Northridge Fire in Fourth of July, 2024
Northridge Fire in Fourth of July, 2024 - A scene walking up to a fire, presumably (though not proven) caused by fireworks, which ended up also getting the building next it, a house, also involved (per the radio reports). Pretty scary stuff, took my breath away. Always something near me!

Fourth of July fire in Northridge California

Fourth of July fire in Northridge California, possibly due to fireworks, 07/04/24. A lot of fireworks went off that night, and we had quite dry conditions. Something similar happened in recent years just a quarter mile north on Wilbur, at Parthenia. I'll repost that video sometime here.
Hit and Run Northridge California - 10/7/23
Переглядів 639 місяців тому
This happened at around 10:20PM on Saturday night, 10/7/23. I heard a noise of a skidding car, then a big crash, and the power went out for about 10 seconds. When I walked down the block to see, a car had crashed, a LAUSD police officer was on scene (watch the video to find out why), and the driver had bailed on the vehicle, hit and run, city property involved.

I'm not sure of the species (if you know, please let me know in the comments!) but this was a hot day and I think the dragonfly needed rest. It was only somewhat bothered by me being around, and let me get close often. When it would fly away, it would make a slightly loud clicking noise while flying near me, maybe to express displeasure or to try to shoo me away. Very pretty, and I'm happy I go...

This is the much more detailed (3 cameras) footage of the USS Spruance from my recent trip. I hope you enjoy! We were fortunate to catch the USS Spruance, DDG 111, a Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer, as it was sailing into port, possibly as part of ongoing refitting or other training/testing. Beautiful
What State ?
California -- Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley (north end of the city), Northridge community.
Smart guy = neighbor hosing down yard and roof. Dumb shit = red car driver who decides to pull up in front of a pre-connected hydrant and park. .
RIP Phenix helmets.....
Fantastic video!
Omg kmg omg what do we do? Quick who here has a phone? Dial 0 ask the operator they might know! Quick get the hose! What do we do with the hose do we wave it at the flames? Adult! We need a real adult to tell us nake believe adults what to do!
The 20th person there probably doesn't need to clog up 911 with duplicate calls though, correct? Especially if the fire department is already there? Ever call 911 in such an emergency? I have, plenty of times. Early callers (like the neighbors of this house, spraying their bushes and roofs) already got help. No need to call when the LAFD is already there. Not sure if that was very clear.
Looks like it got into a cypress tree.
What happened
This exactly why you WATCH fireworks not be the neighborhood show
Yeah -- surprisingly, we didn't actually have a lot of people participating this year, but the few that did, went hard. I think this neighbor wasn't even home, it took a long time for the fire to get attention, and when I arrived, it was already burning, now out of control, for some time. That being said, those kinds of trees have burned in our area before, and it may be a hard type of tree to put out. But my impression was the home owner wasn't home and someone else's big fireworks set it off.
I do agree since they need be careful what ever could be in the way
Not everyone who lights off fireworks is this careless or senseless in my neighborhood growing up in California we set off fireworks every year on the fourth and nothing like this ever happened.
Terrible video.
man I can’t stand shit talkers! He’s getting the job done! maybe he just got bumped to operator! sounds like a bunch of bitter jealous out of work operators!
I agree, these guys did a great job in my neighborhood, and were a credit to their city agency.
It does happen to me at times as well, playing this game and ets2.
Something probably the bucket linkage is really squeaky all of the sudden
i haven't been any newer 590 Backhoes so i thought maybe CASE stopped making them but obviously they still do 😂
Who loads a dump truck like that
What crap you lot in the US speak he's doing a good steady job machine is sitting nice and steady but in uk you wouldn't use a bucket with teeth in amongst services unless you had to and perhaps he has to drive forwards to steer the front bucket past obstacles so don't judge what you can't see
Yeah, seems like people are big critics. As the person living next to this worksite, I will say they did an excellent job, always let me in and out of my driveway (even when it meant driving near a trench or heavy vehicle that was working), and were nice/friendly. And they got the job done quick. Also, I don't seem to have an excess water pressure issue anymore, so it was good they replaced the 1950s infrastructure (the reason for this project).
@@glennhighcoveexploresstuff ye if nothing was broken or they didn't scratch the pavement etc etc that's a good job done just fine

driver your water pipe is kinda screwed lmfao
Be nice....let me help🤷♂️
Sadly, these are the operators that get a city job before good and real hoe hands… set up way to high for no reason, has to pull up outriggers and turn seat around to move forward and proceed digging when really he should be lifting up the front bucket and pushing himself back using the hoe…… gosh this really bugs me.
yup ..have a 59o sl..would fire him

Sorry you don't like the shakiness, it was what it was, we didn't have a tripod and we used what cameras and camera operators we had. But glad you watched.
Gotta use steel because people are extreme idiots you know what would happen first second
Yes, the guys on this project (multiple crews) were really good about safeguarding the trenches and covering stuff up asap before any people or animals could get in there. Also nice about letting me take photos on top of the trench later (from a safe place). I was really impressed with the system they had for covering these areas, very turn-key, and you can even attach/detach with your boots when they use the loaders to move them with chains.
Very cool video!!!😊
Very very nice video!!!😊

Yeah i get this glitch too. Have you found a solution?
Only waiting... I think they secretly patch it later. It worked fine a week later.
Adding water to concrete, congratulation chief
I'm struggling with the sim too. I'll be interested to see how our trial and error methods compare to the pros who will eventually produce content for this sim.
Yeah, me too still, I can't seem to do the harbor tour and after skipping ahead to try some other stuff, doing a turn in a current is also surprisingly hard. I'll try to get the next few vids out when I can.
making a ship carrying passengers between islands and docks is definitely exciting
❤❤
awesome stuff
It's a pretty awesome game, the closest I've seen someone attempt to make a sim around just this. It's a hobby team making it, so they don't put out updates often, but the forward progress is good and I hope my clip on the channel captures the audio. It has a lot of promise.
Nice
Thanks! Sorry it got so shaky. Could have had this in 4k if I had rushed the light and gotten there with the phone instead, but wanted to be safe. Also, LAPD motor units hang around there all the time giving out tickets, so better safe than sorry. Looks like you guys got better footage up the line. My normal closer vantage point is Northridge station, hopefully some footage soon.
How come they didn’t use the jackhammer to break up the street???
A great question - so what I don't have footage of (maybe I do, I need to look) is that a few weeks ahead of time, and sometimes again same-week if they had to go back and revise things, they had a special cutting machine go up and down the exact painted parts of the trench. My impression (I'm no expert) is that by the time the backhoe gets there, it's totally compromised on the side of the part they are pushing down on. That being said, some days I did hear what sounded like jackhammering, maybe where the main is at that intersection. In fact, that part is still open right now because they still need to get it pressurized downstream for the new pipes. I'm on the new pipes already :P I have a vid coming of them doing the chlorination.

That's a GM LS swap.
Ah -- yep, another commenter (Christine) had mentioned this as well. So looks like a fairly modern (cough, 1990s, I'm a little old) engine replacement? It sent me down the rabbit hole further. Maybe a follow-up post to this where I further display my pig ignorance ;)
GM LS v8 engine-6.2,5.3, or a 4.8 liter.
Thank you! For the ignorant like me, was the manifold (is that the thing at the bottom) the giveaway? Also, what's missing from the engine in it's current config, some kind of cover, or is that thing good to go like how it is there, once the whole other cover (the thing in the back apparently was the old one and won't go over this one, per the guy I was talking to in the muted audio) goes back on?
At 0:37 I really like that Sterling boom crane truck.
Me too! And my big regret is while I did manage to get a lot of good photos of it outside my house over the months, I never really got close footage of it in action, and it is a great weathered piece of equipment with a lot of nice handy features a layman like me wouldn't know were standard features.
@@glennhighcoveexploresstuff can u please get a video of it in action or try to get video of the crane in action????
@@avontaprice-lg7ws I will try. I do at least have some photos from close up from before, I can at least make a video with those and what I can find or capture.

Thank you! Only the camerawork was mine, and unsolicited when I was taking a brief break outside during work. The LADWP folks are doing a great job, really got the road by us done quickly and our water re-hooked up to brand new water lines. Awesome job by them.
Hello sir construction company Mixer truck driver job have Me Mixer truck driver 10 year Experience I'm interested job
Ah -- I just record stuff happening around me, this is a project going on from the city I live in, I don't have anything to do with it. Also, I don't think LADWP hires oversea workers.
Must be a caltrans crew
I’m sure they love you recording them
They're very nice about it, they're in the public view all day, and this is basically my back/front yard, so I'm gonna film it and sell it as stock editorial footage later. It's pretty cool to watch anyways, so I wanted to capture it in hd. Also, now they can show their families the hard work they do, and this crew worked fast and was very efficient. Be sure to check out the longer video.
If you're doing a road repair why add water? I don't think you really have to worry about that small section setting up on you to fast.
