Exeter Marathon May 2022 A VM65-69 runner's view
Переглядів 1472 роки тому
Exeter, Devon. Sunday 15th May 2022, Marathon day! I found the second half of the run tough. Dehydration is the only reasonable explanation - heavy legged, headache etc. The course itself was flat. Traffic free as advertised. However some of the paths followed on the 2 lap course were narrow and - as is their pleasure - the good burghers of Exeter were out with children, pushchairs, dogs and bi...

A drizzly but not cold Sunday starting in Sturminster Newton, Dorset. Based at a school with plenty of parking.

6th time of running for me. A little different this year. Normally a trail shoe required however changes to route - temporary? - meant a road shoe would have been fine.

The Stickler. A long standing tough 10 mile off-road run. This October 2021 edition was particularly wet and sticky.
The Weymouth 10 miler. October 2021. A very brief runner's eye view.

A suitably breezy but dry Weymouth. Perfect for the 60th anniversary of this race. Did I mention I was first in the VM60 age category? It seems I just have 🤠!
I've run over 100 marathons.... but 2021 was my first London Marathon...

I'm 64. Much to my surprise I've run 100ish marathons plenty of other distances. I haven't been too keen on running London - London, all those people - everything presses buttons that I don't want pressed. However I have a gfa so I thought I would have more regrets not running than running...

Pre run...the promotional video was played on the big screen. It makes me quite emotional! I was first in my age category, thanks for asking! Hot day, same Sunday as London Marathon.

I videoed the enthusiastic folk of Salford on the run-in, I never thought I would be pleased to see Old Trafford stadium.

Character building weekend for me. Including 3hrs 50min time, not 3hrs 15mins that I was hoping for.

Alan Partridge - Sports reporter, 1994 Part 2 of 2
A bird flew into my house today. Something small and dark. Its beating wings were like shadows passing over my soul. I will never forget it. Also the bird died
Nice video. Gives a good sense of what it's like to run this marathon. Great finishing time also. Sub 4 hour marathons are a distant memory for me.
This was the best era of Alan Partridge. Everything else that followed was absolute shite, including Alpha Papa.
Lol the guy possing at 03:01 😅😅
I love the 'soccer meter' ......it's not written on that side.....it should be but its blummin not !
Are you really 33 years old?!? Brilliant
Yes. I love the way the notion that the *small people* on the back of a horse are anything other than children comes with the same revelationary effect as Jesus revealing himself to Saul! 😁
Platitude Queen, well known for her humour
this video is from 2008, the day today is from 1994, its longer from now to this video, than it was from this video than this show, unbeliavble.
Well done, an important video in today's world of sports
JOIN ME.
Trust me, I'm a stomach 😂😂😂😂😂
Tommy Saxondale > Alan Partridge
The utter randomness of the horses names never stops giving😂😂😂
Thank you for uploading these. Absolute perfection.
Gawd bless ya!

Gooooooaaaaaaaalllll!
Alan Partridge - Sports reporter, 1994 Part 2 of 2 1436pm 10.7.23 sadly missed - the day today... ffs!!!!!
Sss...Sir Danzig... 😳
first time I saw this, back in 94, I nearly died laughing at the bikes on top of the car part. First time Partridge came out and it was already legendary
I still smile and internally voice Partridge when I see cars transporting bikes! 😂😁
In 1984 , I don't see any ussr name
Correct. Tho neo-Bolshevism (the ideology of Eurasia) is mentioned 😄..
Golden age stuff. Still hilarious.

ARE YOU NOW?
Great effort. Looks a nice place for it. Never too old for this! Best wishes to you and your channel. First time watching. New subscriber.
Ta! I'm an occasional *poster*. I shall blame you if I now buy an insta x3 and post more 😁 I have a busy April A half A 10k London full My local - North Dorset Village Marathon
I enjoyed the section featuring Sam Matterface,

I love that start line area! Picturesque place!
Exeter is a *tidy* city. The start was in the old Dock area: Warehouses are theatres, cafes etc. I was very pleased when the start line became the finish line - I was shattered.
Looks like a nice marathon.
I swear there was a clip on The Day Today where Alan is talking to a camera up above him in a supposed bustling crowd but as it pans out quickly there's about 10 people around him. Did I dream that it was it another character?
At 7min 45secs on the first part of this brilliantly compiled... er... compilation is a scene similar to that which you have described. Also the Comic Relief segment where Alan is in Swaffham and is hit with a custard pie. Thanks for watching!
"Apparently it's er.... he's dead" That line delivery killed me
Wasn't expecting 5:12 dunno why it cracked me up so much 😂😂😂😂😂
2022 here ... yes, social-warrior Woke bs in their death rattle after a long ass battle with " Them / They " ... soon to be ... " Was / Were " ... but Alan is still here with us doing great things !!! 🙏💯🙏👊🏼😬👊🏼
Yeah that's because half of what you believe is just media bullshit that doesn't really exist in our daily lives. Stop listening to that shit (which is designed to wind you up) and just worry about the problems you ACTUALLY face.
Sir Danzig
I’m from the US, living in Sheffield UK since 2020. I had been familiar with this series for years before moving to the UK, and now after being inundated with BBC- style news reporting for 2 years, I fully appreciate its genius.
Now it makes sense. So funny. Americans are usually crap at getting irony. Well done and enjoy.
Apart from Alan Partridge, try "peep show" and "the inbetweeners". Or old comedy like "fawlty towers" and "rising damp". Enjoy.
Marry me .
"Shouldn't you be at school, do they not think you're missing out on schoolwork?"
There you have it ladies and gents 4:52 alan partridge did in fact create the "lives matter" movement although probably not aware at the time and since the catchy slogan has been stolen by the burn towns down movement as they try to re invent themselves as activists as apposed to anarchists...we know better
"Peter Elliot there, no relation to the late Denholm"!
Anyone notice the odds in the race were all wrong. Cant have a 2/1 fav with a 7/4 in the field as 7/4 is shorter odds so that horse would be favourite. Also the 100/30 horse then 3/1 bar is wrong as 100/30 is longer odds than 3/1 so it should be 100/30 bar…..just saying, lol
BOOF! EAT MY GOAL
He boings down bangs his head and in!
TWAT!!!! THAT IS LIQUID FOOTBALL... TIMELESS.. GENIUS... 🙏🏻 🙃😊🙏🏻
Chris' random misanthropic outburst are always hilarious. Coogan is brilliant in this, always surprises me how long Alan has been a character. In fact just watch the whole show, it's fucking awesome.
Excellent use of the apostrophe. Chris' Top man (*or woman, Reg*)
@@twold4this is that not right?
@@agdgdgwngo Oh yes it is very right! I genuinely love the detail. I wasn't being sarcastic 👍😁
Aww never long enough ♥ 🍻 🐨
G e n i u s! Can you imagine the BBC or C4 making anything this good these days with the thickos and oddballs they have been employing for the last 15 years? Sad. Tragic in fact.
After all these years I've only just noticed the 2/1 'favourite', Onion Terror is followed by Massive Bereavement at 7/4 haha
“ Join me! “. 😂
That was liquid football!
