The title of the video is a little misleading. It's my Spanish practice in VR that I'm sharing 🤣 I'd love to go to Carnival in Tenerife. I have been to the Rio one twice and it's amazing. Notting Hill Carnival is also a lot of fun and we have a VR experience about that.

¿qué pasó?

As explained to Miguel, we are not teaching Catalan (although we do have a Valenciano experience of Las Fallas) but we are teaching Castellano Spanish. Girona is the official spelling of the town but it is still called Gerona in Castellano (es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerona) - this was a debate between our team BTW that drove everyone a little crazy. We went back and forth on the spelling of Girona/Gerona. This tour does not talk about the Catalan language or independence, but it is mentioned in other experiences (Barcelona where I filmed an independence march). We do try and keep this educational app politically neutral though. I do understand how passionate one can be about their politics (I am myself) but this is an educational app, not a political statement. Your point about mispronunciations is valid though and we will try and improve this. Thanks for raising it. Do you have a reliable source for information on pronunciation of Catalan places? We don't teach Gallego, Valenciano, Catalan, Basque, or any other regional language. I would love to teach these languages TBH but we are a small start-up, doing our best. As a Brit, I love Spain, living there for over 3 years, and love the distinct cultures and languages of the different regions. I am doing my best to respect your cultures. That being said, the Trips to Spain in Dynamic Languages are about learning "Spanish" (castellano) so we've had to compromise on certain things. Feliz navidad y bon nadal!

What mistakes are there? We spelled everything in Castellano not in Catalan. We have a Spanish lady from Valencia reviewing the spelling, which isn't too far from Catalonia. 😅

@@dynamiclanguages Sorry I meant pronounce. Letters like o, e and x for example are pronounced very differently in Catalan and it can be quite difficult for a non native to pronounce certain words correctly. But this is just an opinion/preference of mine, as in I would prefer to learn the pronunciation of Kilkenny from an Irish person rather than from a Scottish person.

​@@miguelforteza3134 That's fair. Our Trips to Britain are narrated by people from the region. In Spain, we decided to go with a more neutral accent. Mainly because this was easier to produce but also the different regional accents are very difficult for Spanish speakers. I struggle with the Seville accent for example. Thanks for letting us know

Thanks for the awesome reply. I'm glad you thought the experience was executed well. We've put a lot of time and energy into creating this content, as you can imagine as a content creator yourself. I understand the price point is not right for you and that is valuable feedback. We had a one-off payment for the Spanish content (our first project) and the issue arises that the costs are reoccurring for us, so we have to run a subscription model, or the business goes kaput. In an ideal world, we would have a free ad-model as well but right now, we need funds to grow the app and produce more content. We are not prioritising an ad-heavy app with all the complexity that entails (and the focus ads would take away from the student's learning). Most students do 2-4 lessons a week so the price of an individual lesson is incredibly low compared with in-person or online tutors. Not to mention all the great travel and culture exploration content we have that can be done alongside the lessons.
