What’s the purpose of these exercises?
Scales and modes are not compatible. Stop confusing scale degree alterations with the Ancient Greek modes. This is ridiculous. So stupid and confusing g for beginners.
The purpose of these exercises is to train your ear and agility with tones. The focus is on hearing from a single root note, rather than explaining the theory in detail. The goal is to apply this skill to real-life situations, beyond just theoretical knowledge.
a bit harsh.
@@psychonaut689 it’s harsh on the beginners to open up the ill described/defined can of worms system of modes.…go read some of the comments (or many of them as I have, and not just from this video) and you’ll see what I mean. It’s hard enough to convince people to learn theory without this absurd retro adoption of a system that was dropped due to it’s deficiencies 400 years ago. I know more theory than most anyone I’ve ever met or played with and the system of keys is far superior and adding (poorly explained and even more poorly demonstrated/defined) the system of modes overlayed with the (already so confusing to newbies) system of keys is so often the bale of straw that squashed the camel flat. All the modes are defined as/in chromatic/ tonal variations on the four standard scales. Much easier to learn once you know about 1 semester of college theory. No one needs any more to add variety and contrast to their music. Micro intervals would be so much more useful to talk about, and I’m not saying that is part of the system of modes…it was against the rules since Pythagoras defined mathematically the diatonic major scale.
@@5400bowen It's not a beginner's exercise is it? I found it useful. If it's not for you there are plenty of other videos.
@@psychonaut689 fine, and don’t read all the comments by intermediate and advanced players that are just as confused. You may think it’s useful, but that just shows your lack of understanding of the differences between the system of modes and the system of keys. My reference to beginners is because they are the most likely to give up on all musical study because of this poor strategy to teach. I’ve seen it many times…and then I explain it and universally hear “thanx! No one else has ever been able to help me understand that!” And not just in music. And I’ll watch and comment on anything I please. And if I don’t like something, I’ll say so, with or without your royal permission. Do you understand the term scale degree variations?
Well played! May I know what guitar is this? Thanks!
Thank you, Grote guitar brand. I set the action to high for practicing various finger warming exercises.
don't lift anything higher than you have to
I watched the whole thing. Now I'm stoned.
Merci pour tous ces exercices (débutant intermédiaire),j ‘apprécie vraiment !!!!

Super cool Love the notation with the times and makes it easier. I read both tab and notation. Thanks for the video.👍👍😁🎸🎼🎵🎶🎸
Thank you. In the future, I have a plan to do a scale and chord exercises and others may take a moment. Add one by one
