I haven't yet watched the doc but you appear to be focusing on the wife - he was with Jasper Johns for a long time - they broke up because Rauschenberg was discovered with a male dancer - and then RR went on to other relationships with different men. He was a gay artist!

With seemingly minimal effort and sheer will Robert was able to show the average person how to express themselves in print, paint, sculpture and any medium at his disposal. All before I was even born. Fuck.

Speaking as a artist of sketch, watercolor, acrylic. Writing, short filmmaking, inventor, jazz composer ect….blah blah blah…. Lol I can certainly say after over 6 decades of life…. that the first thing I noticed about you is…. You haven’t the vaguest idea what art “CAN BE “!! Art is SUBJECTIVE…. it’ doesn’t exist to meet individual expectations. ART IS HOW YOU FEEL WHEN YOU’RE DOING IT… ….. and…. How others feel observing it….. whether it’s the BEATLES performing on stage….. or a ballet performance of the Nutcracker ……. ART ISN’T ART…… BECAUSE OF ITS DEPICTION OF REALITY. It ….. comes from an insatiable desire to express one’s inner self!!!! It touches on the spiritual, psychological, philosophical, physiological…….. only those attuned to such…. can “discern and gain”from the sublime yet acute nuances therein. As we gain experience with age and discernment… we learn….. NEVER….. to voice what art HASN’T done for YOU……. and thus FALSELY CONCLUDE… art must NOT BE providing modes of intellectual interpretation, solace, or healing for others either. As for BRODY ( who was, in his own way, agreeing with you……) was true in saying that the future has come where machines can imitate MAN…… BUT NEVER WILL MACHINES DUPLICATE OUR “SOULS”…. Mankind will paint landscapes, and bowls of fruit…… and even haystacks ( like Van Gogh) was famous for…..sold for : 40 million at auction! Monet’s Haystack painting sold for a record $110 million at auction!!! Sure….. antiquity has a lot to do with this rare gem’s pricing…. But….. Monet, Van Gogh… and NO bonafide artist does what they do for money!!! As I said at the beginning, the list of creative things I do….. are not hobbies….. they are an EXPRESSION, ……. and …. a contribution to the planet…… however small the offering. My debut jazz album will hopefully be coming out… uummm… probably around spring of 2025? I could care less about album sales!!…… it’s…. An OFFERING….. from my soul….. to others. Of course, if I could recoup the cost for getting 25 professionals in the studio….. I would be pleased….. lol By the way….. I adore Sean Connery ….. a consummate artist!……. ……. But….. why not put your REAL FACE…. as a thumbnail ???…… Your image……. Is ……. A LOVELY EXPRESSION… …………… of you sir.🕯 Have a great spring ‼️ 🎼RAIN AGAIN 🎼

He did some very sloppy work at times and beat the hell out of his women then painted them while they cried. Yes, some of his artwork was good but not all of it. There is other artwork I like much better.

For the most part, I agree, but he did produce some spectacular work as well, and if we have to discuss 20th Century art, there is no debating it without Picasso as the most prolific artist of this period with his 33-volume catalog raisonne best DR

@@davidremsingfinearts6852 I agree. Some of his work has me spellbound. Some of it disgusts me. Depending on his fluctuating dark moods he made his women look ghastly. He was a narcissist so he kept them feeling high and low. An emotional roller coaster. One needs to study narcissism and you will find they all follow a påttern as if they all studied the same textbook. It’s as if they all attended the devils elementary school and were then turned out in the world to do their ghastly deed. To utterly destroy women and in turn women to destroy men. Being a famous artist does not give him a ticket to ride. Even as a little girl I knew something was off. My Art teacher told me, ‘but that is art Carole’ I was viewing, ‘the crying women’ at the time. Nothing gives him or others to hurt a human body or mind. Nothing excuses him.
