I always wondered how these larger pots were constructed. It is an engineering as well as artistic masterpiece.
Thanks for giving me a real chance to “see” Penda. I listen to many historical podcasts, my favorite being David Crowther’s History of England podcast. I keep going back to his Penda I and Penda II episodes. Your characterization truly completes my image of this man. Thanks from the US
I feel the same
Very very cool! I know some people who will really enjoy this content.
Beautiful showing of a once great king
Thanks I now know that it's possible that the bits of pottery I found is English? As I recognise the little fence on the shards I got from the beach .Funny how I thought I was looking at bits of cloud design turns out they are foothills .
Does anybody know what happened to Mitchell's Rolls Royce?
This is awesome, thank you, I like this portrayal of King Penda.
Ok

My Dad was a friend of Tim Chitty, and my Mum still has 3 small artworks of his on the wall. I'm sorry to hear he has passed away. My sympathies to his sister and other family and friends. He seems to have been a lovely man with a distinctive artistic style. I found it fascinating to see his house.
Sham on you for caging the plane
I remember in the 80s there was a gold ring on display in the same cabinet. Is it still there?
This is a great tour of your process. I am pleased that it popped up on my YT feed. If I ever get to your area I will be sure to visit the museum.

I knew Ken very well through the Squadron association. Along with his wife he was a stalwart of the association. I was very privileged to have known him.

Fantastic job! Very whimsical, can't believe such a small team has conjured it all up. Thank you for a virtual day out, I wish our local museum would get with it!
Wonderful animation of a fun topic. It is worth noting that this story is not Chinese, it was most likely created in England to give a story behind a plate design that was already widely popular. For most Europeans and Americans, this Willow Pattern design was the only thing they knew about China - which of course was always imaginary.
That may or not be true but we can do miracles on happy love stories💗
I really love the animation, and the way this story was told. Not only does it cover an interesting Chinese tale, It also explains vividly, visually, and relevantly the concept behind the Willow Pattern. This pattern was one of my mum's favourites, and now I have an even deeper understanding and appreciation for it. Well done, indeed!
My homework
Seems like an odd and almost obscure location for displaying national treasures. How did they end up there? A museum and gallery shop?
Hi Harper - the Staffordshire Hoard is held jointly by The Potteries Museum and Birmingham Museums - The Potteries Museum is the main depository for archaeological finds in Staffordshire. The shots of the Foyer Shop in the video are just highlighting some replicas and merchandise that is available for purchase, the treasures themselves are displayed in our Anglo Saxon Kingdom of Mercia Gallery.
Really interesting Joe, keep up the good work.
