I'd like to correct some inaccuracies, Broken Hill is not an Iron ore mine, never has been. It was the worlds largest Silver Lead and Zinc orebody. It was discovered by one man, Charles Rasp and then 7 people from Mt Gipps Station created the B.H.P. Company. The Company then went on to develop Australia Iron and Steel industry using the wealth generated by the Broken Hill Mines. The Park you stayed at, Penrose Park was developed by the workers, the unionists of Broken Hill and in particular the Radford company. B.H.P. gave no contribution to the development of Penrose Park.
