DO NOT HAMMER!! It will only damage your valve stem seal. I got the deals changed from a shop and wanted to inspect it as they had not done a good job. As I suspected some of the valve seals were damaged and therefore I took the challenge to change it on my own and I realized that their weren’t any video about how to put it on the correct way. I made one so it would be helpful for anyone else w...

Craftsman lawnmower smoking and oil leaking from air filter housing
Переглядів 70 тис.4 роки тому
Hi today I will be showing you how to fix a lawnmower which is leaking oil from the air filter housing and excessive smoking
Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Could also be a blown head gasket, Not uncommon on Briggs engines.
Why did u take all the other stuff off of it was just a pVC cover ? Flywheel off why ? Don’t understand this
Because the pcv valve is under the flywheel. You have to remove the flywheel, the engine cover, replace or clean the pcv valve and then put gasket maker on it before installing
Fiskars StaySharp Max Reel Mower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend This is what all push mowers should strive for. It was easy to push. It cut the lawn. The blades are sharp, very sharp. The one minus that everyone should be aware of is you need to be very careful taking the cutting unit out of the box. There’s a plastic guard so you don’t cut fingers as you take the main unit out of the box but it’s not taped down. As I took the unit out, I ended cutting a piece of my shirt. The plastic guard moved and my shirt touched one of the blades.
Did you just clean the drain holes or did you replace the entire crankcase breather assembly with a new one? THANKS!

well, this looks like a bad design. would be more intuitive to make them bottom out (which most of car does)
Easy fix
Good job
bad job very bad job. you need to do it right and experience,
What did he do wrong?
I am watching yet confused, at 8:55, are you removing excessive oil from the engine ? Was this possibly the true problem to begin with? You then immediately check the dipstick level twice thereafter.
Love the paint!
Very good info, thanks
Good video, I never would of thought a mower has a PCV
Find out that I overfild my lawnmower with oil, helped me a lot, just to tilt and take out amount that was to much in lawnmovier, startet from first time, without filter, I watched it more for leaks from air filter housing but it was 👌.basically like in this video ua-cam.com/video/E93phoyAfSw/v-deo.html
I never even thought of this... I thought it was carb needle and seat. I took carb off and checked needle seemed out of place. I will check that pvc valve. Its a old Snapper hat was in a lake for a day. I got it going. It works but today it was shuddering . and gas was in the oil crank case. I checked compression its at 40. But who knows. I have gotten mowers running with 30 psi
I have a mower with gas in the oil too
Where did u buy the starter from?
How did you clean your pvc valve?
Thanks very good 👍🤖
Thanks a lot I did not know the operation of how to put this together I checked mine while I was in the midst of assembly and at least three of my valve stem seals had moved out of place!!!
Great video and helped me a lot.
That symptom of blowing white smoke is typically (not always) the crankcase being overfilled. I just got a Craftsman 675 (190cc) 3 weeks ago with the same symptom. The crankcase should have 18 fluid ounces of oil and in the case of the one I got from the curb it had well over 30 fluid ounces. For me I drained, refilled with new and power washed the engine. Runs like new and no more white smoke. Good job on your repair.
Good information, thanks!
If its caused by tilting without top dead center the piston it allows oil to get into the airline. I learned this 30 years ago. Just my observation why not clean the machine before putting it back together? Glad you showed the pcv that mostly nobody ever shows they just show carb cleaning.
Can't hear it!
Is all this really worth it?
Yeah unless your lazy
👍👍👍
The closed caption is fantastic on this. Lots of music and applause.
I watched this and told myself: time to buy a new mower!
Hello I know that’s right
Got that right👍🏻
😂😂😂
Its not that hard.... My 10 year old son can do it and he has. More then once... What happened to U.S??? What happened to fixing things?? No wonder everything built to break. It because when things break people throw it away. So why put quality in to something if people will throw it away at the first problem it has? I have about 10 or 12 mowers sitting waiting to be sold that i got from dump loads that all had 5 min problems and now all run and start as good as new. Cost??? Well people say oh well its not worth it.... Really. $15 carb or a 2 dollar fuel hose is more expensive then a $200 to $300 mower??? Wake up people! This is why nothing built with quality anymore!
@@dieselbossbrandon people are stingy they find stuff and almost most of the time they don't even put much money into them and try to get loads of $ for them stingy stingy stingy 😅
You are the man! After the twentieth screw I was lost
Need help
To start with this comes from several reasons. First people tilt their mowers which is wrong which makes oil leak where it was not intended to go. Mowers should only be tilted back on their handle. If you tilt the engine you will have these problems. In some cases oil can fill the piston chamber making it in possible to pull the cord.
Actually, you can tilt the mower, but only if the piston is at TDC and you are tilting it to the muffler side.
It is perfectly fine to tip a lawnmower on it side with the air filter UP (pointing to the sky) and exhaust down. Tipping back on the handle limits how you can get under the thing.
Very helpful and easy way to change the valve stem seal.. so far I got a doubt about hammer or not at the end I followed the way on this video and it’s made my work super easy and its amazing. thanks a lot..
Great video detailing a process not seen much from my perspective. Thanks for sharing!
Great job but I don´t have the mechanical skills to go that far. My options now is to get someone to do it or trash it. Thanks
You can do it if you have some basic tool I can help if you have any questions
@@fixall7176 I really appreciate that. I saw another video suggesting that the problem could be due to tipping the mower and some oil could have been mixed with the gas. Just let it run about 15 seconds and it stopped the smoking.
@@fixall7176 Did you take that apart more than necessary, for example did you really have to take the flywheel off?
Is there any easier way??? Instead of removing everything i feel like it is over my head. Thanks
Is not that hard to do . If you want you can follow the line go to pcv just remove you could do that way let me know thanks
I feel the same way. I can do small mechanical repairs on my lawnmower but this is way too far from my skills. Either I pay someone to fix it or it going to the garbage after replacing wheels, carburetor, filter and oil.
That is the possibly best video about oil leaking. I have the same mower with same problem. However, there is some missing part at 6:28. You removed the screws and then what you did there? Did you use a gasket maker? Can you explain, please?
I did nothing. When you remove the pcv valve take a look at that tiny hole, you can make that hole a little bit bigger then it will work good. Also clean the diaphragm and make sure that the diaphragm is clean and closed properly. If it doesn’t work change the pcv valve.
@@fixall7176 Thanks for the reply. I did everything as you described and the oil leak issue is fixed. When I refill the oil, there is no leakage. However, the pull cord is also stuck. When I force the pull cord, leakage starts again. What do you recommend?
HPS Purchasing Department if leaking again you could remove the pcv valve you will see the tiny hole on the bottom of the pcv you can make that hole little bigger it should be fine . Make sure the diafram. On the pcv close properly you can use for gasket any automotive rvt silicon should work let me know
why did you unscrew the top screws for the top pcv lines? you took out the screws but i don't know why? thank you
Amazing I have the same issue. What is the part number for this piece, or how should I clean it out?
Armando Sanchez hi Pcv valve you could clean it with brake part cleaner you can buy it from any automotive shop on the valve tany hole on bottom you could make it little bit bigger should work
Yes you can clean it it work
Pcv valve part
Carb cleaner work also
I wonder if you put some seafoam or atf fluid in the oil if it would unplug the pcv hole?
No. Any penetrating oil will wear out the piston ring
@@fixall7176 thanks for the reply
I'm going to try this ...if it works...you are a life saver
Nester Hernandez, most of the lawnmowers models are same and the same fix. Let me know if you find any issue happy to help.
