You seem beautiful inside and out - just saying x
I think you should upload mcu movies more often like every week.
Its amazing to me that boys lied about their ages,,15-16 yrs old to fight and die in this war because of love of country and to end racism and communism and todays Americans HATE their country and the ppl that provided them with a First World Power to live in😅..its pathetic today's generation..it really is..lol..a 15 yr old boy (OR girl) from back then could beatup 3 of today's "adults"..😅
The entire 2nd half of the move is a travesty for how unrealistic it all is, Band of Brothers is their apology to how dirty they did the war in the second half of the movie.
You earned my sub with your reaction!, see you at the next movie!!!
See you there! 😊
My mother had one of those jobs typing those letters during the War for the Marine Corps.
🤍
Hollywood depiction of one of the fulcrums that assists validation of the human being's standing as as the most hysterically dangerous species walking this planet.
Your reaction to this spectacular film was heartfelt... So many notes.. Matt Damon did this before Good Will Hunting but due to post production on SPR being longer GWH was released earlier... The scene with Damon and Hanks discussing their lives prior to combat, Spielberg asked MD to just talk about something at Ryan's homelife... That is what we saw here...
Amazing!
There's about 50 really good horror movies out there. Starting with the exorcist, the first Halloween and Friday the 13th, hellraiser, the witch, the evil dead trilogy, all the multiple movies in the Conjuring universe, drag me to hell, smile woman in black, the descent, the boy , Orphan, sinister, barbarian, The grudge, the ring, lights out (watch the short first) the shining, I'll throw in The Thing and Alien and Bladerunner because of their gore and jump scare factor and great effects story makeup etc, the Omen , and maybe a few others. But i can easily say, after The Exorcist, this is number 2! There was nothing ever hereditary about this family. Dear old grandma or even generations before her, tried conjuring demons, and put in the men of this family. When Charlie dies and ma sleeps in the treehouse and the camera pans back, watch the wall! When Peter is in bed and first hears the click, watch his eyes!! There's homages to Friday the 13th and exorcist in here. The clock stopping, the subject taught in Peter's class, even the released date of this!! Also, the parking lot scene was a setup. She kept pulling and tugging on Annie and turned her back to her own vehicle because if u look close, she JUST BOUGHT that chalkboard, and its in the back! How Toni Collette didn't win a Oscar is a crime! U can damn well bet either joannie never had a son and grandson, or if she did, she killed them trying to put paimon in them!
God, I'm gonna need to rewatch this now. 😂😭 (thank you)
In a war, no one has a place. Thank you for this duty of remembrance.
We're all standing on the shoulders of giants.
Upham had to kill that guy...no way he could go through the rest of his life, knowing a German is alive out there, he helped let go, then killed his captain. Go in search, 100 greatest war movies. Also check lone survivor, Blackhawk down, 1917, Dunkirk, rescue Dawn hacksaw Ridge, warhorse, big Red one, hamburger Hill, unbroken , once we were soldiers, 13 hours, zero dark thirty, and any other True Story war movies. Hacksaw ridge, lone survivor, once we were soldiers, maybe more brutal than this!! My Dad had me when he was older he fought the Japanese, he said their brutality was unreal. He got shot through and through, the spleen. He said he plug his wounds with dirt, leaves, wrapped all in banana leaves, then his tshirt pieces, then bandages. Then fought his way back to the rear. He said no way he was staying on the battlefield waiting for a medic, but picked up by the japs, first! Watch hacksaw Ridge, of Desmond Doss, one of the greatest ever. Then type in here, Roy Benevidez, the Lazarus soldier! Maybe the greatest of all time! I met him once in the early nineties when I was stationed at Bragg. He was a shell of a man but still super proud he could still wear his uniform! Type his name in here! The sniper through the glass shot, was performed for real, in Vietnam, by Carlos Hathcock. Type his name in here! Go in here, type in 100 greatest war movies. Also check lone survivor, Blackhawk down, 1917, Dunkirk, hacksaw Ridge, warhorse, big Red one, hamburger Hill, unbroken , once we were soldiers, 13 hours, zero dark thirty, and any other True Story war movies. Hacksaw ridge, lone survivor, once we were soldiers, maybe more brutal than this!! The sniper through the glass shot, was performed for real, in Vietnam, by Carlos Hathcock. Type his name in here! The blown up ear guy was in the true story movies, remember the titans and war movie, once we were soldiers. For individual stories, type in here, Audie Murphy, Sgt York, Marcus Latrell, Roy Benevidez, and first medal of honor winner captured on video, and Shugart and Gordon from Blackhawk down. Older movies like bridge at ramegen, dirty dozen, great escape, a bridge too far, longest day, battle of the bulge, aren't as graphic but based on True Story. Spielberg said he made this movie for his dad, a ww2 vet, and Schindler's list, for his mom. His family is Jewish and his dad was a vet... The silver haired guy in the general's office, is dale dye. A Vietnam vet, he's been in or supervised every movie made since Vietnam, just about. He purposely kept Matt Damon clean dry off the set and in the trailer, while he put the other guys through two weeks of basic training hell, so they would have natural resentment to Ryan! In theaters, most combat vets who went to watch this, couldn't make it through the first scene and had to leave. Back then, boys joined up. They had pride and Honor, they wanted to go, they took pearl harbor personally. Guys 15-17 joined all the time. The youngest was 12! In Vietnam, a guy that was 4'10"...way too short, joined and made it all the way to special forces. He died broke, forgotten and homeless. But before he died, a writer and journalist heppened to bump into him in the street, bought him a meal. Then for several days, the hero told him his life story. Type in here, the 4 foot ten Vietnam special forces vet. Im a vet myself. First Ranger batt, 25th light, 82nd. Somehow i never was in a official combat zone but I did go to a few places, u never wanna be! Saying that, to me the toughest job here? The women typists. 9 to 5 day in and out, for years, typing those letters. Learning about those boys. They had to have nightmares for years. Also what some of the Ranger companies had to do during this....one company had to climb a sheer rock cliff, to go up top and fight, then take out the heavy artillery. Other companies had to cross about a mile of completely open fields, to get to other heavy weapons. President Reagan talked about them during one of his memorial day speeches. The thing about the invasion, we just sent in tons of guys. It was a huge misdirection plan. Hitler was so convinced, from fake secret messages, that we would land somewhere else plus with heavy weapons, when his generals came to him, and told him this was happening, he went back to sleep, without giving them orders! Big God miracle!! Type in here, Eisenhower meets the Mohawks, pics. Very famous pics of him with the mohawk battalion. He said in an interview much later, that night he became so sad. The invasion was the next day and he realized, half the guys he talked to, weren't going to be alive, the next day!! Some ironies here. Fish and Carpy best friends...an Italian and Jew! The Hitler youth knife, fish broke down because he knew what german kids did with that knife to Jewish kids. The 2 Czech soldiers killed right after the invasion, and the Italian guy says, look i washed for supper! Germans forced Czechs to do everything. Including make most of their weapons. then the German kills mellish with the knife. Proly the Hitler youth knife. Proly the first time a German and Jew seeing each other face to face. The German is telling him, its all over for u now, ur ok, ur going home, stuff like that. The Abraham Lincoln letter is considered a work of art and masterpiece, on many levels. ua-cam.com/video/LoHNTyAR_Vg/v-deo.htmlsi=bq4DegFPMHStp3Lr ua-cam.com/video/b8AggbAVSNQ/v-deo.htmlsi=Ad6wSQCrPyTram8Y Also, band of brothers, the Pacific, Masters of the air, all done by Tom Hanks and other same people.
What a bleak four-movie selection there. It says something that Ex Machina is the lightest one here.
The opening scene Ryan goes to the grave of his brother, at the end he's at the grave of Capt. Miller's grave. His family is directly behind him at the first grave site, at the end, his family remains at a respectful distance, except for his wife who has no idea who Miller is. Ryan went home and never told anyone about that day in Ramell. WW II was fought by men; the average age of U. S. combat personnel was 26 years old. The SGT. in the assault boat wasn't putting food in his mouth, that was chewing tobacco. They were in very rough seas and it took hours for the soldiers to disembark the troop ships into the Higgins Boats. Not knowing when they would ever have a good cooked meal again, many of the soldiers ate a hearty breakfast before disembarking. The first group to load into the boats bobbed around in the water for several hours before heading toward the beach. Many get seasick during that time. The vomit wasn't the main problem, the blood in the boats created a psychological problem when the boats returned to bring more soldiers to the beach. In Vietnam, the average age of combat personnel was 22, not 19 as many people think. Also, the largest number of U. S. personnel killed in action in Vietnam those who enlisted not draftees. The 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion was the only unit that stormed the beaches on D-Day that was made up entirely of Black Americans. They displayed unmatched bravery during the 48 hours it took to secure the beaches. Members of 320th, unlike the other units, had to remain on the beaches with no relief units, exposed to continuous enemy fire during the 2 days it took to secure the area. Because they were Black, the photographers never show them in the photos taken on the beaches that day. All shots showing the barrage balloons are taken at far away distances. The 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion served for almost 150 days in France following the invasion. They continued flying their balloons over the beaches and eventually a portion flew over the port of Cherbourg before the worsening weather in October prevented ships from landing any more supplies. Spielberg researched small details, for instance, Pvt Jackson's right thumb has a black mark on it. That's actually a bruise that many U. S. riflemen had caused from getting their thumb caught in the loading mechanism from not locking the bolt back properly when loading/reloading the M1 Garand rifle. It was called "Garand thumb". Capt. Miller said he taught at Thomas Alva Edison High School. That's a Spielberg paying homage to Thomas Alva Edison High School in Philadelphia, PA. 54 former students from that school were killed in action in the Vietnam War, more than any other school in the nation. The Hitler Youth Knife is more literary liberty than fact. That knife is a hiking knife given to members of the Hitler Youth Corps, which was much like the Boy Scouts in training while being indoctrinated with the ideology of National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazi). The only other group they were issued to were members of the SA. This knife was never part of a soldier of the Wehrmacht. As for the reaction of Carparzo and Mellish, it is highly unlikely an average G.I. would have known what that knife was and its symbolism. The matter of Mellish crying is also not likely as the Allies didn't find out about the fate of Jews in Europe until the first concentration camp was liberated April 4, 1945. The war in Europe ended May 7, 1945. So, following the real timeline, Mellish dies before the Allies knew anything about concentration and death camps. But, after-all, it is Hollywood. Saving Private Ryan is not based on the Sullivan brothers. Fritz Niland became the basis for Private Ryan. He was dropped behind enemy lines on D-Day and spent five days in the French countryside, eventually earning a Bronze star in combat for taking a French. Robert Rodat first came up with the plot in 1994 when he saw a monument in a cemetery in Tonawanda, New York. The monument was to the Niland Brothers - 4 young American men who fought in the Second World War. When three of the Nilands were reported killed, the surviving brother - Fritz - was sent home. This inspired Rodat to write his movie. There are 26 military cemeteries across Normandy, but the most famous and visited site is the poignant Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer. The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in France is located in Colleville-sur-Mer, on the site of the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery, established by the U.S. First Army on June 8, 1944 as the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II. The cemetery site, at the north end of its half mile access road, covers 172.5 acres and contains the graves of 9,387 of our military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations. In real life with the Nilands, it actually turned out later that another of the brothers was alive - he’d been held captive in a Burmese POW camp. Attempts to point out the "discrepancies" between the stories of Fritz Niland and James Ryan are often misguided, as Ryan is only based on Niland, and is not meant to be (or claimed to be) a completely accurate representation of him. The differences in the two stories seem to stem in part from the fact that the true story of Sergeant Niland and his brothers is often reported inaccurately. The character of Private James Ryan is a mixture of fact and fiction, with some of the fictional elements coming from the erroneous stories about the Niland brothers. The German credited as "Steamboat Willie" who was released by Capt. Miller is not the German who engaged and killed Pvt Stanley "Fish Mellish during hand-to-hand combat. "Steamboat Willie" was in the Heer (Army) of the Wehrmacht and the other was in the Waffen SS which was a paramilitary organization and not part of the Wehrmacht. Originally, the SS uniform differed from the Wehrmacht uniform-whereas the regular army wore field grey, the SS wore black, head to toe (although later the SS did adopt field grey and often wore camouflage pattern uniform. American troops were brown and they didn't wear jackboots. The lightning bolt SS insignia can be seen on the right collar lapel of the German as he passes Upham and reaches the bottom of the staircase. During the Battle at Ramelle, Upham became shell shocked and was unable to save a .30 cal team from a German soldier because he was too frozen with fear to do anything about it. He carried all the .30 caliber ammo at the battle of Ramelle, but was unable to do his job because he was always either pinned down or too afraid to move. He signified the loss of innocence in war and thought that soldiers could be civil, but he later succumbed to the evils of war and made up for his cowardice when he shot Steamboat Willie for killing Miller even after the latter had shown Willie mercy earlier. Not only did Upham represent the loss of innocence of war but he also symbolized the "Every-man". His illusion of neutrality faded when he finally had to pick and side and kill Steamboat Willie, his character revelation being how he finally understood the horrors of war. It became clear that Upham had turned into a hardened and true soldier because of the whole experience. Upham's rank was Tech 5 Corporal (E-5), that meant he was technician in a specialty area. His was maps and translator, he was not a combat infantryman and was never trained for front-line duty. Gunnery Sergent Hartman explained it this way in the movie Full Metal Jacket: "It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in combat. Your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not kill. "The way the next of kin was notified of their loved one was killed in action during WW II was by Western Union telegram delivered by a bicycle riding messenger. If you were being notified of multiple deaths as was the case in this film, notification was done in-person by a military officer, usually from the same branch of service as the deceased when possible. That's why the mother upon seeing the officer exit the car momentarily froze knowing that meant at least 2 of her boys were either KIA or MIA, as the priest exits the car, she staggers and completely collapsed. That is one of the most important scenes in the movie. The mother speaks no lines in the movie, yet her breakdown brought a flood of tears form movie goers in theaters across the nation. Another important scene is it is clear from the few lines Ryan's wife speaks that she has never heard the name of Capt. John Miller, this means John has never spoken to her about what happened that day in Ramelle. What many missed is listening to Ryan speaking at the Miller's grave of how he thought about what those 8 men did for him every day was not guilt, but commitment. There are units assigned to recover, bury and mark graves. Usually these were temporary battlefield cemeteries. As hostilities moved farther away, a more permanent site would be selected, at the family's request, whenever possible, the remains would be returned to the United States. At the Normandy Cemetery Visitors Center, you'll find the following inscription: IF EVER PROOF WERE NEEDED THAT WE FOUGHT FOR A CAUSE AND NOT FOR CONQUEST, IT COULD BE FOUND IN THESE CEMETERIES. HERE WAS OUR ONLY CONQUEST: ALL WE ASKED … WAS ENOUGH … SOIL IN WHICH TO BURY OUR GALLANT DEAD.General Mark W. ClarkChairman, American Battle Monuments Commission, 1969-1984
Lots of rather gross inaccuracies. Ryan's wife NEVER said anything about Miller, and we never see his brother's grave---he might have been reacting to someone else he knew. Jews had heard years of Hitler and his Nazis screaming about how inferior Jews were and how he wanted the world to be rid of them--it was common knowledge that German Jews had been murdered and deported and all their belongings stolen---and that in nation after nation in German occupied Europe Jews and others imprisoned and murdered. They didn't have to know about the Death Camps to know what the Nazis were all about. Mellish was reacting to the weight of killing one of them The car used to notify Ryan's mom meant someone of her boys were gone--she wouldn't have known if it was 1, 2, 3, or 4. You need to do a whole lot more than cutting and pasting the same overblown nonsense as you do in every reaction page.
Great reaction as always. Movie suggestions: Nosferatu (1922), Escape from New York (1981), Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), The Devil's Advocate (1997), The Negotiator (1998), The Day After Tomorrow (2004). Ok, I'll stop for now. :)
I've seen The Devil's Advocate but I'll add the rest to my list! Thank you. 😊
"earn this" is not just a message to Ryan, it's an admonishment to all of us to earn what those men sacrificed for us to have today. It's why I take my role as a citizen as important and try to stay informed about politics and what is going on not just in my own country but around the world, and to dig deeper than just blindly reading one article (or worse blindly believing a headline) and actively getting multiple viewpoints - it is for all of us, the recipients of what those men sacrificed for, to earn the fruits of their sacrifice. I'd note that at the end his wife reads "Captain John H Miller" like she has never heard it before... Given when the movie was made you figure they've probably been married near 50 years, grown children & now grandchildren, and yet his own wife has never even heard the name - he's carried that with him all those decades and probably never talked about it.
I feel like that is a very accurate representation of that generation. Both of my grandfathers were in Korea, and to this day I have no idea what they did in the war. They never spoke of their service and it was kind of an unspoken rule that we were never to ask. They wound up taking their experiences to the grave and I sometimes wish I’d asked.
I don't know if you caught it but Tom Hank's character, the Captain was killed by the same German Soldier he refused to kill and later let go.
The family this movie is based on was the (Five Sullivan Brothers) who were all killed on a Navy ship. After that incident, the U.S. Military forbid entire families from serving in combat.
Wrong. It was based off of the Niland Brothers. Two died in Normandy. One captured in Burma, presumed dead until liberated after the war from a Japanese POW camp.
@winestu5322 Nope, it's the Irish Catholic Sullivan Brothers. That's when the US military changed the rule on family members all serving at the same time in combat. They all served on the USS Juneau in 1942 when when all five were killed. Their parents were notified on the same day all five of their sons had died.
I began to notice that Captain Miller (Tom Hank) didn't cry when Caparzo died, but he cried so much when Wade died. I think it was because Caparzo died because of the mission and Wade died because it was the captain's decision to attack the German nest instead of going around the nest. When Caparzo died, the captain was upset, particularly against Ryan, because Caparzo's death was beyond Miller's control, but when Wade died, he cried so much because I feel he blamed himself that his decision to attack inadvertently killed Wade. However, by the end of the day, this speculation is useless as only 2 of the team of 8 soldiers survived the mission, together with Ryan. By the way, you are not naive, Andy. I'm like your perspective a lot.
Oh, I hadn't noticed that but I think you're right! (Also, thank you. 😊)
If you want something “lighter” try reacting to “Sex, Lies, and Videotape”. One of the best indie movies of the eighties. The first movie by the director of “Erin Brockovich”. It’s my favorite “people behaving badly” movie…
I always sympathise with Upham, because though I like to think I would be brave and fight like a demon, until you are there you don’t really know. He shouldn’t have been there, it could be argued none of them should have been there on a rescue mission in a war where 1000’s of people were dying every day. I think his story is an honest one, scared man manages to live through hell… that’s it. He catches a lot of hate, I’m not sure he deserves it.
WW1 ended today 😔 November 11th
Suggestion- "The fallen of WWII" its a short informative story that puts in perspective the true cost of war.Anyone who doesn't know much about WWII,needs to watch
I also don't think its okay to kill people. Even if they shot your boss. Whatever
We all die. Before then we are able to make decisions. Its cool when you're cool.
Also, watching this again, its a story about comments. Nobody knew the Captain's story. Then we heard Ryans softness. And most of our friends didn't leave.
The sniper, during the first act, was at 450 yards. If that happened, thats super impressive. Lenses help when you're far away.
The only person who went left was the medic. He sacrificed himself for others.
Ande, the decision to bring back (save) Private Ryan was not one of one life being more valuable than another, it was for the preservation of a bloodline. If Private Ryan died (then) his father's bloodline would end. There is a principle of preserving a bloodline in the US Armed Forces.
Most combat soldiers are very young men who have no desire to harm anyone. If you haven't heard the real world story of the unofficial Christmas truce in the trenches during WW1 check it out, it tells you a lot about real soldiers.
1. Many WWII vets left the theaters because the D-Day battle scenes were so realistic. 2. The German Captain Miller was talked into letting go is the same one that killed him. Upham finally put him down. 3. The story Ryan tells Miller about the last time he saw his brothers was made up by Matt Damon. He was told to say something interesting, so he did, and it was kept in the movie. 4. There was a USS Sullivans(DD- 68) dedicated to the brothers lost on one ship. 5. I did 24 years in the US Navy. Outstanding leadership/management skills to dampen the friction between Horvath and Reisen. 6. My favorite character is Private Jackson/sniper, and my second favorite is Sargent Horvath. RIP Tom Sizemore😇 7. Sizemore also played Boxman in "Flight of the Intruder". A movie I'm in briefly.
Several years ago, I took a trip to the UK. I booked a London bus tour, and one of the stops was at St Paul's Cathedral. It was surprising and gratifying when I we were shown the The American Memories Chapel, a section that was added in 1958, and dedicated to the U.S. soldiers who died in WWII. There is a book that has the name of these soldiers, but as a priest told me, there were so many they couldn't find. Bodies without dog tags, or nothing much left as they were washed out to sea. My grandfather on my mother's side died on that beach. He was one of many troops who were from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe based in North Dakota. His name was not listed in that book...
It angers me when I see and hear how people utterly disrespect our fallen, they even booed the 1 minutes silence at a football match in Scotland a few days ago 6 seconds in, utterly disgraceful. Unfortunately it's a spoiled generation that was born into a world where everything difficult was already done who have no idea of the sacrifice that was made so that they could be here today.
@secondchance6603 .. here in America, the orange one was re-elected unfortunately, and he has insulted the fallen, calling them "suckers and losers" for losing their lives.
@@fday1964 'The orange one' Grow tf up kiddo.
America, Great Britain and Canada sent their bravest and finest to save the whole damn world.
I hope this sheds some light on why almost all of us have PTSD as well as the fact that we lose 22 vets a day to suicide.
Meanwhile there are Americans/Brits/etc. today spitting on the memory of those who laid down their lives.
His name is not a swear word.
I am new to your channel 😊
God I love your reactions. Few words but all emotions. New sub! Looking forward to your next video, 🍻
Andelain, during WW1, quite a few generals were killed. Actually, on a percentage basis more generals were killed than enlisted men. Approximately 14% of enlisted men died while 18% of generals were KIA. It's interesting to note that in WW2 ones chances of dying as a soldier was 2% which is the same for generals. General George Patton once said, "An Army is like cooked spaghetti. You can't push it along you have to pull it."
Your next war film should take you to the Pacific. Two that come to mind are HACKSAW RIDGE or THE THIN RED LINE.
I just came across your channel. I love your quiet heart felt response. I think I'll stick around.❤
Captain Miller and the rest of men didn't die just saving Ryan. They died protecting a bridge that was critical to the invasion. If the Germans had broken through with their tanks the slaughter would have been horrific.😮
The fight over the bridge was a Hollywood construct; it was the fight at the OK Corral. The bridge was not equally important to both sides. The Germans desperately needed it; the Americans didn't. Had Captain Miller faced even the slightest chance that the bridge could have fallen to the enemy, he would have pulled his men to the other side of the river at the sound of the first approaching tank and then blown it up.
When Captain Miller temporarily loses his hear it's called acoustical trama. I don't know if you know military terms but herr are a few: FUBAR acronym for Fu¢ked Up Beyond All Recognition SNAFU acronym for Situation Normal All Fu¢ked Up Flank attack from the side where the enemy is weakest. Defilade indicates there a structure providing cover so you can attack the enemy.
Something to remember is that until recently, the vast majority of the people in charge were once the ones following the orders of others, who once had to follow the orders of others, who... Kinda makes it worse and says more about humanity as a whole.
spielberg pulled a fast one on us. he introduced us to the old fella at the cemetery, then cuts to d-day and the shaking hand of capt miller (tom hanks) and takes us through the entire flashback of hanks' mission, only to reveal after hanks' death that the old fella was in fact pvt ryan (matt damon). traditionally the cut from the old man to hanks tells the audience that this man is hanks and the flashback is his story, especially since the flashback spends the next 2/3rds of the movie on events involving hanks that ryan could not have known anything about, like hank's conversation with the medic about the medic's mom.
Subscribed. Thumbs up.
The war would have been lost Without those “higher ups” in their nice safe places. They are the strategists that made it all happen. Everybody’s did their part Perfectly, from the highest admiral to the lowest private.
For a war movie, that's a little more light hearted, try "Kelly's Heroes", with Clint Eastwood. It has a huge cast of A-List actors.
I watched this film at the cinema when it came out in 1998. By coincidence, with me was a group of Russian government officials from Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) and they were very interested to see an American WW2 film. The people in the cinema remined completely silent for the duration of the film. As we were leaving, one of the Russians asked me how many D-Day type invasions occurred during the war. I knew there were about seven in Europe and more than 40 in the Pacific. He and his fellow Russians had been taught all their lives that the western allies - and the USA in particular - had it "easy" during WW2. The film was eye opening for them.
80 процентов немецких войск воевало на Восточном фронте, и только 20 на западном.
@@АлексейБрусенцев-ж8щ .... and your point is what?
The German that walked down the stairs, past Upham, was the one Upham talked Captain Miller into letting go, after their medic was killed.
No he wasn't. He was a completely different soldier.
