A great tip is to clean up as many. Easy Islands as you can to go for the special rewards, extra squads and coins to upgrade. Then back track to the big difficult islands.

Actually surefooted is my favourite offensive trait on pikes! Place pikes on the square a boat will land and they can kill everyone on board when they arrive. This depends on the type of unit and the amount, but you'd be surprised how effective it is. This is like creating your own chokepoints and makes pikes really good even on flat terrain. It takes some gameknowledge to know which unit sizes they can take on and at which level. There is a lot you can do with this combo :)

Loved xcom EU, hate xcom2 put 16 hours into it, 16 hours of my life wasted. Stuff like run up to an alien hiding behind a gas station with a ranger slash attack and the whole thing blow up. Totally lame mechanics. Half the missions on timer force you to rush things, relying on dumb luck over a careful approach. Idd rather replay xcom 1 than install this game again.

I wish their was a part 2 to this video. I really enjoyed your insight. I got through the entire campaign of Enemy Unknown and Within, but XCOM2 I ended up giving up. The difficulty ramped up to fast. XCOM is my all time favorite game. Going to give it another try. Thanks for the video.

Now that I see this video, have you ever played Warhammer 40: Mechanicus? It's an XCOM style game too.

Tip 1 Throw grenade Tip 2 Fire rockets Tip 3 Throw another grenade. These games are the most boring fucking strategy games around. There is absolutely no skill to spamming grenades at the enemy because Firaxis made the game so god dam fucking awful.

A specialist with a skulljack/skullmine not only becomes better at hacking but bypasses armor and stasis if successful. 70% flat hit chance but also comes with an extra of more goodies on a hacker type. Don't sleep on flashbangs, smoke grenades, or just incremental bonuses from faction orders or world bonuses (increasing the effects of a PCS or equipment is tied to a continent bonus or a skirmisher order.) Given how loaded the dice are in XCOM 2 (and how it blatantly always knows where your stealth units are when within one blue move of them) consider XCOM Enemy Unknown/Within tips and tricks. This video does not prepare or adapt people on a tactical layer in and out of the missions between digging out your avenger and understanding the elevated threat from month to month. Perhaps my time in Long War between the two games has affected that capacity as the base game of both. (XCOM 1 will still beat you like an alcoholic step dad well beyond classic and impossible will be a trail of tears.)

I have played this game for so many hours. I have watched tips and playthroughs. Yet my results are not much different than when I first started. What I cant stand is the "RNG". You know when you have an 85+ chance to hit and miss and then you adjust and improve the aim and still miss. I know a 15% chance to miss is likely, but a 15% x10% chance? And the mission timer ensures that you will have to take these shots. And the better you do, the more unfair the game will get - literally adding extra reinforcements. You have to be a masochist to play this game. The best way to win is to quit and go spend time with your friends and family.

I love this game and wish it as more for replay value(even though I replay it frequently). My suggestions are of course just ideas that the designers have maybe already considered. Having a trait that allows to hold two items with a disadvantage of weakness and/or being considerably slow named packrat(maybe). Having an item that very temporarily makes your guys almost invincible with a stun effect given to your troops that shrugged off previous damage. (I don't know what this could be maybe like a mushroom 🍄). Another item idea would be excalibur, making your commander always in front of their troops. Being in the frontline helps protect the troops but being more at risk of falling behind enemy lines.

I keep seeing alot of Xcom 2 Lwotc videos where people have soldiers who have alot of holes in their skills, ie 4:19 on the reaper hes showing for example. why is that?

Hey man, just finished this series. Great work, great commentary, straight to the point, no screaming, no bs, just pure gameplay with a chill voiceover. Keep it up!

If its the Vanilla XCOM 2, I'd go for 1 Ranger, 2 Grenadier, 1 Sharpshooter, 1 Specialist and 1 Psi-Ops. Half the time, will switch up to have 2 Specialist and 1 Grenadier instead. The Ranger, I focus on the Assault skills, along putting them as the team's Recon. Sharpshooter, I somewhat gave more focus on pistol skils, but left some of the sniper skills like Longwatch and Death from Above. For the case of Grenadier, I'd put it your way as well with one is the single-focus dealer, and another is the Grenadier/ Ambusher. I did mentioned I put 2 specialist in 1 team sometimes, replacing any of the grenadier. For Specialist, I have 2 roles which are obviously the Hacker and the Medic. Psi-Ops, no need to mention much as you can try get all skills in one go. If we include the DLC such as Alien Hunter and the SHIV, I did replace the Grenadier with it to be the other Single target dealer. For the case of WOTC, is a different story. Most of the time, I try to put each faction in one team. Although, I did change sometimes for certain mission structure. One example is the facility missions, where you must bring the Reaper all the time for a simple stealth plant. Either way, Reaper is definitely the Go-to faction for Long Stealth Run. Also, every time in a mission with Concealment, bring both Reaper and the Grenadier as they work well together as Ambusher. Plant the Claymore in One Pod of enemies, and drop a Grenade to do double amount of Damage. Most important would be it is your choice of how you build your team for missions. Lots of way can be done for a good team build in both Vanilla and WOTC expansion.

The thing with the stick as you call it, was not that uncommon. Some functions such as the lictores carried around assorted attributes; they sort of came with the job. For the lictores it was the fasces for instance.

Rulers also dont get a move if you give the overwatch order. So put all but one soldiers on overwatch and have the last one attack the ruler. When the ruler makes its move, all other soldiers will shoot without triggering any further ruler actions.

When you have more time, elite archers are definitley the way to go, but they take so much time to build up, pikes are also great, I would have 2 elite archers, 1-2 elite pikes, and 1 elite infantry for my Ideal loadout

For my run, the first 2 squads i had was collector + ring and Sure-footed + warhorn

Ring of command and heavy weapon archers are by far one of the most overpowered combos I've ever discovered
