Aldehyde and ketone । एल्डिहाइड और कीटोन। Class-12, Neet and jee
In video we discussed about the reaction of aldehyde and ketone with hypohalites.
Reaction with hypohalites is a kind of oxidation reaction.
The aldehyde and ketone and alcohol in which atleast one methyl group attached with either carbonyl carbon or functional group carbon undergo reaction with hypohalites.
Such aldehyde and ketone and alcohol oxidises into Carboxylic acid and form haloform.
Iodoform having yellow colour is suitable reagent for examination of such aldehyde and ketone.
The aldehyde which do not have alpha hydrogen undergoes cannizzaro reaction.
The aldehyde which do not have alpha hydrogen when treated with conc strong base undergoes self oxidation and reduction reaction to form carboxylic acid and alcohol.
Such type of reaction is known as disproportionate reaction.

In video we discussed about the reduction of aldehyde and ketone . Aldehyde and ketone are reduced by lo lithium aluminium hydride and sodium boro hydride into primary and secondary alcohol respectively. Sodium boro hydride is a selective reducing agent which reduces only aldehyde and ketone and not ester , carboxylic acid and amide. The aldehyde and ketone which have alpha hydrogen with itself...
GOC - Optical Isomerism । Class-11 । Neet and jee

In video we discussed about optical isomerism. Enantiomers are the compounds which are mirror images of each other and non superimposable. Enantiomers have similar physical properties except rotation of plane polarized light. Enantiomers have same chemical properties. Diastereomers are neither mirror images of each other nor superimpolable. Diastereomers have different physical properties and s...

In video we discussed about the nucleophilic addition reaction of aldehyde and ketone. Aldehyde and ketone react with hydrazine and derivatives of ammonia to form inmine and respective products. Aldehyde and ketone give addition reaction with alkyl hydrazine, 2'4- dinitro phenyl hydrazine and semicarbazide. Aldehyde and ketone on reduction gives alkane and alcohol. Aldehyde and ketone form alka...

In video we discussed about the introduction of aldehyde ketone and Carboxylic acid. Aldehyde and ketone are prepared by ozonolysis of alkene. Nature of product is based on nature of alkene. Aldehyde are also prepared by the reaction of alkyne with sulphuric acid and mercuric sulphate. Simplest alkyne ( ethyne) form aldehyde and rest alkyne form ketone. Aldehyde and ketone also formed by cataly...

In video we discussed about the optical isomerism. When any compound rotate plane polarized light is known as optically active compound and the compound which do not rotate plane polarized light is known as optically inactive compounds. Compound whose mirror images are superimpolable act as optically inactive compounds and whose mirror images are not superimpolable act as optically active compo...

In video we discussed about the geometrical isomerism. Geometrical isomerism arises along the restrictions of rotation. Geometrical isomerism arises in alkene and cyclic organic compounds. There two types of geometrical Isomerism 1. Cis and 2. Trans When similar groups attached to carbon of one side of double bond is known as cis isomers whereas similar groups attached to carbon atom either sid...

In video we discussed about the depression in freezing point. Freezing point is defined as the temperature on which vapour of solution becomes equal to the vapour pressure of solid. As freezing point is a colligative Properties it is depend on the number of solute particles in solution. A solution having non volatile solute in itself, freezes at the lower boiling point as compared to the boilin...
