Homily for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Year C, 2025.
Homily for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Year C (2025)
Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, marking the conclusion of the Christmas season and the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry. Through His baptism in the Jordan River, Jesus reveals the true face of the Father-a face of mercy, love, and justice.
In this homily, we reflect on:
• The divine revelation at Jesus’ baptism: the manifestation of the Holy Trinity.
• Jesus’ identification with humanity through baptism, though He is sinless.
• How His baptism calls us to rediscover God’s love and renew our own baptismal promises.
• Our mission to be witnesses of God’s love, healing, and truth in a world longing for meaning and connection.
As we take down the Christmas decorations, let us hold onto the grace of the season, remembering that God’s love remains with us in every moment. May this celebration inspire us to embrace our calling with courage and faith, following Jesus as He leads us to the Father.
🙏 Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to see the Father’s love in You. May we, like You, embrace our mission with courage and faith, bringing light to a world in need. Amen.
📖 Readings:
• Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11
• Psalm 104:1b-2, 3-4, 24-25, 27+28, 29-30 (R.1a)
• Titus 2:11-14; 3:4-7
• Luke 3:15-16, 21-22

Through thei...
