Make manuals great again! The manual everyone wants but nobody does? #cumminsdiesel #trucks
My 2006 ram 3500 getting an Eaton fuller RTO6613. Yes I know what Iv got myself into.
All the Fab work and installation was done by my wife and I.
Lots more content coming from my 2006 ram 3500 dually and new to me 2007 5.9 3500 mega cab dually that will be converted to a single wheel and the auto taken out and a manual swapped in.
Stay tuned to see what manual get swapped into that and what auxiliary/ secondary transmission gets stuffed behind that as well. 🚚

@@Jason.O379 Eaton fuller RTO6613. Behind my 06 Cummins common rail
Love the CAD, we’ve gotta get some of that! 😂😂
@@twodrunkbrothersgarage4911 right! The subscription is free on that 😂
@@GarageOperator dang that’s a good deal! Everyone loves free stuff! 🤣🤣
This is cool
@@CarbonNeutral22 yes I think so too. As far as I know. It’ll be the 1st 3rd gen common rail with an Eaton fuller 13spd 🤩 Stay tuned. My 07 mega cab will probably be getting the 6spd that was in this truck along with a spicer auxiliary 3 or 4spd transmission.
@@GarageOperator a real twin stick would be a very cool build as well! I'll stay tuned I have thought about a 13 speed many times, I really am not a fan of shifting the 10 speeds I find them to be too tight if you know what I mean.
@@CarbonNeutral22 yea I get that. It’ll definitely be a learning curve. 😆
sick
I know I’m way late. But please explaign the setup.
No worries dude. This is my old set up that I don’t have anymore but it was basically an vgt turbo off of a 6.7 Cummins. I took off the electronic actuator and ran an air actuator to activate the exhaust brake. I had a Manuel stop on there to make sure I don’t completely close off the veins in the back of the turbo when I activate the exhaust brake. I used a spring that was adjustable for the vgt actuator to open up as I got on more throttle. I alos retained my 5.9 jacob‘s exhaust brake on the downpipe.
@@GarageOperator wow. That’s awesome. I didn’t know they had Jacob’s brakes for the 5.9. Tell me about that
@@jessecarpenter6434 hard to tell if you’re trolling or not lol. But either way the Jacobs exhaust brakes are not made anymore as far as I know. You can still find them Randomly on eBay or market place once in awhile. They run off of a vacuum pump instead of compressed air like most all do now days. Only issue Iv had with it is needing to replace the vacuum pump 1 time since we’ve had it. Truck was bought new in 2006 with the exhaust brake added at the same time. Really saves your brakes. It’s hard to beat the Jacobs exhaust brake sound, my favorite out of all of them and it’s the loudest as well. Unlike all of the ones out now.
@@GarageOperator promise I’m not trolling lol. Just curious. I’m not super familiar with Cummins aftermarket things aside from the obvious. But I especially know little about the exhaust and engine brake side of things. I do plan on getting a Cummins in the future. And I’m just doing what I can to learn about anything I can. Thanks for your time.
@@jessecarpenter6434 no worries dude. It was just hard for me to tell that’s all. Lol. I don’t mind at all. I’m glade to share what knowledge I have. I’m not a mechanic by any means but I’m pretty good with my hands 😂 I’m in the middle of a manual to manual swap on my 06. Finally got all the parts together to swap my 6spd to an Eaton fuller 13spd. That 6spd is going into my 07 mega cab I just picked up with a blown auto. Anyway sorry for my rant. I’m super excited about it. My advice is. Join a bunch of the groups of FB there’s a lot of info there on most everything. You can also drop ur email if you want. I’d be glad to share what little knowledge I for the Cummins.
Why did you stop making videos you were getting a lot views?
Haven’t done anything video worthy in awhile. But I got some content coming up in the coming months. Here’s a hint. I have the transmission out atm and transfer case and something with more then 6 gears is going in 😎
Sounds like a damn semi lol
🤩🤩 as it should LOL 😂
0:36 how did you turn it off if you didn’t press the button?
There’s a secondary safety switch on the accelerator that also shuts it off. You don’t wanna be accidentally accelerate with the butterfly valve closed 😆
That would be a bad day if that happened lol
Where can I get an actual Jacobs brake for my 06 Cummins?
I don’t believe they’re producing them anymore. Surplus is an option Iv seen a few on EBay before that was brand new. Or find a used one someone is selling.
Dose it blow black smoke
I’m over all that with my smarty, blowing smoke and being an ass. I got cleaner power now with EFI live. Much better all the way around 😏
Badass
Dude, that is one slick setup! Do you have any experience with the PacBrake, and how the two compare?
Yes I do. We installed a PacBrake on my brothers 2nd gen. It holds you back alot more and way more braking at lower RPMs. The only bad thing that I have with newer exhaust brakes are they’re so quiet but you won’t get in trouble that way I guess lol. 😂
@@GarageOperator lol for sure. People these days get their feelings hurt over the smallest things. 😂 Interesting to hear that about the PacBrake. I have one on my 2nd gen (and love it), but don't have anything to compare it to. That said, do you have a Gear Vendors Splitter system? Works wonders for me while hauling. 10/10 would recommend.
Yes I did have one on this truck actually. But it broke and was out of warranty so I haven’t got around to fixing it 😭😭 I am actually planning on doing a 10or probably a 13spd swap into my 06. Iv never seen one in a 3rd gen and I would love to have that gearing through all RPMs. I would also video and explain all the things needed for it and make a video out of it for others who want to do a similar swap. There’s some videos out there about it but more details wouldn’t hurt. I know about 3-4 guys around me that want to do it as well 😏 But fear the not knowing parts and such in the swap.
@@GarageOperator oh dang, that hurts. Mine has been largely trouble free, but could use some TLC from a technician I think. Shifting is sluggish sometimes, and "gear chunk" has been more of a thing as it gets older. That said, I've seen a couple Eaton Fuller trans swaps, and that is COOL. Might be something I'd be interested too... You never know. 😏
Riding it better than sleeping with my girlfriend 😍
Thats the most molested truck ever 👍
Just you wait. Iv got plenty more to come 😏😏
What product did you buy
A turbo smart blow off valve.
Sounds amazing
Dose it have a bov
Yes, a Turbo Smart one.
@@GarageOperator nice is the white one urs too
do you have any videos of the setup?? I have bad turbo bark/surge when at full throttle with my s366sxe and fully built transmission. Drops the boost from 50psi down to like 30psi hard when going into lockup and overdrive. Id love to put one on my 03
No. I need to make a detailed walk around video on it. I have lots to do under the hood to clean it up. I’ll make one when I get a chance. Not sure on the second part. Maybe tranny tuning issues. If it locks up right away after the shift and drops the RPMs to low boost drops off hard also.
And yes that’s the reason I put a BOV on my diesel for the bark issue. I don’t. Have it waste gated. It’s a built he351 bored out bigger on both sides. I clocked it for the 2nd gen manifold swap. The waste gate bracket didn’t fit after clocking it and I had the blow off valve so I figured why not. Works great as you can see no bark when I let off at 45psi and sounds badass too lol 😂
@@GarageOperator what's the bov you have on yours?
@@Matthewmiller28 it’s the turbo smart kit universal. Not sure if it’s available anymore.
Nice
Can you use both brakes at the same time ?
Yes I can. But either one has plenty of braking power so both at the same time is pointless.
That tranny shifts way smother than mine. Is that a g56 in 06? Mines an 04 with a nv5600
Yes that is a g56. I believe 05-1/2 was the first year of the g56. They all should be smooth shifting. Even the nv5600s. Look at some of my other videos of my brothers white 02 with the nv5600 it’s shifts smooth as well
It sounds like a semi truck
Where do I get a long stick like that ?
I made this one. But since then I found that Amazon has stick extensions. Here’s a link to the ones I believe fit. Dewhel Gear Shift KNOB Extender Extension 10X1.5 Lever Gear Shifter 3.75"(94MM) JDM Rally Drift for Honda Acura Color Black www.amazon.com/dp/B00VRT23PI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GH9QFFJSTXNNATT1CWF0
You're either born with one, or you're not ;) ;)
this is a 5.9 3rd gen that you put a HE351ve and 2nd gen exhaust manifold on? I have a 3rd gen 6.7 I wanna put a 2nd gen manifold on and keep my VGT. how hard was it?
I wish I could find one for an 04 cummins but anywhere I look I can’t find an exhaust brake
Pacbrake has them. Depending on how far your 04 or 04-1/2 is into the year you might have to go with the older model then this one. pacbrake.com/product/c44045-prxb-exhaust-brake-kit/
@@GarageOperator ok thanks
Hey can you by any chance tell me how you did this. I wanna budget do a second gen swap with my factory turbo or possibly make a vgt work just so I can have an exhaust brake. I have an 07 btw. Not looking for power just pure sound a possible towing benefits
Yes my dude of course. You will need longer oil drain and feed lines. Also a 2nd gen manifold but is 98.5 or newer, those have the rounded ports on them not the rectangular ones like On the 12vs. You will need to extend your exhaust down pipe abit to meet the back of the turbo. I don’t recommend running the vgt without the electronics on it. It really does run much better then if you set it up mechanically with springs and solenoids. You will need to clock your turbo housing some to line up your charge pipe for the inter cooler, it’s just a snap ring holding the housing. I believe for your charge tube you can use the factory one. But you will need a longer silicone boot and angled ones. If you want I can email you pictures of mine this weekend.
@@GarageOperator yes please email me haha it sounds amazing and I think I have to do it Snyderkurtis@gmail.com
@@snyderkurtis I will do take some pictures this weekend and send them to you my dude.

Someone wants to be a semi truck driver 😆
That’s the best way to do stacks that way it doesn’t ruin the bed if you ever get rid of the stacks
True that. I swap back and forth from my dual stacks to dual exhaust and you don’t really notice them gone one the bed.
Make a video on how u did it
Wow i love it
Worry bout rain?
Nah dude. There’s a low spot on the 90 degree elbow below where it’s clamped and any water that gets built up seeps out there.
doyou notice asounddifference with a second gen swap with stacks vs just a stright pipe? and where did you get the blow off valve?
Why did you put a BOV on a diesel? They are unnecessary. That's why they don't come with them from factory.
Turbo bark on my modified truck. I don’t have a waste gate on it and I had the BOV laying around so on it went.
Also lots of cars didn't come with bovs. But bovs and wastegates are becoming more and more popular for keeping things alive in the diesel world.
Know what else they don't come with? Bigger turbo, injectors and a tuner.
Nice sound!!!!! What's your exaust size?
I have a 4” down pipe to 5” straight pipe going into dual 5” stacks. It sounds much better in person and Iv had mentioned people say that they thought I was a log truck coming down the road lol
What is all done engine wise? i have a 03 that’s pretty stock other than a valair dual disk clutch an i’m trying to achieve around 500-550 hp but am just not sure what to do yet or what to start with
Not a whole lot really. I have a bigger turbo cold air Intake 60horse Bd injectors and EFI live tuning with the 5 position switch. I have not took it to a dyno but it should be around 450/500 on the higher tune. Check out power driven diesel.com they sell a power package that’ll get you want you want. If I’d known about them before I did the stuff to mine I would of went with them.
@@GarageOperator hey thanks man i appreciate the help
You’re welcome dude. That’s why I started a UA-cam to show things on my truck and to give others my experience and help them out in their own builds.
uncalled for if you ask me
How's your exhaust brake holding up and do you tow a lot?
Thanks for the comment. My exhaust brake has held up great. No issues in all these years since it’s been put on which was 2006. Iv only relaxes the vacuum pump once for it like 7 years ago. Yes I do tow and I haul a bunch. Having the exhaust brake is very nice. I even use it with just the truck. I got 130,000 miles on my first set of factory brakes and they still had around 25% life when I changed them out. That’s with 60% or more of the time hauling and pulling something. The thing that doesn’t last is the factory clothes on these year trucks. Stock it would slip pulling. Got a dual disk aftermarket clutch and never looked back.
@@GarageOperator Do you tow much because I do and also what brand is it?
Yes we do. My brother has the white 2nd gen. He use to tow 90% of the time with it around the 5000 to 9000 mark. All we have ran are Southbend clutchs. I have a nephew who did the Valair clutch and said that’s good too. My brother and I both use the street dual disc rated for 600hp. I am actually going to be doing a Eaton fuller 13spd in my 2006 this spring probably. I want the benefits of splitting gears in a 13 speed or a 10 speed pulling and even the longevity of them over the standard manuals in trucks.
@@GarageOperator Is it a banks exhaust brake?
I have a Jacob’s exhaust brake on mine. That’s the one you get at the stealership. Banks stuff is good it’s just spendy. My brothers 2nd gen has a pac exhaust brake on it. He has the same braking/hold back at all RPMS that’s why he went with it. Now I think all the exhaust brakes do that. Bd, Pac and Banks.
I follow Ferguson transport on Insta love those trucks!!
Thanks for the love. He my brother. He just started his UA-cam channel. ua-cam.com/video/0sAf_4gVk4k/v-deo.html. We will do more videos soon. Iv got a lot I want to show on our trucks.
Right on. I’ll be sure to subscribe to both your channels.
Very nice sound
So the big button is the exhaust brake and the little switch is the turbo right?
The push pull switch on the front is the jacob’s exhaust break. The Toggle switch on the passenger side is the turbo exhaust brake. The rocker switch on the driver side is for gear vendors under overdrive. Basically it’s just 2 different styles of exhaust brakes on my truck.
Why are you zooming in & out !?
Are you still running a HE351VE VGT Turbo in this video?
HammerLane79 no sir. It’s a HE351cw. It’s just a stock turbo that’s been bored out to fit a bigger billet compressor wheel, it whistles a lot. It’s a Taterbuilt turbocharger rated for 550/600 hp if I remember right.
I would like to do this same setup to my 04.5 six speed👍 what swap kit brand did you use? if you don't mind sharing
Jacob Evans i don’t mind at all. I built the kit myself. I bought a DPS 2nd gen manifold for 1998-1/2 to 2002, bought a longer oil feed line and drain line. Lengthen my down pipe to reach the back of the turbo. Clocked the turbo housing to clear the alternator with the charge tube. Also bought a silicone boot 90° off the Turbo for the charge tube into the inter cooler. Then I made my cold air intake using 5” exhaust tubing that I had laying around. Also bought an aluminum charge tube that was straight. As the stock one had a slight bend to it. I am also running the manifold upside down for more clearance and to simplify building the intake. But you can run the manifold both ways.
@@GarageOperator thanks for the reply man👍👍 one of these days I'm gonna do this mod for sure!!!
