One little tip to make your switch more effective after reaching back to the leg. If you hip heist( getting your butt off the mat) that will drive your guys, shoulder and head down in the Mat for an easy go around behind.

If you go flat on your stomach, that’s bad training for self-defense. A jujitsu guy would take you out in three seconds with a choke.

At the most basic what you are actually trying to do is put your opponent's shoulder to the mat.

Tip for non Wrestlers, always think of a good old kick to the nut Sack as a first choice option. Learning Wrestling is hard and takes time. Soccer kick to the nuts and he snaps himself to the Ground.

I used to set this up 2 ways I would either go hand on the chin and readjust when I went down or if you have long enough arms you can go deep and instead of grabbing the chin you grab the tricep and it kinda cuts the clearing step out but either works or at least for me it did

coach, can you perform a duck under towards the opponent's right arm that you've trapped? also, is there any concern on the position of your neck @1:43? i'm afraid of potentially getting stuck or having my opponent do a neck crank on me.

I woukld be very careful trying to hit a peak out on an underhook. You can easily get thrown to your back. peak Out work better on overhooks or tricept ties.

    • @astrom3661

Depends if they mess up or not like he explained first, if they do mess up you would put both hands on the back of their knee, ram your head into their side, and lift them up, chop one leg. If they don’t mess up and they’re already in cover position, one knee up, elbow the hand on your arm, grab the fingers of their other hand, and go to staggered stance, then turn around and get in stance, sorry if that’s complicated in text.

I am looking at defending and escaping the cradle as a BJJ practitioner in case I go against a Catch Wrestling who moves from the pin to the spine lock. I definitely prefer not giving my back in those circumstances not just due to the choke, but strikes and the neck crank from there.
