@@mtnmnchronicles yeah national parks are really dog unfriendly when it comes to the backcountry. That was the main reason I didn’t bring my pooch this trip.

I recall that at certain points of that trail, you didn't require a seatbelt as you had an excellent grip of your seat! ❤Ellen

@dieelefantltours8991 yes. It's a 8 inch. I like the size, it's not as intrusive as the 10. I think it's the perfect size for my Jeep

@@sambaik6623 Sorry for the delay in response. Tread is 100% better. I have not had any crashing problems. It works like a charm. The learning curve for both is the main thing.

@tuppence101 If you are using a separate my rout app app. Can you down load a gpx? If so load that file into either the online app, or the Tread app

@@mtnmnchronicles To both you and Paul firstly, thank you so much both. Now, progress! I have the files on the Tread App in my iPhone, imported as GPX files, four of them. In the App I can select each. Now, how do I get them to Tread device and select a specific one to GO?

Ok, I now see it will sync after a long time, and then invites me to start. Is there any way to upload all my 50 Tracks on the device and simply select each one to start on each day?

@tuppence101 Depending on the rout or Track size they may take time to sync. I have not found a way to schedule a sync

Thank you for your reply. It was not in adventure mode. This seems to have gotten better in other adventures, but still is happening enough to cause concern.

It is a great spot and one we will go to again. We may stop there on our way to Rim Rocker.

Sorry for the delay. I was exploring the Big Horn mountains. The tread has maps and trails. Additionally, recommend doing some research and using the Tread. I use Trails Off Road, which has detailed outlines, and you can download the GPS routes.

Yep cutting is a breeze and super clean. The aluminum cutting blades work like a champ. Got one for my chop saw I use all the time. Little file work for sharp edges along with black spray paint and no one will know it is DIY. I use rustolium truck bed liner spray paint to match the powder coat look (also from Home Depot).

I am not sure what vehicle you have, but you can use a ram mout or equivalent to .kunt it. Also Garmin had a 12 volt direct wire kit to free up your cig plug

Thank you. Yes, it shows the speed, and turns red when you are exceeding the limit. Additionally, it give warnings for road hazards and conditions. Example being curves, steep hills. It does not give an audible warning, as far as I can find. Thank you again

Thx! One of the problems I’m encountering is once I’ve got the tracks and waypoints on the Tread app on my smartphone… how do I get them across to the Tread Overland device? It all seems very random… sometimes they appear on the Tread straightaway… other times I have to go through all sorts of procedures… thx!

@streakychambers658 I had some issues initially. It turned out to be a corrupted GPX file. I had to look at the Sync Log on the Tread app to find it. Once I deleted the file it worked. It's not fast, it does take about 5 min to Sync depending on number of changes.

Thank you for your comment. I always appreciate people's input and thoughts. I used OnX and my Garmin this week on an adventure and had some challenges with OnX keeping on the trail. Also, it does not support turn-by-turn. But there are many things I found I liked about OnX too. I do agree with the purchase price; the tread can be pricey. Here is why I chose Garmin Tread. I used a Garmin Montana for years and then went to the Garmin 66I. I still own the 66I and use it when I hike or hunt. After 6 years, I decided to upgrade my GPS and Inreach. I almost purchased a 700I , but decided on the Tread because I wanted a dedicated Rig mounted device. IMO it is a personal preference there is wrong answer. For me personally, I did not like loading maps on ONX and Gaia, I do not have to do this on a Garmin. I wanted to be able to share maps and GPX’s files with people. You can not do this with OnX, but you can with Gaia. I wanted to lessen my dependency on multiple devices in my kit (one for InReach, the other for mapping). I have been a long-time Garmin user of Montana, Inreach Mini Vrs1, 66I, Garmin Overlander and now Tread. I have all my maps in Garmin Explorer on the Web and can easily share them. I understand the concern about all maps and everything on one device; It is a legitimate concern. The same can be said for using a Tablet for mapping, and I believe in redundancy. Therefore I keep paper maps of areas I travel to, and also use Mapping apps with a basic map function on my phone. My phone acts as a secondary device in case of a Garmin failure. That said I have never had a Garmin fail me. I have with Gaia and OnX where the maps did not load correctly or I missed a portion of the map because of an unplanned detour. I believe people have choices, and there is no wrong choice for each individual. If OnX works for you and your son, then that would be great. It is a great tool, there are things I like about it. What is important is that you are out there exploring and enjoying the experience. I appreciate your comments and thoughts. Paul

Thanks for asking. I used strong industrial Velcro, in case I ever have to remove it. Another option was to screw a mount. I am not a fan of drilling into my interior if I can avoid it. It's held strong for two years.
