Thank you for sharing this information. Very interesting. I have two questions. 1. How long are they alive? 2. Can dragon fly still fly after you touched their wings?

@@sylviamieczkowski6209 1. Egg hatching to end of life could be years, maybe up to 4 or even 5 years as a nymph then only a month or two as an adult dragonfly. 2. Fortunately yes, especially large dragonflies like this can be safely handled with their wings barely held together like this. It’s best to hold with your fingers like “scissors” rather than pinching between the fingertips. In the beginning of the video you see this one take off from Conrad’s hand no problem!

I just saw this video. I have a unique story relating to the Pioneer Cemetary.. our family visited Letchworth every single year. Approx 1976 when I was 5 years old & while our family was camping at Letchworth, we visited the Pioneer Cemetary. It rained for a few days prior to our visit & the ground was wet & mushy. My sister, cousins & I were standing on the base of the Tombstones. I had to climb on one of the bigger ones because that is just me.. mine was William T. Davis & given the wet ground & probably the age of the cemetary, that particular tombstone was loose & I had a hand on either side of it & was rocking it back & forth. It toppled over on me & I was unconscious. My family ( particularly my mom) thought I was dead. My Mom was in shock & as my uncle was running past her to get to the groundskeeper house to call for help, he had to slap her to jolt her out of it. I went to the hospital & got patched up & really only had minor cuts & a hairline fracture. If you look at Williams headstone, you will notice it is broken in half & held together with a support. That was all me! I visit Mr. Davis every single year since & pose for a picture with the headstone. I am dubbed "Tombstone Kelly" by my family.

That was an easy hawk to guess! Whenever I identify any hawk, the tail can really narrow it down! After that, then I look at the size. There are only 2 hawks that have a long striped tail, but only 1 has a red tail! This juvenile Cooper's Hawk may have crashed into something while on a chase, which could have caused its demise. Since there are no obvious wounds, I believe that is what happened! That can pose a problem for hawks that are just learning to fly for the first time!
