Another interesting story. The man introducing the story reminds me of an Alfred Hitchcock series on TV back in the day.
Hi Donna! Glad you liked the program. Not sure I'll continue them, but it's been fun! Thanks for dropping by!!! Take care. God bless.
Thanks for Orson Wells...
Beautiful tale of serendipity.
...and I have seen "Neptune's Daughter"!
I can hear this music underneath an early romantic film. Enjoyed Jack's explanation of Toni's 3-part way of composing.
Hey, thanks for the comment, Darlene!!! He's trying sooo hard to get Toni's music heard ... cataloguing hundreds of her songs that have never been recorded, etc. Wish I could help more. And thanks again for taking the time to comment!
What an interesting story. Who knew children playing helped the medical field. And without the driver of the carriage laughing Rene would not have gotten the idea to take the first step to create the stethoscope. I just love these insightful stories. Thanks for sharing. God Bless
I love your positive notes, Donna! I was wondering if anyone really does enjoy them. I do, but I'm not sure everyone shares my taste in history and unusual stories. Your notes always make my day! God bless!
It was good to see the face of this magnificent woman on the cover of her album. Writing and playing music even in her 70s...wow. The music is beautiful!! Thanks for sharing the story of Toni. Have a blessed week.
Thanks, Donna. I hope people enjoy Toni's incredible talent. Did you have a chance to listen to her grandson Jack tell her story? God bless!
@@EstherLuttrellsSundayStories - Yes, I did listen to Toni's grandson Jack's interview. It was very interesting. When you said Jack kept the music in the bathroom, I was afraid it was damaged but nope it survived. I left a comment on the video The Incredible Life of Toni. Maybe you missed it or my computer didn't forward it ~ I'm having computer problems and it's not in the budget to buy a new one. Thanks for keeping in touch.
Toni wrote this wonderful music, and much much more music too, back when everyone told her that she'd never make it as a songwriter - because she's female! She showed them! Her music has been hidden for years, but here it is now, thanks to Jack Allen who holds the rights (Toni was his grandmother). You might want to listen to the conversation I had with Jack about his amazing grandparent (The Incredible Life of Toni Beaulieu is the name of the podcast). Enjoy! Let me know if you love her music as much as I do and I'll post more of it. The melody that begins the program was written by Toni when she was 70. Nothing could stop that woman!
What a lovely interview with Toni's grandson.
Thanks, Donna!
Wow. There were a lot of twists in this story. A very interesting story!! TFS
I loved the story ... but the old radio classics don't seem to be all that popular on this channel. Think I should continue posting them anyway, Donna?
@@EstherLuttrellsSundayStories - Sorry Esther, I have been dog sitting my brothers dogs therefore late in answering your question. Yes, if it's not to much trouble please continue with the old radio classics. I enjoy them. Have a blessed week. TFS
Let's share Toni's incredible music, want to?
Aren't curious/brilliant minds and perseverance amazing? Now we can board a plane and fly many miles all due to those brilliant men Otto Leliethal and the Wright brothers. TFS. God Bless
I'm always amazed by the stories behind the stories. Who ever heard of Otto Leliethal? And yet we all know who the Wright Brothers are. Thanks for still dropping for stories on my channel, Donna! God bless!
Oh, Esther, I was blessed by this wonderful song. Thanks for taking me to church today. God Bless.
Goodness, I'm embarrassed that I didn't see this comment until now. You've encouraged me to add more hymns! God bless!!
Rainbow's story although tragic was sad and also full of love. Rainbow's girlfriend's songs were full of love. The ending was beautiful ~ every now and then Rainbow will be remembered. TFS
Hi, Donna. Thanks for your note. I'm glad you like the music. Didn't Jeff do an incredible job of telling the story, though? There was another podcast that featured a conversation he and I had after taping the story. Unfortunately, it seems to have gotten lost in the cyber great unknown. Jeff died right after we did this program, but I'll always treasure him calling me when he heard it on UA-cam and saying, "I've been a professional voice over actor my entire adult life, but I've never been more proud of a production." That remark from Jeff meant the world ... right up there with your comment. Take care and God bless!
@@EstherLuttrellsSundayStories - So sad to hear of Jeff's passing. I would have loved to hear the other interview. Jeff had so many things to say. I noticed you posted another video. Off to view it now. Thanks for your feedback and God Bless you also.
I enjoyed the story makes you not be so quick to judge people.. On both sides..
There does always seem to be a story behind everybody's story. Thanks for dropping and thanks for taking time to comment. God bless, Linda!
Oh, Esther, what a beautiful love story...you showing love and kindness to Tommy and a special thought to get him a sheriff's badge to make him feel special ~ that's love. Your Grandma Dandy keeping all those Valentine cards and the special gift of the Dinah Shore record...surely sent by someone who loved your Grandma Dandy very much. Thanks for sharing and filling my heart with tenderness and sweetness. Have a blessed day.
Donna, you're so sweet and thoughtful to send a note, let alone one so beautiful. Thank you! And God bless!
This has always been one of my favorite movies.
Interesting sad story.
Donna, you're just precious. I'm trying, right now, to decide if I should continue. You give me great heart! Love and blessings!
@@EstherLuttrellsSundayStories - Oh, please continue with the Classic Radio Theater. The stories are wonderful and done so well that one can picture in their mind the scenes and characters.
Oh, I am enjoying the Class Radio Theater. I was hanging on to every word and could picture Angela Lansbury in every episode of the story. I really thought she didn't get hurt by the acid but wondered why the darkness. Angela was so convincing. So sad she did get injured and scared. What a great story. TFS Oh, and I really liked Angela in "Murder She Wrote". One of my favorite TV shows.
I really enjoyed The Mona Lisa Case. Your comments of the memories of your childhood was precious. I also remember the gas stations ( I remember them being called ~ filling stations ) where a service man came to pump your gas and washed the windshield. Oh, those memories.
Loved hearing Kate Smith sing God Bless America. I sang along and tears started to swell up and my heart was bursting with pride...that's what a great singer Kate was, bringing out the patriotic feeling of the love for America.
Wasn't she amazing? I heard that and just had to share it with you. Her high notes are so pure . So glad you enjoyed it, Donna. God bless!
Loved this video. So many memories for me. I also brought out the ironing board and listened to the radio which was on the top of the refrigerator while ironing my work clothes listening to Pastor John MacArthur every morning before work. I like doing my daily work clothes so I could get my morning church service. I loved it. Thanks for bring back that memory.
You're too wonderful, Donna!
What may be mistaken as bad sound at the very beginning is actually sound effects for rain, so don't let it keep you from listening to this excellent mystery. The "rain" doesn't last all that long. Judy Garland fans will surely love this even though she doesn't sing in it. I think her charm is that she sounds so natural. We believe every word out of her mouth. Please let me know if you enjoy these old radio shows. I prowl the Internet trying to find stories with great sound and solid stories that I think you might get a kick out of. Let me know if you'd like to hear comedy. I listen to Bob Hope, Fibber McGee and Molly, Red Skelton, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, but it just seems to me that the punch lines aren't funny anymore. What are your thoughts? Is there a special series you'd like to hear? God bless!!
Enjoyed this so much...❤
So glad to hear that, Debby! Thanks, and God bless!!
The murder story was fabricated.
She was not murdered. She died by her own hand.
Hi and thanks for your note. I passed it along to Jack and asked him to reply. I've known Jack for more than 30 years and have never known him to be one to exaggerate. As I understand it, he was with the coroner (actually the assistant coroner at the time) when he got the call to go to MM's home, her "housekeeper" had discovered her body. Several hours elapsed between the time they arrived and the time the death was announced. I don't want to paraphrase Jack because I'm sure to get the details wrong, but I've heard the story many times and it appears to be the truth, she really was murdered. But don't take my word, goodness no. As I say, I wasn't there. I do hope Jack replies and that he can explain it better. God bless.
so well done. You speak with such clarity and are so informative.
That's so thoughtful of you to take the time to drop us a note. I'll let Jack know! He'll be as grateful as I am. You take care, Gregory. God bless!
Jack just told me that he has a few copies of his beautiful coffee table book, Marilyn by Moonlight, left. It's absolutely lovely. He had access to notes and letters Marilyn wrote to friends before she became famous and also lots of candid photos of her before and after her rise to fame. If you'd like to order direct from him, I know he'd be thrilled to sign a copy for you. If you know anyone who loves movies, or MM in particular, this would be a GREAT gift. Or keep it yourself and show it off on your coffee table. Let me know if you'd like his email address and I'll be glad to pass it along. He doesn't know I'm writing you this note, but I do know he'd love for you to have the last of the copies he still has on hand. It's no longer available on Amazon.
I am very interested in a copy of MARILYN BY MOONLIGHT. Is Jack Allen on Facebook?
Thank you!
Thank YOU for letting me share my grandma's attic with you! God bless, Kathleen!
Please to meet you, Esther! Thank you for a great story;💐
And THANK YOU, William, for taking the time to drop me a note. Much appreciated! Take care!
I keep being asked if this is a true story. Oh please. Do I really seem that gullible? Of course it's ... not true. Of course...
I know I'm not Rod McKuen, but oh my goodness... the hours spent listening to his beautiful words ... I was in love once ... a very long time ago and I think that those precious feelings never really die... I hope my own words will open the door to your own warm and special memories. God bless!
I got so involved in sharing the Red Foley story that I completely forgot to tell you the point of the program: Exactly one year from the day I stood at my kitchen sink, buried in soap suds and wishing I had a TV talk show, I had my own TV talk show on a network affiliate in the Midwest. Like I say, a goal is just a dream kicked in the rear and put into action. God bless, everybody!
Just heard this one. How beautiful!!!
That's so sweet of you to listen and even sweeter to drop me a note. To hear from The Master of Communication is an honor indeed! The next Grandma's Attic has a mention of you, which I hope you approve of! God bless, dear Barry.
My friend, Jack Allen, is recognized as a genuine Hollywood historian and his stories are fascinating. I've known Jack, going way back to when I was a freelance writer for the group he worked for, responsible for bringing some of the best mini series to television. If anybody knows the story-behind-the-story it's Jack. Sure hope you enjoy being at my Sunday dinner table, listening to folks share tales of all kinds. God bless!
What a wonderful story but so sad
Circumstances around Red Foley's death were too ironic not to share with you, but mainly I hope you enjoyed his music. I love what he said at the end of the song. When I thought to tell these stories, the point was that exactly one year from the day I stood at my kitchen sink, buried in soap suds, I was on a national network affiliate with my own TV talk show. Talk about irony. I got so caught up in other things that I completely forgot to tell you the point of the program! Thanks so much for coming up in Grandma's Attic with me, Pamela! God bless!
This story''s been on the channel for a while now and I'm so happy to see that listeners are sharing the link with friends because the views grow almost daily. You're all precious for sitting around with me, letting me tell you about Grandma's attic ... I hope my stories stir up your own memories and that your life is blessed. Take care of yourself.
❤ thank you
Thank YOU for the note!! It's much appreciated. Glad you liked the story!
Love this, thank you 👍
Thank YOU! And thanks for the note!! God bless!
No coincidence that people were rarely over weight back in the day. Fast food gained popularity since 1955- and processed fast food super size servings began in the mid 1990’s. Sad.
That picture just jumped out at me. Makes you stop and think, doesn't it? Thanks for coming by! Thanks, too, for leaving a comment. Really appreciate you!! God bless.
❤❤❤😊
Thank you, Stephanie! God bless!
Awesome! I would like to see chapter numbers or something similar in the title to know where I’m at in the stories. Thank you. Enjoyed this very much.
Hi Harley ... gosh, I don't have chapter numbers because I'm sitting at a mic, at my desk, just chatting away ... it's not scripted. Just remembering ... I sure thank you for taking a listen! Hope you come back often. God bless!!
I too love the old radio shows like the shadow
I had so much fun finding old radio shows for you (and me) to enjoy, that I started a new series - Classic Radio 'theater. I look for ones that have good sound and stories that hold up for today. In a few minutes I'm going to be putting A Thing of Beauty on the new site ... it stars Angela Lansbury and I'll be talking about things people might not know about the wonderful actress. A lot of people only associate her name with that of Jessica (JB) Fletcher on Murder, She Wrote. Hope to see you on Classic Radio Theater! And to seeing you back here as well. God bless!!!
This is a wonderful channel, don't stop please. Your memories are sweet and special.
Gosh, Tammie, thank you so much. I do wonder if I'm not silly to think anyone really cares about memories ... but I love to share the stories. God bless you!!!
What wonderful stories. Thank you for sharing.
Bless your heart! Thank YOU for listening, and for leaving a comment. Hope you come back and consider yourself family now! Have a great day! You surely brightened mine.
Oh my, what a dredful story. I did enjoy listening. And as always I think of myself listening to our antique radio. TFS
It is a dreadful story, but performed so well I couldn't resist sharing it. The irony is that the wonderful actor, Joseph Cotton, had a beautiful voice, yet he died of cancer of the throat. His voice box had to be removed and I found that especially tragic. All the time I lived and worked in the film industry, I never heard an unkind word about him. People who worked with him spoke of him as a kind person who lived out of the limelight. Thanks for the note, Donna! Take care!
We lost our precious friend, Jack, a few days ago. I can't hear his voice and believe it's silenced. God hold him dearly in His arms, I pray.
Oh, I do so love your channel. Hearing the stories of your meetings all the people I remember. Wasn't that clever of Bo Derek? After seeing her in movies I would have thought her to be a primadonna...nope just a wise and clever girl. Thanks for sharing that tidbit. I enjoyed the radio mystery story. As your dear friend Jack Diamond said...it took me on " the wings of imagination". Sorry for your loss of Jack. Take care, Esther. TFS
Hi Donna! Thanks for taking a listen. I appreciate that more than I can tall you. I wondered if it would sound like I'm trying to impress people, dropping names and all ... but I really do want to let people know the good things I learned about them. I was Production Coordinator on CHiPs and am eager to tell Erik Estrada stories that will surprise you - and warm your heart. Your note gave me encouragement, dear Donna. I started a new series that will be on the channel on Wednesdays, it's called Classic Radio Theater ... Academy Award winning movies broadcast on the radio with the stars of the films. The first one you'll hear is Shadow of a Doubt starring Joseph Cotton. Sure hope people like it. Let me know your thoughts? God bless!!
@@EstherLuttrellsSundayStories - I don't think you are name-dropping. These are your life stories and they are so interesting and enlighten us about the true and real personalities of those we all watched and enjoyed on TV and in movies. Oh my, would love to hear stories about Erik Estrada. Wasn't he a looker...be still my heart. Have a blessed evening.
@@EstherLuttrellsSundayStories - I do so like listening to the radio stories...they bring back so many memories. We listened to an old antique radio ( the one with the curved top...it was beautiful ) when I was young. It was down in the basement and I listened to it while washing clothes in a ringer washer... those were the days. I can still smell the detergent water...haha. In the winter we hung the laundry on clotheslines my dad put up. So see, You are bringing joy to my heart when you do the radio stories. I will be looking forward to Wednesdays.
The old-time radio show ends at 49:21, if you want to skip on over to comments on Bing Crosby, his daughter Mary, Bo Derek and our farewell to Sunday Stories announcer and dear friend, Jack Diamond. He believed so much in what this channel is attempting to do - bring you good memories and pleasant entertainment. Thanks for listening! God bless!
I hope the ending, following the Richard Diamond Detective story, isn't too preachy, but I felt I had to add it. I wish every child today could know what it was like to be a part of our country in the times I'm talking about, and to share those times with parents who devote their life to simply being together on a great adventure. Thanks for listening! God bless.
