It's too bad that the balance was off for every quartet on that AIC show. The mikes caught the outside voices only. Couldn't really appreciate this or any of the superb quartets.

I understand that they have aged considerably since their recording of the tune, and Richie was in a bad car accident which messed him up pretty bad, but I feel like that could've sounded much better... Larry (the bari) seems to have lost his ear for the part, Kent (the Tenor) isn't tuning his part very well, and Rich has his moments (understandable due to his past injuries). The most solid part was the bass in Terry's voice. I love the Boston Common, and typically, I can only say good things. But this is one instance, regrettably, where I must criticize. They shouldn't have performed here... I hate that I say that, but I find it to be true...

The Ritz and their song Red Red Robin are what got me into barbershop. So great to see this.

Wow what a fabulous array of wonderful gold medallists. Lots of faces of champs from bygone years. Lovely to see. Noticing The BGSU blew the mics at full pace! Was the sound guy asleep? It continued for way too long :( One of my all time favourite quartets. Clean clean clean and explosive chords, love it!

Backstory here is that this was always the opening song for the Suntones. They would walk on stage when their part came in play. FRED always takes it to the next level!

WOW. Thank you so much for posting. What a special moment for us and I have never seen the entire show. I wish I could save this for my archive! We have lost so many of our AIC brothers since this time. It's good to see their faces again.

Was bass under Ben (bass of the Ritz) director of Toledo's Seaway Commanders. With a close 3rd in the Johnny Appleseed District competition, a crazy executive wanting MORE, sent out memos to be 1st place & fired the director Ben (an NFL Executive myopic view of the world); which the chorus dropped from over a hundred for the competition, to 39 members. (Example of Brilliant executive Stupidity) Then, appropriately in his Quartet recognized as 1st place❤. This is the only version of this song I can find online that I enjoy listening to. I can just FEEL what they're feeling. Some people can sing songs, but they made music out of everything they sang. Truly the best of all time

The MIcs were not well-placed. They placed the sound so that the Baritone is prominent!

Poor Mike placement. The mike is focused on the Baritone, not the other three. It is too bad. These guys are so accurate, always!!!

My Oh My!! Talk about memories. We had a quartet (The Chord of Appeal), consisting of a young Todd Wilson(bari), Bob Haines(tenor), Bart Brooks(lead), and me, Ray Kazmierski(bass) all members of The Coastman Chorus out of West Palm Beach FL under the direction of Harlan Wilson (bari of The Suntones). The 4 of us would sit and listen to the Common then our next rehearsal we would sing the songs we'd listen to from the previous week. What a joy to listen to one of the greatest quartets in the Society. Joe DeRosa heard our tape years later and stated we were about 10 years ahead of our time. We knew we had something special, but life sometimes changes course. Bob went to work with IBM, Todd moved out to Dallas Tx, to sing with The Vocal Majority started a quartet (Class of the 80's and then Acoutix). Bart had a number of different quartets, and I got married and put Barbershop on the shelf for about 7 years. I have rambled....Sorry
