The prophets were people who knew God's word. We can certainly desire their prophetic knowledge in the sense that we can know God's word through the scriptures. So let us desire prophecy in the sense that, like the Old Testament prophets, God's word drips from our lips and fills our hearts--informing all we do and say. 3--I did not say that prophesy itself is at an end, but I did say there are no more prophets with the authority to say "Thus says the Lord." The dominant feature of prophecy is not actually telling the future, it is speaking the truth. In this sense I believe a kind of prophecy remains. When we speak to one another the truth of scripture we are engaging in a kind of prophetic ministry. So encouragement, preaching, teaching, exhortation, rebuke; these can all be seen as New Testament parallels to Old Testament prophecy so long as they are in accordance with the Bible. But the authority of these kinds of truth-speaking words is not in the "prophet," it is in the word of God. Feel free to offer any rebuttals to these points if you wish. -Grady
Where is worship? Great message by the way. Don' let yourself become weary doing the thing that God has called you to. No matter what it is. God Bless
Hi Mr Vbobby, Thanks for your comment, and for checking out our video! If you're wondering where the worship portion of our service is in relation to the video, we cut the livestream down to post only the sermon. You can access the full service under our UA-cam Livestream option to view the music. As to the location of where our services are held, we meet at Desert Sunrise High School in Maricopa AZ. Hopefully that answers your question! Blessings! -Grady
you explained this sermon in a way that is easy to understand. We are to pray for our enemies and love thy neighbors. I find that even when I have hurt someone with words or deeds-and I ask them to forgive me-they say they do, but unlike Jesus-they bring up the past or they don't want to associate with me anymore-even tho' I am not that same person-even tho' I live for Christ- I am talking about my family my adult children. For 10 years I held on to guilt, rejection, loneliness, emotionally and mentally distraught, couldn't get out of bed, crying, pleading to them, but God knows my heart, He knows my devotion to him-regardless of how they feel-I forgive them-I love them-and always pray for all of them-even the people I do not know-the good and the bad. I finally forgave myself and was set free from that abandonment I felt and to this day, they claim to know Jesus-some go to Church, but I put my faith in God who will never leave me-who loves me, protects me, and He is an awesome God! I am 60 years old and I am awake to this world and what is happening in the World, but i will not conform to the world. I wish I lived where I could come to your Church because I need real bible ministering like you do. I live in Upstate NY and have family in Maricopa County. Please keep me in your prayers. My first name is Pam...God bless you!

Beautiful Sermon!! Thank you for sharing Grady, their are alot of us Christians who have those thoughts also. How loving Jesus is to minister to you in such a personal touching way.
This was such an amazing sermon! I reviewed it again this week before visiting a friend and was able to witness to her visiting relative over this topic. They were raised Jehovahs Witness so it was such a great illustration. It was an awesome powerful moment! Thanks!
