Переглядів 8 тис.5 років тому
www.paulbondart.com Paul Bond’s art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism where symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements blend with realistic atmospheres, his oil paintings unveil a world where anything is possible.

Hi Paul, I smiled when I saw your art. It makes one ponder the symbolism to one's own interpretation. Love the story of how you came to where you are today and creating art. Keep surprising us! Thank you for sharing your art.

You are a real Master of magical realism. I am curious how you get so detailed work, it looks so real. Do you prepare a sketch from your imagination? Or do you make photos of things you want to paint as reference photos and combine them together to create a project of your future work? Or maybe you analise from scratch every little thing you want to paint (an animal, face and all the things you want to paint) and after that you create the project of painting? Every thing is so detailed, the colour, the light and shades are perfect, how you get those in magical realism if it is not just painting from a photo or plain air? I would be really greatful if you answer those questions.

Good question. I gather and take lots of reference photos and will often compose those into a preliminary composition in photoshop that becomes the model for my finished painting. The actual painting itself is traditionally done with monochrome underlayer and multiple layers in increasingly detailed oil paint.

I’ve always been inspired by your art! Do you usually under paint in a neutral tone?

HI Carol. Yes, after the initial charcoal sketch which I then spray with workable fixative so that it does not smear, I then always do the preliminary monochrome under painting in either raw or more often burnt umber. This was common in Renaissance period art. It gets rid of the white, warms up the background and allows be to work in the basic shapes.

@@paulbond3712 Thanks, Paul! I appreciate that. Btw, I'd love to invite you to be a guest on my show if it interests you. I think I sent an invite through your website messaging system a couple weeks ago. No hard feelings if it's not a fit, either. Keep up the awesome artwork. :)

Hello. It's best to contact me via email - paul@paulbondart.com. I do on occasion license images for book covers. To give you an answer I will need to know all details about your book (title, what's it about, dimensions, how many copies are you printing, where is it being distributed, etc.) Thanks, Paul
