Приєднався 16 бер 2021
Hello, welcome to my corner of the internet where I share my journey of my Japandi. As a Japanese Canadian Japandi isn't just design it's a life style. It's the way of combining elements of Japanese philosophy with the coziness that develops from living in cold and wet climate. It is about enjoying aesthetic while being mindful of its effects. It's about making the world a more understanding and welcoming place.
Hope you enjoy!
Hope you enjoy!

Japanese Wedding Tradition: San San Kudo
Переглядів 6228 місяців тому
We decided to include a Shinto wedding tradition of San San Kudo. Being in Canada Shinto priests are very uncommon, while Buddhist Japanese ministers can be found in major cities. We decided to have our friends help us conduct and relay this ceremony to our guests and grateful for having them do so. San san kudo which literally translates as ‘three-three-nine-times’. The couple each takes three...

Forgiveness: Closing

74 years ago on this day Japanese Canadians were allowed to travel freely through Canada. It represented the termination of a chapter and a beginning of the unknown. Of communities forced together, being resilient then vanishing. Throughout our short four months together and less. I am grateful for entering this shared creative space. Your kindness and camaraderie are in spirit to the neighbour...

is the video mirrored?
Good question, it is not mirrored. One wants to wear a kimono with their left side of kimono folded over to the right.
Amazing
Thanks
The best (and easiest) English language video I’ve seen yet on tying an obi. It really has been a chore for me so far. Thank you!
amazing, have you figuered it out yourself or did you get the shamisen notation from somethere?
I find shamisen is a great instrument to learn by ear. As long as the melody isn't too complex I like to figure it out.
@@japandilife i understand. Im very New to shamisen playing and had hoped to get the Notation somethere, im afraid, i really dont Match your skill by now^^
“A lot of whiskies” you say right when you show seven bottles of Bacardi in a line. 😂😂😉 Seriously though, thank you for the details.
This was the best English tutorial I found.. The first few tutorials really didn't spend enough time on the knot for me
Nonsense video.
how can I enter the lounge
At the Frankfurt airport there are several Lounges. They are apart of the cost of business class and above tickets. Depending on availability one might be able to pay for them as well.
But is there a place for my 煙管? 🤔
Wow Amazing Video 😮
Thanks Koss! Greece makes it pretty easy to make great video.
Just wanted to tell you this video is really nice :) thank you for posting it
Thank you delibirdite! That means a lot.

Good job.
Excellent (and entertaining) tutorial! 😃
Thanks! 😃 Hope it was helpful!

I've been playing my Shamisen for just over a year now, check out my amateur vids on my channel, i need feedback, as i don't have any tutors where i am
Amazing job! But I was lucky enough to see it live.
You should keep the beard
Thanks Dale, if my gigs allow me to have a beard I will be growing it out. I like what it does for my face aesthetically and practically.
Good beard
Well done! Keep going!
Easiest way to detangle hair is to brush from tips to the top.
Absolutely love the tune, (leaves from the vine) played on the Shamisen, sugoi 🤜🤛 I love Japanese traditional instruments and music 🎶
Thanks bry JapanChinaKorea! Japanese traditional instruments and other East Asian traditional instruments are SUGOI!
@@japandilife ganbattee 👍😁

Thank you for sharing🙏 Really enjoying your design of your bedroom❣️ May I ask how how you hang your Kimono? Warmest Regards, Janne
Hi Janne, I used two command strip hooks and a long piece of bamboo. ~ Japandi Life
Lovely result!
Thank you!

Thank you very much shoegaze, I made this video because when I grew my hair there was very little if not nothing on practical ways to style it. I'm glad this video was able to help you.
How old were you when you first started learning Shamisen? 三味線を習い始めたのは何歳のときですか?
I had my first lesson in July of last year, so about 9 months.
@@japandilife It's very pleasant to hear you play. I hope you keep it up!
I am an administrator / moderator of public Facebook named “ BC Japan Friendship Group”. If you like, you can become our member and post anything to do with culture of Japan - that includes music / shamisen and post it on the Facebook. The idea of this fb is to become an information hub for anythings to do with Japanese culture (BC) and make a friends with similar interested people/group in Japan. We are about 3 months old. So if you like, come and visit our fb. and see it yourself.
Thanks for the tip Miki!
Thank you ! What a brilliant example you are. #standwithukraine
Thank you JL. I'm following my heart and the example of those who have come before me.
You are so well spoken, Kevin!! Way to go!! With Love, Janette xo💕😊
Really like the simple Lines og the room. Calming. The blue color is beautiful. I would pull the rug down, so it shows more. It is a beautiful rug
Thanks Tina, the bedroom is going through changes and yes that rug will be moved. I'm planning on making an update once there is some shelving added.
Hi Kevin! Nice to see you again. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing! Congrats on the work you have done and looking forward to seeing your work in person!
Arigato Jai-san! I hope to share work with you in the not too distant future. ~ Kevin
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
nice, learning here
Just started myself, I hope I can get where you are in 2 months.
That is so kind for you to say Andrew! Shamisen is so much fun. If you have any questions feel free to connect with me. I also recommend look at Bachido. They got some great tips!
@@japandilife Thank you, I will. I learned a great many things from the Bachido forums.
@@japandilife It's been a month or so and I'm starting to get a hang of it, but playing the same song over and over again is getting a little tedious. I have looked around the internet and couldn't really find a lot of sheet music for the shamisen, so I started translating piano sheet music (which doesn't always translate very well while others like silent night translate surprisingly well to a shamisen). TLDR: Do you have any tips on where to find more sheet music for the shamisen? Thank you for taking my request into consideration, apologies if I made a mistake as English is not my native language. With kind regards.
@@andrewgrinn3435 here are some recommendation: 1. Bachido School: they have several shamisen sheet music. 2. Use simple melody lines on western sheet music. It might be because I played violin but it starting with easy tunes led to me playing more difficult ones. 3. UA-cam on slow. To learn some tunes I slowed down youtube and learned to play some. This isn't so easy but it can help. PS. What is your native language?
@@japandilife Thank you, I hadn't thought of slowing down UA-cam videos. I'll give it a shot. My native language is Flemish, what's yours?
The 'tea leaf storage jar ca. 1500s' at 1:18 min is not a RAKU item. It is stoneware from BIZEN or TAMBA, I think. The ash deposit glaze says it all.
Brava Jean! You are correct. It's Bizen. There is the gomayu/sesame seed effect from the ash glaze. Nevertheless, it's amazing to have an intact and beautiful piece from the 1500s. Thank you for catching that :)
Is it minox beard
It is all natural. Some how my beard grows this full. I'm in my 30's, when I was in my 20's it could grow this full.
@@japandilife full? u dont have any hair on moustache and front chin how is this full are u gay lol
Omggggg ! Job well done. So clean, inviting and comfy. Love the stuffed animal. Little guy stole the show. Great idea with the sushi mat ❤️
Thanks Slaylord! Just trying to provide guests with a fun welcoming experience. :)
I'm going to donate my hair this will be my second time donating my hair I'm 8 years cancer-free
Congratulations Heather! I'm glad that you are 8 years cancer-free and that you are purposeful and generous with your hair :)
Nice cousin!! This would sound dope as a sample
Love your personality. Boo was right about the navy blue ! Love the bed frame too ! ❤️
That is so sweet of you Slaylord! My Boo has some good eyes. :)
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
👏👏👏 I dont put my hair up often anymore because it's so long I get headaches. Can I just say, let's start normalizing long hair on men? It shouldn't be such a damn issue anymore 😂😂
Hey MK, I understand. Headaches are one reason why I use Kooshoo hair ties. They are thick bands and with a cotton outer layer that doesn't pull on hair, at least my thick straight hair. That being said depending on my mood and how I want to express myself I do wear my hair down as well.
Thick hair ties does made changes in headache to me also. Japandi Life- really nice styles
That's awesome Kevin! So happy for you! Happy dance!!!!
